mudmanc4 Posted August 28, 2009 CID Share Posted August 28, 2009 Hey Jeff, good to hear your still pissin and moanin about vista :haha: Thats one nasty trcrt you got there, and your so close the the server eeek. Now I know better then to treat you as a beginner, you having all those years in the computer field as you have, you have more knowledge about this stuff then most of us here ! If not all of us. So when you have a question like this, I dunno where to go. Whats the connection like now, are you still in the same building with the same connection ? From what you posted, looks as if there's still a router in the planet that isn't configured right, even though just before it, there's a 500MS return from within cox. ;/

dn0 Posted September 3, 2009 CID Share Posted September 3, 2009 Happy B-Day Mr Walker and happy to hear you are feeling better - from what I can see your modem has been running well for the last couple days. 3.6 billion UN-errored packets; 77 corrected (meaning the packets were corrected via the error correction process) and zero UNcorrectable packets. Don't ask me how I know this; it is a secret Ninja thing- but please RE if you want more info.
tdawnaz Posted September 3, 2009 CID Share Posted September 3, 2009 your ?? - this is how to do it tracert or ping via command prompt tracert www.testmy.net C:>tracert www.testmy.net k...got that thank you... now how do u copy it?
mudmanc4 Posted September 3, 2009 CID Share Posted September 3, 2009 k...got that thank you... now how do u copy it? On the cmd window somewhere click "alt+space+p" , a menu will appear, click properties, look for "quick edit mode" tick that box, once thats enabled, you can left-click in the cmd window and highlight whataver text you want to copy, then just hit return and it'll be copied to your clipboard, you can paste similarly. Since you would not have asked this question I am assuming quick edit mode ia already one because copy doesn't appear in quick edit mode, so just right click in the cmd window, and hit "mark" then you can select like you would anywhere else, (it'll turn white) then hit enter, and it's in your clipboard. Hope I said that right lol

mudmanc4 Posted September 3, 2009 CID Share Posted September 3, 2009 That just mean the router is set to not respond to pings, most of the time. 'm sure it could be many other things, but thats the general reason. Looks ok though really, you having issues ?
tdawnaz Posted September 3, 2009 CID Share Posted September 3, 2009 no not really...i need a new modem...my modem is 7 years old...tech at cox a few weeks ago said he could even see me...said "are you sure you're connected to the internet"...asked me to do a speed test at some stupid site...i told him i'd do it here...so he started surfin around in here while i did my test...he liked it here...any way he was amazed that i was connected cuz he couldn't see me...told me to start budgeting for a docsis3 modem...said i'm gonna need it soon. during that call was when i found out that i'd been upgraded to 12/1 from 7/512 yeah!!! mudmanc4 Posted September 3, 2009 CID Share Posted September 3, 2009 Alright, but when I have mine set to not reply to pings, that is what I get as well. Now it may be that there's something wrong in the configuration that doesn't allow it to respond, i dunno.

mudmanc4 Posted September 4, 2009 CID Share Posted September 4, 2009 no i'm sure ur right...i was just telling one of my droll stories You know what , I was for some reason thinking we were talking about the router, I dunno :/ So something else now, you tellin me that cox makes there users pay for a modem ? Thats insane, and hard to believe. What a bad wrap ! Never heard of it around here, the ISP's have there own modems. Now I do have a linksys modem I used for a little while, it worked great, but when i switched to ISP VoIP, I switched back to there's, which is an old certifiable POS that no one can even get into, including the ISP. tdawnaz Posted September 8, 2009 CID Share Posted September 8, 2009 i don't think they rent them anymore but they did at one time...i bought this one years ago from cox...7 years or so ago...he was saying it's old...and to budget for a new one...and recommended that i shoot for something call docsis3...from where ever...but i don't think you can get them from cox anymore cuz he never hit me up for that...
