  5. thanks micro What I have here is a dsl connection @ 1200dwn and 256k up advertised but the ISP has been doing a lot of changes to their network. It seems like the speeds are acceptible and average at least a T1 service, as you have seen my uploads are outrageous 1300 to1700k up and this is where I feel the problem lies because the up should not be greater than the down. I use the TCP optimiser to check my (mtu) and pings I have a Zone labs 2004 pro fire wall that I can edit for all of the sites that I ping so as not to let my defenses down. I also have this Big Amp Rwin calculator that helps me figure out the Rwin settings in the register. I also use the doctor ping program at DSLreports and at one time they use to post my ping times, however the timeouts no longer allow them to post.

  7. This is Fred want to ask you or the forum about ping times. I > can't send out over 995 bytes of packets at a time before I > start getting timed out messages where as before I could > determine max (mtu) Where it would go all the way to 1496 bytes > and it started degrading or fragmenting and tell me I could set > my (mtu) to 1500 bytes now it won't go any further than 1125 and > it times out what is wrong I feel sure it is a server problem > but they don't care about ping times what can I do to send out > at least 1496 bytes before it starts fragmenting

::: Upload Stats ::: Connection is: 1372 Kbps about 1.4 Mbps (tested with 1000 KB) Upload Speed is: 168 KB/sec Auth Code: 270581 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 25 times faster than 56K you can upload 1MB in 6.1 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?ta=&top=&num=270581&kbps=1372&gen=gen&a=5.14285714285714&b=0.571428571428571&c=1145.14285714286 hey hell fire it works thanks microwave, they are really having a hard time with this network here at home the speeds are up and down constantly they say (ISP) that is, that they cant get some people on their network to clean up ther computers (i.e.) spyware and viruses it's like their under a denial of service attack. I used to get some real good download speeds but now they are average hope they get it straightened out soon.
  10. Yeah Ca3le is diffently a rare breed with the service that he is providing. With this site there will be a lot of questions asked and with that there will be a lot of knowledge obtained so with keeping this in mind Ca3le is truly doing the internet at large a very good service. Keep up the good work and remember what you put out in life is what you will get back 10 times in return. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge.

    Building for speed

the most important one factor in building your own tower is SDram keep in mind that memory is very troublesome, so as to eliminate this potenial, let us put only one card on the bus. Hence conflict free! one other plus is max front side buss speed
  14. believe it or not as of now you do not have a leg to stand on in the central office! You have reached the stated speeds both up and down. There could be several determening factors in your problem? as I see it, your looking for consistency and your not going to get it because of the nature of the beast (i.e.) the www. try working with some of the tcp/ip stack tools that are offered at dsl reports and don't worry about your register the values that are default can be replaced, hard work does payoff

    My upload speed

sorry Guy you need to check in on this speed report because I have read some where that up is not supposed to be faster than down these pages to follow is where I have read about this paticular problem http://cable-dsl.home.att.net/
  16. hey guys all these download speed are great, however! when you achieve an upload speed of Auth. code 266936, 1129kbps/138Kb/s that is good networking (i.e.) tower.cabeling and C.O. distance for the low end DSL. In other words I'm pleased with my setup.

    tcp/ip stack

Yeah I think that would help your site out a whole lot another good tool that is on board in msdos, is tracert, pinging is real helpful in determining the location of a bottlenek in the pipe line. This site could become a good teaching tool with a lot of hard work and also a lot of assistance from knowledgable people keep up the good effort and merry christmas Fred

    tcp/ip stack

dsl reports has the tcp optimiser, use this tool and have no worry about screwing up the registry and have fun, by the way don't worry about the send window and don't ask me why (HaHa)
