dagger Posted December 10, 2004 CID Share Posted December 10, 2004 First of all i would like to thank VanBuren for his Guide which speeded up my connection by a staggering %125. This Teusday i got Telestra BigPond Cable, i thought i would be very fast, but even after tweaking my connection it never goes 180kb's+. My ISP now says thats the average i can expect whilst my friend on the exact same connection goes 400kbs average. can anyone help me =( https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=1CFH8XXWL

Most of the time ppl reporting back, when it dosent help at all or speed got even worce Do you use any tweaks after you changed to Telestra BigPond Cable? If you use same tweak as you had with your previous ISP it might be in conflict. Best way is to open cablenut, click delete cablenut tweaks + click save to registry and reboot. Now check speed, and follow the tweak guide, make sure to find the right MSS value and then use one of my custom files. Post score before and after tweaks good luck VanBuren

DJVageli Posted December 11, 2004 CID Share Posted December 11, 2004 Well all I know is that if u run anything through your usb thats internet related, its much slower than if it were from an ethernet port
dagger Posted December 11, 2004 Author CID Share Posted December 11, 2004 hmmm i just pulled my ethernet adapter out of my other box and put it into this one but it doesnt seem to pick it up any idea why? this also happened with my other ethernet adapter
MICROWAVE Posted December 11, 2004 CID Share Posted December 11, 2004 My guess is you have to tell the computer that the nic card is installed....and yes when I have run my connection with a USB port it was always slower.....have you gone into control panel to network connections to verify that your systems is setup for your connection?? Mr. Hahn Posted December 11, 2004 CID Share Posted December 11, 2004 Go to your control panel and add the hardware manually.

dagger Posted December 12, 2004 Author CID Share Posted December 12, 2004 if i format would that fix the problem about my computer not pickng up the network card?
Mr. Hahn Posted December 12, 2004 CID Share Posted December 12, 2004 It may, but I would say that's a little extreme for something so petty. Did you try installing it manually like I told you?
dagger Posted December 12, 2004 Author CID Share Posted December 12, 2004 i tried but my fsked computer froze everytime i tried =P
Mr. Hahn Posted December 12, 2004 CID Share Posted December 12, 2004 Well, freezing isn't a good thing. Unless anyone else has any better suggestions and you don't have a ton of files need to back up first, I'd say reformat.
