tommie gorman Posted December 14, 2006 CID Share Posted December 14, 2006 Welcome to the forum overboost LIke FiberOptic said, try a larger file. You are not even letting the connection warm up. Try one of these, and clear out your temp files before ckicking on them as it will take you directly into the test. http://www.testmy.net/dl-579 http://www.testmy.net/dl-1013 http://www.testmy.net/dl-1496 You should see better scores. tommie gorman Posted December 16, 2006 CID Share Posted December 16, 2006 So you did clean it and tweak it? Did you use the TCP Optimizer, or the cablenut?? If it was the TCP Optimizer, what did you set the dial at?
overboost Posted December 16, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 16, 2006 i used the cablenut program and set it to fastDSL, but for the tcp optimizer...ooops i'll try to install it now. BTW what are the best settings on my system if im going to use the TCP optimizer lots of thanks for the help tommie gorman !!!
tommie gorman Posted December 16, 2006 CID Share Posted December 16, 2006 I would probably start at 256 and go up til it starts to lower speeds considerably. And don't forget it takes 2 or three days to fully set in on Optimizing. Best wishes. And as always, you might already be at top speed. I just figure it never hurts to check. tommie gorman Posted December 16, 2006 CID Share Posted December 16, 2006 Go ahead and play with the dial on it. But after you have it as far as it appears to change it forthe good, then wait a few days. And set it at "Optimal Settings" on each tab. That should work. I remember waaaaaay back I was reading on some forums that when you set the TCP Optimizer dial to 50000 it would make your connection soooo much faster. falco Posted December 24, 2006 CID Share Posted December 24, 2006 I would say it might be a congestion issue. With small ISP's, this can be a problem. I have that problem(more users online=slower download speed).
