Guest ExtremeFusion Posted September 28, 2007 CID Share Posted September 28, 2007 [move] :2funny: [/move] I thought I 'd like to write for those who are disbelievers of tweaking their SMARTBRO(KEN) CONNECTION or loose hope cause they feel nothing's happening So I conducted a little Experiment with this following conditions: Jitter: 2 RSSI: 766 Dist.: 0.66 miles away from the base station ISP: SmartBroadband Incorporated (OF COURSE, IS THERE ANY OTHER?!) And Here are the specs of My Computer: P4 2.4 Ghz/533 FSB/512KB cache 512 DDR 333 RAM 40 Gig Seagate 7200 (system Drive) 80 Gig Seagate 7200 (Slave Drive) CD/Rw +- LG (Secondary Master) DvD/Rw +- LG (Secondary Slave) 256 MB Inno 3d Nvidia FX5500 ASROCK GE PRO-M2 (mobo) 3COM Etherlink XL 10/100 PCI TX NIC (3C905B-TX) Additional environment conditions: My PC is Perfectly clean... Meaning no viruses, no spyware, no adware... and the likes, that could pose as a system Hog and not to mention I have no other runnming apps Except for my browser and SPYWARE TERMINATOR and AVG So here are the results: No Tweaks, No Proxy, No 20 Steps, No EXTRAS :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 166 Kbps about 0.17 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 20 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 36 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 97 kB) Upload Speed is:: 4 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2007/09/28 - 7:58am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-WD19QNM4I U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-F60OYNL5G User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) [!] With Proxy :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 367 Kbps about 0.37 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 45 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 167 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Upload Speed is:: 20 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2007/09/28 - 8:02am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-5M0H6SUNL U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-1C0SYUNMO User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) [!] With Proxy and 20 Steps (http://www.testmy.net/t-20438.0) :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 374 Kbps about 0.37 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 46 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 277 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Upload Speed is:: 34 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2007/09/28 - 10:02am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-0AQYNJPUC U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-IHJWEPGN1 User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) [!] With Proxy and 20 Steps (http://www.testmy.net/t-20438.0) + EXTRAS :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 376 Kbps about 0.38 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 46 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 319 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Upload Speed is:: 39 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2007/09/28 - 10:11am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-U89KVN2D4 U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-XIG5KYN1L User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) [!] With Proxy and 20 Steps (http://www.testmy.net/t-20438.0) + EXTRAS (on IE 7) :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 375 Kbps about 0.38 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 46 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 355 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Upload Speed is:: 43 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2007/09/28 - 10:25am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-MD8VXTF3O U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-VBE7DC4RX User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; FDM) [!] Note: EXTRAS are the additional tweakings like; FASTERPAGE LOADING INCREASE BUFFER DISABLING DNS CACHING AND IT WAS RAINING HARD WHEN I DO THIS TEST?! jun101ph Posted September 29, 2007 CID Share Posted September 29, 2007 EVEN YOU WILL NOT TWEAK YOUR PC FOR AS LONG AS YOU ARE HOOKED TO A GOOD BASE STATION THEN STILL YOU WILL HAVE HIGH INTERNET SPEED AND I PROVE THAT!!!
jun101ph Posted September 29, 2007 CID Share Posted September 29, 2007 PROOF: No tweaking on my PC (no TCP optimizer or cablenut): WARNING!!...do not post linking urls to other speed test sites per forum rules
gorge_1818 Posted September 29, 2007 CID Share Posted September 29, 2007 try the tweaks but dont use the proxy... hehehe...
jun101ph Posted September 29, 2007 CID Share Posted September 29, 2007 I have tried all the tweaks before. but it became useless when the base station is busted!!!

