davidrose9 Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 I am new to Hughesnet and am having troubles trying to download some larger files I have the pro pac and am looking to get a pro + tomorrow so I can get a static IP it seems that port forwarding is my trouble and need to open a port to download faster I have speeds that last for a few minutes and then it slows up to under dial up speed. I hope this upgrade will do the trick 1.5 download and a static IP. If I sound a bit noob it is because I have been reading forums for 2 days now trying to figure this out and have come to this conclusion I wanted to see if my speed looked ok or is there something I am doing wrong? tommie gorman Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 Try this: Start in lower left corner*All Programs*Accesories*System Tools*Disk Cleanup*check all boxes under files to delete*OK It cleans out your temp files in a different way. deven Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 tommie you forgot the firewall thingy. I went round and round with z/a, finally went back to windows firewall. Have run all the proper test and they say I'm invisible. My speeds were better. Just a thought.
tommie gorman Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 I never used zone alarm, so I was not familiar with it. I always used windows firewall. But firewalls do make a diff. Thanks deven

tommie gorman Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 You might try this one with premade settings. Or just use the numbers in it, click on the clipped attachment above the pic. The first post. Just follow the instructions and Don't forget to back up your present file just in case you like the results you have now. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1703
