  1. I have McAfee spam blocker, no spam problems with outlook 2003....You have some kind of ad or keystroke software problems, or a virus....spend a few bucks on some good software and you will have little to no spam and peace of mind! McAfee security suite 7.0 handles all of my needs, Google takes care of my pop-up needs......I think if you run the software suggested by almost everyone who read this post, your problem should go away. Buzz
  2. THE SETTINGS FOR XP ARE (MAX CONNECTIONS PER SERVER) SET THAT TO 20
  3. Whats your operating system? I am running windows 2000 pro using outlook 2003 as my e-mail client and internet explorer for my browser.....I have McAfee everything.. firewall, virus, spam, spy etc. and it works well with Dway. The google toolbar takes care of my popup blocking...so for my system I started with Van Burens latest settings, ran tcp optimizer, added the information to Van Burens settings(if different I went with the TCP settings).....then ran SatSpeed 2.2 and adjusted my connections per server from the setting it provided.
  4. still slower than the second coming! :::.. 5. don't feel pregnant....my speeds are in the craper now too :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 68 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 97 kB) Download Speed is:: 8 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (main) Test Time:: Wed May 25 17:20:02 PDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 1X faster than 56K 1MB download in 128 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 8.3 % of your hosts average (direcpc.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-6DXM5N4TW ok your looking better speed wise....try it during low hour usage 1:00am-2:00am and you will be in the 1024-900 speed area, you can only expect to get 90% of max speeds some are lucky and get a bit more but 90% is about as good as it gets.
  6. they must be playing with the system again.....I am beginning to suspect they are trying to make changes to support their new 7000, 7700 series modems, and are finding problems with compatibility will all of their different modems and software......IT MUST BE SOMETHING!!
  7. If you and your brother are on-line at the same time.....bandwidth divided by two, so you will have slower performance. If your speeds are still that slow when only one of you is on-line there are a few things you can try to see if it helps up your speed. I can't stress this enough slowness starts ar home or in the registry. Use software tools to clean all spyware, etc. Use a software tool ( I use Tuneup Utilities 2004 ) to clean your registry and defrag it.....which will make your system run noticably smoother. Run your disk defragment tool...reboot. Now come the fun part There is not one tool out there that does everything needed to tweak your settings for optimum....So here is a good list to get you started: Cablenut download this, somewhere on this site there will be Van Burens cablenut settings "A MOST EXCELLENT START" this guy has spent a lot of time and effort to help us no tweak geeks get up to speed as quick as possible. Find TCP/OPTIMIZER.exe and download that.....and if you want you can add SatSpeed 2.2 to your collection....read up on some of the forums here, and at copperhead.com (satSpeed2.2) OK are you confused yet?? :ha ha: Well it's not so bad most of the programs are free and have good user friendly instructions. SETTING ARE SYSTEM DEPENDANT.....EACH OPERATING SYSTEM NEEDS A DIFFERENT CABLENUT SETTING, MAKE SURE YOU PICK THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOUR SYSTEM......PLAY WITH THESE USING THE SPEED TEST ON THIS SITE, MAKE SEVERAL TESTS DURING LOW USAGE HOURS....LATE AT NIGHT SO YOU HAVE MAX BANDWIDTH.....WRITE THEM DOWN, MAKE CHANGES RETEST, AND REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM UNTIL YOU HAVE HAD ENOUGH OR FOUND YOUR OPTIMUM SETTINGS. Oh by the way someone out there check me on this, I have heard that once you get close to your optimum settings, you should run them for a week or so until they propagate through the dway system to see how they settle in. If not happy make your small changes and wait a week for everything to settle again. I hope I haven't confussed you, Van Buren or PHP of someone out there can throw you a life vest if I left you in the deep end of the pool! Buzz
  8. Everything was down to a snails pace for about 20min......don't know why. But I am back up to speed in a manner of speaking (at least for Dway). Buzz :::.. 9. I have a old post I would like to end, questions have been answered.....how do i make it go away? Buzz P.S. I was wondering about that locked thing, how does it happen?

