starship_troopers Posted May 13, 2007 CID Share Posted May 13, 2007 my monitor keeps going dark around the corners and wont go away untill i degauss, and is kind of blurry down at the bottom right corner where the clock is... bad monitor? thanks, starship_troopers
Swimmer Posted May 14, 2007 CID Share Posted May 14, 2007 I have never really had to degauss a lot on my CRTs. Do you by chance have a speaker or something near the monitor that is not shielded? That can cause conditions that you are talking about.
DJVageli Posted May 14, 2007 CID Share Posted May 14, 2007 Or did some kind of magnet pass by the monitor?
starship_troopers Posted May 14, 2007 Author CID Share Posted May 14, 2007 nope only thing i have by my monitor is my tower, which has been setup like this since i have setup my first pc (2 towers before now). it's only started recently, and when i turn it on it takes forever for the picture to come up. (and no magnets/speakers have been by it. my subwoofer is below my desk and off to the side a little.)

coknuck Posted May 15, 2007 CID Share Posted May 15, 2007 my suggestions..... go LCD LCD is the best thing I did this year. Great picture, response is good. Picture starts a lot faster at start up and the best thing is my eyes don't get tired or hurt any more!
Blunted 2 Posted May 15, 2007 CID Share Posted May 15, 2007 my CRT works great and does better resolution than most LCD screens which is why i like CRT. the only 2 monitors i saw do higher was a dell 30 inch LCD and an Apple 30 inch LCD which both do 2560 x 1600. post up the max resolution supported by your monitor ? my 19 inch Samsung CRT does 2048 x 1536
php Posted May 15, 2007 CID Share Posted May 15, 2007 yeah, but is that even readable? I wouldn't wanna go much past 1280x1024 on a 19inch...
resopalrabotnick Posted May 15, 2007 CID Share Posted May 15, 2007 The sad fact is that nowadays mos LCD screens don't have the degauss function anymore. If you have one that shows interference patterns, a bad picture or has other problems like bad pixels you can use an ion gun as seen here to recharge the field emitters of the LCD grid in that area to fix the problem. I wouldn't wanna go much past 1280x1024 on a 19inch... i dont use that high for my desktop but for gaming yes i put it as high as it can go and i have my desktop set to 1600 x 1200 and i can read it perfect. i was just trying to say most CRT's have better resolution
