JH2688 Posted August 8, 2007 CID Share Posted August 8, 2007 I was reading through the forums and i saw that a lot of you guys build your own computers and an i idea popped into my head and i thought I could build one too. so i searched around and found these, which i thought would make a pretty good computer. I just need your guys help with it. heres what i found so far: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811144102 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820146580 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822144423 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813186109 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819115014 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827248006 what do you guys think. all for only $430. I got to make sure it will all work together. And that i have everything to make it run. I dont know much, but i believe i can do it. The only thing im worried about is the software. Will all of it just work right away or will i have to install this stuff. My brother know more about computers so im sure he'll be helping me. I plan to upgrade even more in the future, like getting a good video card. I really want to be able to run it though my tv (hopefully in HD). I could use any advice you guys have. Shug7272 Posted August 8, 2007 CID Share Posted August 8, 2007 Great man, you will love it and do great. Just make sure your mobo chipset matches your processor. Looks like a GREAT system for the price. Did you pick out a graphics card or did I miss it? I didnt see one. Oops I just read your post better. Roco Posted August 8, 2007 CID Share Posted August 8, 2007 well JH2688 , I faced that dilemma about 5 years back ,and knowing nowt about puters , 10 builds on without any real problems I can smile about it all , but I will never forget the first build ,(it went OK ) I can't comment on your parts as I am from the UK but I wish we had newegg over here !, anyway between your brother and TMN , you have access to the best help going , but wait for the experts opinion first , regards Roco UK

Shug7272 Posted August 8, 2007 CID Share Posted August 8, 2007 Thats makes me feel much better. Do i need the video card right away or can i just wait on that? And one more thing should i run vista? or can i ran vista? If your mobo has video you will do ok. I would say you COULD run Vista, but due to the fact you are building your pc and could have driver trouble anyway I wouldnt compound it with Vista. But you could run it fine. Buntz Posted August 8, 2007 CID Share Posted August 8, 2007 I went to Foxconn web site and found this. It show what is compatible with the motherboard you pick.http://www.foxconnchannel.com/EN-US/product/Motherboards/compatibility.aspx?model_id=en-gb0000215&model_name=G9657MA-8KS2H You may have to make some change to your shopping list. Also you still need to buy a power supply.

Buntz Posted August 9, 2007 CID Share Posted August 9, 2007 That happen some times. Now you have the right information to make up a new shopping list that will work with that motherboard. Just do not give up ,I built my first computer about 2 years ago and that the only way I will get a new computer now.
resopalrabotnick Posted August 9, 2007 CID Share Posted August 9, 2007 if you want to run vista i would recommend buying a big box system. that way you know it has all the drivers (should anyway) and you will save on the license since the oem with the box is cheaper than buying a retail for a homebuild. if you have an xp license lying around and are fine with it then go ahead and homebuild. JH2688 Posted August 9, 2007 Author CID Share Posted August 9, 2007 I was looking around at the AMD mother boards and i found this one. This one has an hdmi adaptor which is really nice. Is there a way to go from hdmi to componet. This board come with hdmi to DVI cable. What resolution can a DVI cable get? http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128052

JH2688 Posted August 10, 2007 Author CID Share Posted August 10, 2007 Ok I think this is my final list, hopefully. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813128052 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819103751 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820211066 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822148140 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827151141 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811144102 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817148027 All for $500, Its a little more than i thought but i think its worth it. I ended up going to 2-1GB of memory, it was less expensive to buy 2 than just 1. Can someone make sure that the memory will work with the MB. I couldn't find a memory compatibility sheet for it. My brother has a copy with windows XP that should work.
Buntz Posted August 10, 2007 CID Share Posted August 10, 2007 Here is were you can find what memory that works with that board. Look under Memory Support List. http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=2527&ProductName=GA-MA69G-S3H I do not see the memory that you want to buy there. But it could be a old list, call Gigabyte support and I am sure they can tell you if it will work with their board. You might want to change that 80mm rear fan to a 120mm fan to get better air flow in the case, Everything else looks good.
JH2688 Posted August 11, 2007 Author CID Share Posted August 11, 2007 Hey buntz i've tried thats site and when i click the memory support list, the page wont load. Ill see how the 80mm fan works if i think it is getting to hot ill put in a bigger one.
Buntz Posted August 11, 2007 CID Share Posted August 11, 2007 Memory support list is a pdf file download. You need to download and install a pdf reader,I use Foxit reader to read my pdf file. If it still will not work then call gigabyte and they will tell you if the ram will work. g
coknuck Posted August 11, 2007 CID Share Posted August 11, 2007 Every thing looks good to me. 1. 4 DDR2 DIMM memory slots (supports up to 16GB memory)(Note 1) 2. Supports dual channel DDR2 800/667/533/400 DIMMs 3. Supports 1.8V DDR2 DIMMs MB: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=2554&ProductName=GA-MA69G-S3H
Buntz Posted August 11, 2007 CID Share Posted August 11, 2007 I think he will be alright to ,it just the memory is not on the memory support list for that board. It never hurts to make a phone call to be sure.

JH2688 Posted August 17, 2007 Author CID Share Posted August 17, 2007 Hey guys, I got all my stuff on thursday. I got it all put together and working, it was so easy. The only hard part was figuring out where to plug everything in at.I still need a OS, but i have wait a week for my brother to get back from vacation so i can use one of his. Im thinking about taking a hard drive out of a different computer and sticking that one in there to make sure everything works smoothly. Heres some pics of it.
