  1. OOOOOOOHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOO, Hughesnet :biggun: out of the 1.0mpbs pkg. 340 is good, believe me! I can post you my 30 days worth of speeds that were BELOW this on the 1.5 Pro Plus Plan :tickedoff:
  2. Well, this is a MILLENICOM account, which basically is a VERIZON account sold by a third party. So, those people are clueless. As many towers are leased, sometimes its not clear who operates service out of a specific tower (not even by going right up to the gate and reading the signs).
  3. Access Overload Class in UM175 Diag Screens/HDDR What does the ACCESS OVERLOAD CLASS need to be set on when you force HDDR? (UM175/Verizon) It lists a range of 1 to 15, and always defaults on 15. I've tried 3, 10, and 15, and I dont see any noticeable change. What exactly does this control?
  4. PN Offset on Verizon UM175 (pilot Number) I'm trying to find what tower I'm connected to. I've figured out the PN OFFSET in the diag screens means what tower I'm connected to ( I think). When I'm in the city, I get PN 148, which is great, signal is about -43. At home, I get PN 200, Signal -74. From what I've read, a tower has three P/N's, one per "sector". In the reading there is "ACTIVE", "NEIGHBOR", and "CANDIDATE". The "CANDIDATE" was the one I was on in the city. The "ACTIVE" one of course, is the one I'm on now. So, If I drove up to a tower I thought I was on, Would it register all THREE P/N's of the tower????? or would it just depend on what side of the tower I was "drove up to". Maybe it doesn't matter, because when I get back home, it auto changes to 200 no matter what . . . Someone know? I read a few tidbits off Jim's site.
  5. I hear ya... Hell, I brag about 1.5mbps on a good day with wireless! LOL And sometimes my UPLOAD is higher than my DOWNLOAD, I have never been able to figure that out.
  6. If your neighbors were using your connection, to me that would mean (1) You didn't have any security enabled on your wireless connection (2) If you DID enable security, they'd have to have the SSID key. (3) If you DID enable security, perhaps you could change from WEP to WPA and use another security key.
  7. I have a DLINK DIR-655 and its default address is 192.168.1.1 the only way I know if that you could get your router to have a config address of 192.168.0.1 is if you changed the router's ip address in the admin pages.

  9. One Tower is 7 miles away, and Another is 13 miles away. I have no idea which ones I'm connected to. when you run the "ACTIVATION" wizard, its supposed to pick up the strongest signal. and "update" the phone number it dials???????????????????? 13. yeah, they have refused to contact me back regarding their discrepancy (ACCEL-NETWORKS) that is . . . . Seems as I caught them in a bit of a lie. Guess for now, I'll stay will Millenicom and curb my usage! Sure is better than dial-up!
  14. Man, the deeper you dig, and the more you read, the more you read. I've found that "UNLIMITED" never ever means "UNLIMITED", period, with any wireless, satellite, or cable carrier. Supposedly ACCEL-NETWORKS offered a "unlimited bandwidth usage" in their Fixed Wireless Solution.........Yes, UNLIMITED USE, but LIMITED downloading. Doesn't that sort of conflict each other. ACCEL would never truly say what the "cap" or limit was, more saying it was the "type of applications" that you were running that were either permitted or not allowed. No streaming video from a continuous source (vid cams), no VOIP, no Citrix, no VPN.... So I found their ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY, and guess what it states? More crap about a 5gb cap. l. Network disruptions and unfriendly activity: Using the Services for any activity that adversely affects the ability of other people or systems to use either Accel Services or other parties' Internet-based resources. This specifically but without limitation includes excessive consumption of network or system resources whether intentional or unintentional, such excessive consumption to be determined in Accel

  16. WOW! Great performance @ 7am! Someone said in another forum, for me to get those speeds off a USB Broadband Wireless card, I must be the only one using (pulling an EVDO signal) the tower. They said many towers are only fed with a single T-1 line, and to get 1.2mbps, I must be the only one using it? How's that true? why would they have a tower there in the first place if it wasn't used for cellular and 3g? :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 1323 Kbps about 1.32 Mbps (tested with 1536 kB) Download Speed is:: 161 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 657 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Upload Speed is:: 80 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2009/07/15 - 5:51am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-H462JBCZL U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-48OC0ZP3M User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; msn OptimizedIE8;ENUS) [!]
  17. No way I'm going back to SATELLITE (HUGHES) though. Though never having a problem of usage with them (more speed/connectivity issues)....way more problems can go wrong with a satellite than can a USB modem. subway and Mcdonalds here have free wi-fi, so if I gotta download something really big, I can just go there and connect with my laptop, and my sister has AT&T 6.0 DSL, and lives about 8 miles away. So, for now, I'm gonna wait til the end of the month and see how much I "REALLY" used. The ACCEL thing is still a last resort I guess, But damn, I hate to give $139 a month for internet access, unlimited or not! LOL versus $60.
  18. Out of curiosity, I figured up what I had used on HUGHESNET in my FIRST 30 days when everything was sweet (1.5mbps 24x7) My general usage including general web surfing, downloading misc files and windows updates, and watching 1 movie online once a week was about 22475mb = 22.5 GB (estimated) (also some backups were done online during 2am to 7am) So it seems I'm gonna have a HUGE problem with a 5gb cap! 19. Well, I'm not sure what my usage is going to be at the end of the month. Since millenicom provides the service from Verizon, they have a different connection manager. it doesn't have a usage meter....go figure. sometimes I can connect with the VZAM that I kept from the actual VERIZON cd, and it will show the usage if you click and cancel it about 10 times. supposedly, As of 7/13 12:21pm I've used 2.33GB...its about 1/2 way thru the month. so I'll probably go over 5, but be under 10 (that seems to be the limit before you get "black-listed". I still am looking at ACCEL, but damn, $139 a month for internet service is steep, its still coming off a VERIZON tower, so service wise will probably be no better than I have now. The guy said they use a proprietary antenna which gives about a 10db gain in signal (better). Unlimited NEVER means unlimited in the wireless world. Even with their "unlimited" service, no one will say exactly how much that is (much as the crap Millenicom has got themselves into)... Accel states "no continuous video streaming" or "VOIP". I'm sure they are still at the mercy of VERIZON. what I have now works, but worried about the new "cap"/
  20. IT IS OFFICIAL. If you are using the UM175 on Verizon towers, you WILL NOT be getting any $10 upgrade, and you will be forced to comply with the 5gb cap. The $10 upgrade is for the Franklin device and only available in llimited quantity and ONLY if you have "orange" service level detail in the SPRINT coverage area. "Millenicom Support" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Received-On: Today 7:31 PM Subject: Re: $10 Upgrade Service Notification More... Our main unlimited carrier is our own system on the AWS Footprint, which doesn't include the carriers you mention. We are not able to offer an unlimited plan using Verizon. If you decide to keep your UM175 device, you will be expected to comply with the new 5gb cap.
  21. anyone read about Millenicom finally admitting their cap was 5gb? Also, I read they might be adding a new plan for $10.00 which would add more usage to their account. I have a Millenicom account that uses the UM175 wireless broadband modem and connects to Verizon towers. Please reply if you have a Millenicom account or got an email about this . . . Thanks@