  11. You say very few problems......what kind have you had? Buzz
  12. I am a bit leery of any beta test software, even more cautious when it's put out by DWAY, MY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM HAS BEEN LESS THAN SATISFACTORY....... But you never know even a broken watch is right twice a day...so HAS ANYONE TRIED THE TURBO POP E-MAIL ACCELERATOR BY DWAY? IT'S SUPPOSED TO GIVE GREATER SPEED AND FILE SIZE ALLOCATION TO MAKE THE E-MAIL TO YOUR PERSONAL MAIL CLIENT FASTER. THE THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS ONCE INSTALLED YOU CAN'T UN-INSTALL IT, YOU CAN TURN IT OFF, WHICH DISABLES IT, BUT IT'S STILL THERE IN THE REGISTRY SOMEWHERE.....LURKING! ANY REPORTS ABOUT HOW THIS TURBO POP THING WORKS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. Thanks Buzz
  13. More like disappointed.....I was expecting what they advertised. I would be happy with a 128kbs down and 6-9kbs up. When it works it beats dial up.....especially when I need to update a program! The upload speed of 6-9kbs is two to three times that of my best dial up connection.....so I can't complain about that, it is what I signed up for.....it the intermittent, inconsistent download speeds that get me worked up. Dway promised that the average download speed would be 1meg (128kbs, better during low usage times.... I guess once I have everything dialed in, it will be fine.....but I will look here first for help before ever calling the service department! Buzz
  14. I have had Dway for a couple of weeks now.....I am also running windows 2000 pro 750 meg ram 700MHZ.
  15. I think it's too much already for what we get.....I wish they would open the gates...so what if we hit the FAP quicker, did they ever think that if we could get our business done in a timely fashion we would get off of the air and someone else could use the bandwidth.....yes someone will abusethe system... thats what the fap is for.....what good is having it if it takes all day to get there?? Buzz
  16. thanks for all of your input......I will be thankfull I am not still stuck on dialup.....I am still playing a bit with my cable nut settings to see what I can see......I have not rebooted my computer this many times since I can't remember when! anyway there are a lot of empty fields so something might still be tweakable that will improve something....at this point I will take all I can get! Buzz
  17. Here are my current cable nut settings....any suggestions for my empty fields? I am running windows 2000 pro, 750 meg memory, outlook 2003 and the standard DWay account w/DW6000 modem. I hope this is OK what I did was changed the.ccs cablenut extention to .txt so I could attach the cable nut file with my settings. So to look at the settings download the attached custom_TTL96.txt and change it to custom_TTL96.ccs and open it up with cable nut. I hope this works and is not breaking any rules.....I am not a hacker with a virus...but you will just have to trust me on this. anyway I was hoping one of the on-line wizards could let me know of some more optimum setting for my system. Thanks in advance! Buzz
  18. I just got finished with tech support, they have no reported problems along this line.....at least that's what they told me.....wanted to know if the lights where all lit up on my modem......DUH?! I am on satellite G4R_1K 970MHZ and I am having packet failures too. Number of Failed Transmissions 9298. Tech support said to see if I was on TX8...which I am.....they said call back if this number changes and they would be able to find the problem then......WHERE DID THESE GUYS GET THERE TRAINING? Anyway is there anything I can do on my end to fix the Failed Transmission problem...or do I have to wait it out until they stumble upon a problem and fix it?? a bit frustrated with the tech support...but it still beats dialup! Buzz
  19. what can I do to get better packet transfer?? Why is the number of failed transmitions so high? Transmit Status Transmitter ready. (TxCode Number of Successful Transmissions 495470 Number of Failed Transmissions 9205 Number of Packets Submitted for Transmission 182202 Buzz
  20. Well from what I have gathered at this point, my speeds are about as good as I can expect....So I will play with the settings one at a time to see if anymore can be squeezed out.....later I will post the best cable nut settings that I can come up with for windows 2000, using the DW6000........Oh and to put aside a wives tail.....I have had directv for 7 years....only once or twice due to weather (Major snow storm) have I lost my signal.....AS FAR AS I CAN TELL THE SAME HOLDS TRUE WITH THE DIRECWAY INTERNET. I live in Oregon where the springs are wet and rainy.......had a really hard rain storm last night......so I went over to see what would happen to my internet connection......I COULDN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE.......DOWNLOADED JUST ABOUT 1 MEG (128kbs) UPLOADED ABOUT......HUMMM NOT SURE WHAT THE SPEED NUMBERS WHERE BUT I WAS UPLOADING 5-6 KBS......SO IF YOU HAVE A CLEAR SHOT TO YOUR SATELLITE, AND YOUR RUNS ARE NOT LONG......THERE SHOULD NOT BE A LOT OF DIFFERENCE RAIN OR NOT! Thanks to all in this forum for there continued support and tips Buzz
  21. Yup it's Direcway or dialup......and the phone lines out here are older than dirt......so dialup is download 1.6kbs to 2.2kbs and about the same for upload.......I have had higher test speeds, but I get tired of working in the middle of the night to have the bandwidth to do it. I was wondering is there any field in cable nut that keeps your speed constant, or something to help get better averages? Thanks Buzz
  22. These are the best speeds I have been able to get, any tweaks to make it consitant.....or should I be happy with what I have?
