Guest jeffwalker9999 Posted February 28, 2006 CID Share Posted February 28, 2006 Edit: I split the topic so the hard drive discussion would be seperate. As usual a split makes the posts look a little like spaming by grouping them closer togather. (cholla) I have found a new service/site that will delete your personal info from world wide search engines and they are cheap and a very good service check out this site http://www.deletenow.com/ "Most people don't know there is a big chance your name, address, phone number, and even a map to your house are currently available within seconds. And it doesn't take a programmer to find you; anyone with even the most basic computer skills and access to well known search engines, directories and databases can find your personal information quickly. " On a personal note: My old address in Canada and Phoenix was on the web and that was from like 1992 and is now deleted Also: I did not know that my posts on forums were on search engines all I had to do is search my user id to locate it and now they are deleted -thanks to this service Edit:I split the hard drive part into a seperate topic.(cholla) Edit by RTB: Spam. URL edited out. Better not post it again...
php Posted February 28, 2006 CID Share Posted February 28, 2006 Looks like a scam to me... and a PS... your address from 1992 was deleted because it's 14 years out of date, also I can search your username and come up with plenty of results @cholla... it lakes very little to wipe out a drive... certainly not a paid program. I've done it with a Windows 98 boot disk

Guest jeffwalker9999 Posted March 1, 2006 CID Share Posted March 1, 2006 how did this post get onto a harddrive delete topic the orig post was about deletement of info from web sites and search engines for cheap by [link removed] ?? ok--- now a question for you all ?? Is there a software application that will unpost or remove info from search engines and web sites ? I know that there are quite a few software app's for posting of web sites ( add to search engines ) (((( web position , webceo , and many url's )))) but unpostment app's - where are they ??? I've used webceo and others and put "no index" , "no follow" , "remove" meta tags to try to remove info fro search engines, but [link removed] is what I'm going to try now and see if they do what they say they can do Please:::::: Try to keep posts about the topic to :: Search Engine Removal of Personal Info and How To Protect Yourself Against Identity Theft On The Web i have found a new service/site that says that it will delete your personal info from world wide search engines check out this site http://www.[link removed].com/ "Most people don't know there is a big chance your name, address, phone number, and even a map to your house are currently available within seconds. RTB Posted March 1, 2006 CID Share Posted March 1, 2006 Agreed. What that website advertised is impossible to do thanks to the nature of the web.
cholla Posted March 1, 2006 CID Share Posted March 1, 2006 Hi all: I split this topic so if the URL posted by jeffwalker9999 looks like spamming it is because the posts with it are closer togather. So partly my fault.
RTB Posted March 1, 2006 CID Share Posted March 1, 2006 Still, I guess I'm gonna have to be the big bad moderator here. The first post by itself was a little odd, and even though there were posts in between originally, you kept posting the link. Once is enough :/ Again, it's just impossible to remove personal information on the web, if it's on sites you have no control over, and that includes search engines. To me it seems the owners of the website you posted it have found a way to make money easy, while not having to do anything for it. Second, I think the next time you should wait before editing things back until we had a chance of explaining eachother's actions in private. Communication's good, y'know cholla: No harm done. Guest jeffwalker9999 Posted March 2, 2006 CID Share Posted March 2, 2006 ??? got an question ??? meta tags and disscription terms when you post urls to search engines ?? If you were to put "no index" and "no follow" as the keywords and possibly also as the sites discription would that remove the listing from the search engine ?? "no index" and "no follow" from what I get, tell search engines not to (no) maybe thats what site does ?? would putting above work ?? As I know very little on how a search engines reference sites and to tell you really i'm interested in learning ps: spamming was discussed via pm and was rectified
RTB Posted March 2, 2006 CID Share Posted March 2, 2006 Haven't looked into it in detail, but I can say that a robots.txt is to be used when you want to control whether search engines can index a particular page. It's still not possible for someone to just go out an delete data on servers he/she/it only has read-access on.
