tommie gorman Posted November 18, 2006 CID Share Posted November 18, 2006 I just figure if you have space you might as well go CRT. Cheaper and more reliable.
Roco Posted November 18, 2006 CID Share Posted November 18, 2006 I just figure if you have space you might as well go CRT. Cheaper and more reliable. Hi Tommie , exactly my view , 11 months back , then my good old HP monitor died, so bite the bullet time, I found I could get lcd for the same money as crt , no gaming for me but I do some photo stuff, and could do with some more real; estate on the desk, for dinner , coffee , etc, and the occasional naked female ( I wish, ) I got a Benq fp71g+ , nah, I would not go back to CRT now, it is running fine, and no sign of my bigest fear, dead pixels, and crystal clear still ,
tommie gorman Posted November 19, 2006 CID Share Posted November 19, 2006 Then that is good to hear Roco, and my kids are old enough it should not matter so much about them with ink pens around it and such. Maybe my next one might be a LCD, maybe. The way they weilded ink pens I was able to imagine them just wanting to poke a hole in one. Roco Posted November 19, 2006 CID Share Posted November 19, 2006 m you forgot "you can also kill your eyes" Hi dlewis23 and Guy's, anyone else had this problem with the switch from CRT, I developed bad headaches after the switch ,I tried all their brightness adjustments etc, and left the computer alone for a few days, I found some comments on the internet , that indicated that I was not alone with this problem , it was suggested the headaches would go after about 2 weeks and sure enough they did, the headache was centred at the back of the eyes, anyone else noticed this ? my monitor BenQfp 71 G+ just curious, and no problems since

I actually have problems using a CRT now it gives me a headache because im use to not seeing the monitor flicker
tommie gorman Posted November 19, 2006 CID Share Posted November 19, 2006 you forgot "you can also kill your eyes" You might have to explain that one. What flicker? Mine did not come with that feature.
dlewis23 Posted November 19, 2006 CID Share Posted November 19, 2006 You might have to explain that one. a ctr flashes 60 or so times ever second, the consistent flashing hurts and kills yours eyes thats why you get a headache when you look at a crt for a long time. A LCD doesnt have that because is doesnt refresh the same way.
tommie gorman Posted November 19, 2006 CID Share Posted November 19, 2006 So just how long do you have to be on one to get the headache? I have never noticed it. Also mine is a Samsung 19". It is pretty close up.

tommie gorman Posted November 19, 2006 CID Share Posted November 19, 2006 'I am assuming this is the same thing for T.V.'s of the tube variety? I never even noticed it when I was a kid watching T.V. That sounds a little strange. Guess my wifes eyes ought to really bother her then. She lives in front of the damned thing all day, til the phone rings, or her belly growls. Grambler Posted November 20, 2006 CID Share Posted November 20, 2006 Just replaced my MAG 17" CRT with this model, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824009091 Like the LCD much better and love the wide format.
tommie gorman Posted November 20, 2006 CID Share Posted November 20, 2006 So there is no refresh rate on LCD's then? Looks like a good price Grambler, but I would prefer a standard screen if I were looking for me. Which I am not as of yet.
dlewis23 Posted November 20, 2006 CID Share Posted November 20, 2006 So there is no refresh rate on LCD's then? there is no refresh rate on a LCD so they dont hurt your eyes, the crystals on a LCD turn thats why there is a response time.
