wyantm06 Posted February 25, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 25, 2006 Ok well I ordered all my hardware I need, a LCD monitor, and a anti-static bracelet. Can I work at a table that is on a carpeted floor? Or not?
richcornucopia Posted February 25, 2006 CID Share Posted February 25, 2006 Either is fine, putting it one a table is nice so you dont have to sit on the floor.

wyantm06 Posted February 26, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 26, 2006 Can someone else share their first time experience building a pc? I hope it's pretty simple, I know where most the parts go.
RTB Posted February 26, 2006 CID Share Posted February 26, 2006 It's simple, if you take your time, and read the manuals.

Alright cool I been working on computers on my Networking and Computer Repair class at school. All I been doing now is like putting in ram, putting in cd drives, hard drives, well the simple things. Thanks! I hope this doesn't take me all night to build though

disturbed Posted February 26, 2006 CID Share Posted February 26, 2006 Dark did your first computer turn out good? ....you are worrying too much - if you keep this up you will probably mess something up LOL ! - just kidding - but seriously don't worry, its not complicated at all - dont even worry about the whole static electricity issue, just use common sense and it will turn out fine - and yes, working on a desk is the best thing to do, and no, it really doesnt matter on what surface it is ....ive built a lot of pc's but only 3 of those are of my own - and even though i have experience, i still take my sweet a$$ time - i like taking my time and making sure everything is neat and tucked away and stuff like that

Are there spots in cases where you can tuck your IDE cables away at? I have a blue case coming with see through sides and I don't know if it is going to look like crap with IDE and all other cables laying around in it. disturbed Posted February 27, 2006 CID Share Posted February 27, 2006 i usually tuck away a lot of cables in the empty 'cd drive' slot - its a common spot, that way the air can efficiently circulate throughout the case.....cases have different designs, so when you get ur case and start putting it all together u will see what the best spot is

RTB Posted February 28, 2006 CID Share Posted February 28, 2006 Geez, calm down. The plastic washers are used to prevent the board from short-circuiting against the back of the case. Remember, patience is a virtue.
wyantm06 Posted February 28, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 28, 2006 no there are plastic things like a half inch long...5 of them...
wyantm06 Posted February 28, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 28, 2006 Ok here is what I am talking about. http://img489.imageshack.us/img489/940/s30100020hv.jpg where do these go? If we put them under the motherboard there is only like one spot for a screw. If we use these do I need the screw at all?
wyantm06 Posted February 28, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 28, 2006 Anyone please? I am trying to be patient. All I need is to get the motherboard in and connect. I got almost everything else done.
disturbed Posted February 28, 2006 CID Share Posted February 28, 2006 .....those plastic washers usually wouldnt go anywhere....most motherboards use standoff screws to get the motherboard from touching the case