jun101ph Posted September 29, 2007 CID Share Posted September 29, 2007 I JUST GIVE MY STRONG OPINION EVERY TIME I USED BOLD LETTERS.hehe The fact is, WE can speed up our internet (our primary concern here) by continually SEARCHING and try hooking every available base station and select the MOST reliable one... I've spent a lot of time doing research to speed up my internet connection and tried all the possible tweaks. The best solution I discovered is the selection of the most stable base station. EVEN our pcs are not fully optimized ( no tweak on the system) for as long as we are connected to a reliable base station WE can experience beyond the advertised speed of smartbro. carts Posted September 30, 2007 CID Share Posted September 30, 2007 you cannot just beam your canopy to any base station on your area it will surely deactivate your account.. maybe you mean changing color codes..??
Guest ExtremeFusion Posted September 30, 2007 CID Share Posted September 30, 2007 I really don't know if I have a stable base station.. And I'm not fortunate enough to have a glitchy base station that could give me 1000+ kbps download speed But to me thios tweaking is fine as long as it really helps.. Haven't you noticed guys a dramtic change in my speed stats.. Especially my Upload stats.. From 4 kB/s to 43 kB/s (1075 % increase!!!) Download stats.. From 20 kB/s to 46 kB/s (230 % increase!!!) See the huge impact of tweaking... Tweaking woudn't hurt especially if you don't mess up your system config and registry entries.. HAHAHA! By the way, I'm here in Pulong Buhangin, Sta. MAria, Bulacan Usually the sector usage count at my place range from 15 - 25, is it too cloged? I mean, do we tend to slow the conection, becaus there is really a lot of is that uses the same AP.. (15 - 25, is not a small number)
carts Posted September 30, 2007 CID Share Posted September 30, 2007 @ExtremeFusion 15 - 25 users is really small compared to what color code i'm using at present 169 users!! but i guess the fallback of this is more accounts are coming in a month or two it might reach 200+ users guess i have to wait if it would affect my speed.. Guest ExtremeFusion Posted September 30, 2007 CID Share Posted September 30, 2007 you cannot just beam your canopy to any base station on your area it will surely deactivate your account.. maybe you mean changing color codes..?? Yes, APs to be exact... What do you know about base stations?! Can i actually do that? Beaming my canopy to another base station? Please tell me how and how do i find this base station... jun101ph Posted September 30, 2007 CID Share Posted September 30, 2007 you cannot just beam your canopy to any base station on your area it will surely deactivate your account.. maybe you mean changing color codes..?? Nop, you are probably wrong.you can beam or face directly your subscriber module to the access point (base station) if you know exactly the location of the base station. But if you don't know exactly where the base stations location are, you can still determine. There are several ways to do it, one is to tilt your antenna and observe at the Frequency spectrum ( which frequency indicates high power (in dbm, the more negative the weaker the power)) and at the AP list, which among of the APs register high RSSI value. From there, you can now try every possible codes and see which one works for you.
jun101ph Posted September 30, 2007 CID Share Posted September 30, 2007 ofcourse, that's silly if you just faced your SM to other AP/basestation without changing the color for that new AP.

Because I have to climn up the roof just to tilt my canopy.. No, no, no.. I would not exert such effort in climbing our foof... hehehe
jun101ph Posted September 30, 2007 CID Share Posted September 30, 2007 hehehe that is only applicable if you can physically access the SM
carts Posted October 1, 2007 CID Share Posted October 1, 2007 @jun101ph even if you change the color code on another base station it wont work your account will be deactivated..
carts Posted October 1, 2007 CID Share Posted October 1, 2007 @jun101ph further explanation maybe you are misleading the topic.. example your canopy is beamed to cellsite 1 (base station) exactly working with good color codes.. cellsite 1 is located north of your location.. then you want to try to beam your canopy to another cellsite example cellsite 2 which is located south of your location. this will not work since your original base station is cellsite 1.. yes you can get good colorcodes on cellsite 2 but you cannot access or browse the internet because your account will be deactivated.. before posting try this yourself and dont post as if you know it all okay?.. jun101ph Posted October 1, 2007 CID Share Posted October 1, 2007 @cart Hey you cart, before I post anything in here I have tried and tested everything and to see to it that it really works. Yes it will deactivate TEMPORARILY!!! if the smartbro has already deactivated your roaming capability of your SM. BUT for some subscriber's SM are still roaming capable(smart have not deactivated it yet). But there's always a way for your to to activate SM's roaming capability by simply requesting it to TSR for activation (ofcourse give them valid reason why you need it activated). I won't ASSUME I know everything IF I don't really know this thing, OkAY!

carts Posted October 1, 2007 CID Share Posted October 1, 2007 @jun101ph so im right it will be deactivated so whats your point saying its not true and you quoted and disagreed that what im pointing out is wrong?? dont disagree if your not sure what you disagree.. im right and dont dispute my post! jun101ph Posted October 1, 2007 CID Share Posted October 1, 2007 the fact is you can still roam your SM to other base station. though it's not simple as one two three. Once you tweak your canopy there is the presumption that atleast you have a little knowledge on it. I don't think I have to spoon feed everything.
