wknight40 Posted July 11, 2009 CID Share Posted July 11, 2009 The big differance with the speeds could be distance from the server you are testing from. What OS are you using? XP and 2000 can usually be tweaked by Cablenut easily. Vista does not work. At least not for me it did not. Vista usually does fairly well on it's own to keep the speeds up. Linux and Mac I do not know if the OS can be tweaked for better speeds.
tommie gorman Posted July 11, 2009 CID Share Posted July 11, 2009 It can also depend on internet traffic. It all depends. Also is it clean? http://www.testmy.net/t-4257 And aboard tryk.

zalternate Posted July 12, 2009 CID Share Posted July 12, 2009 Also it would depend on who your ISP is, and what form your Internet is(cable, wireless, DSL).

zalternate Posted July 12, 2009 CID Share Posted July 12, 2009 Is the 2wire test for you, coming from the States or from Asia? Seems to give an accurate result for me and it is apparently coming from Atlanta area for me. If they have many business customers on the same line area. A timed throttle would be a slow down at a certain time(8 to 12 hours) each and every day.

zalternate Posted July 12, 2009 CID Share Posted July 12, 2009 My ISP being DSL, they have a problem with the default settings for the upload speed, when they move a client to a faster speed tier. Someone has to go in and change the profile of the upload speed. Or sometimes the customers card in the DSL node has gone bad and needs to be changed out. Has this been happening for long? Or is it just in the short while.
zalternate Posted July 12, 2009 CID Share Posted July 12, 2009 Also are you connecting straight to the DSL modem and by-passing your router(not using it). To determine whats to blame.
tryk Posted July 12, 2009 Author CID Share Posted July 12, 2009 its been like this. when i report it they will fix the problem internet speed on both upload and download will be fast for 3weeks to a month but after that upload speed will go slow again have to report it again and they will fix it again and it will be a routine lol.. yup its directed towards my router but i tried to direct it straight to my pc upload problem is still slow
