I thought that windows was an operating system, Apple had its own operating system (those are the big two) Than theres linux. And linux has nothing to do with windows or apple's OS. Entirely seperate entity. and Linux was based off Unix?

wknight40 Posted October 21, 2009 CID Share Posted October 21, 2009 Actually Mac OS X is now based on Linux at it's core.
sloppy87 Posted October 21, 2009 CID Share Posted October 21, 2009 Actually Mac OS X is now based on Linux at it's core. Wrong.... OS X is Unix based OS, with parts from FreeBSD and NetBSD in the original Nextstep OS. 10.5 & 10.6 have shed some of the BSD parts, but its still a BSD unix OS at the core. There is no linux in OS X. wknight40 Posted October 21, 2009 CID Share Posted October 21, 2009 Ok, I'm wrong. There is no Linux in OS X. But did you sign up just to point that out or do you have other things to provide?
