DNAST1ST Posted November 19, 2009 Author CID Share Posted November 19, 2009 also read something about pathping i used it but not sure how to read the statistics but it read everything twice as 1 0ms 0/100 = 0% 0/100 = 0% : 0/100 = 0% and when use regular ping i got minimum =109ms maximum = 110ms, average = 109ms no packets lost from them either, and the ping test.com i score high and well aswell.><
mudmanc4 Posted November 19, 2009 CID Share Posted November 19, 2009 So even though your test score is good, your ping to the game server is bad ? Am i missing something ? This would mean that the server your connecting to , to play the game, and the route to it, is causing the issues. What are you pinging ? Even so, no matter, 109 Ms should NOT be an issue for playing a game . So maybe we need to look elsewhere for the problem.
DNAST1ST Posted November 20, 2009 Author CID Share Posted November 20, 2009 the issue is i'm lagging rather badly in all online games with my pc and my ps3, but i'm reading all good status when i test them on speedtest.net and ping.net and testmy.net , i had this issue at my old home aswell but thought maybe was a pc issue then we moved and i have a ps3 now and both of them are lagging in the same way at a new home. i'm almost possitive it's the internet service though and not my equipment. DNAST1ST Posted November 20, 2009 Author CID Share Posted November 20, 2009 when it comes to ping say for instance modern warfare 2 i'm always placed in the 100ms games, but i always still lag. don't them putting me in specific ones a point to keep everyone from not lagging in it? but again i'm lagging pretty hard and cant play games. internet works, my bet when i call comcast today when they open is they will check see it is working take me to a internet test site and say see works good we not responsible for gaming or consules and have a good day><
DNAST1ST Posted November 21, 2009 Author CID Share Posted November 21, 2009 getting alot of 40-100 ping reading in the pingnet.test site now, i read maybe one or 2 yesterday , today alot of them but earlier i was not seeing anything less then 20ping but still lagging, i been testing it while game is running though this time and these are the reading i get now 40-100ping. anyone know what is going on with my internet. mudmanc4 Posted November 22, 2009 CID Share Posted November 22, 2009 When you said this was going on at your last place, and that you say you get decent pings in testing, to me, this looks like the issue is within the machine itself. Maybe I missed something ? Maybe , you could try uninstalling, then re install, or no ?
DNAST1ST Posted November 22, 2009 Author CID Share Posted November 22, 2009 well i've redownloaded my pc from scatch a few times when i thought was my pc maybe had the issue but it didn't fix it, neither does just going modem without a router. and have this issue with ps3 now since i bought one aswell. times the lag is minimal but still exesive specially for what i pay for. theres nothing i can think of to rid the lag. spudler_t Posted November 22, 2009 CID Share Posted November 22, 2009 I didn't see where you live but I know here In portland, OR we have a server issue or a router or something. I used to get 16+Mbps download and 6+Mbps upload and a 11-24ms ping, but for the last 2 weeks or more I have been getting a 300+ms ping and a download of 10+Mbps and a upload of 0.3-0.5 Mbps. I have tried everything except switching out my modem. Then today I just tested 1 1/2 min ago and I get a 24ms ping again and my download is back to 16+Mbps and a upload of 6+Mbps. I noticed all kinds of page opening issues and other online problems with the extremly high ping. The sadast thing is all 3 times I talked to Comcast tech they said they could see no Issues with my modem and they never mentioned anything about a server issue or router issue. I wish they would just be honest and say "ya we are having issues and are trying to fix them"rather then blow me off.
DNAST1ST Posted November 22, 2009 Author CID Share Posted November 22, 2009 how do you acutally test a ping from a cod5 server, when i'm acually playing if i open the players member stats it will show all our pings and it is what i go by, it usually reads like 70 but always seems laggy, makes hard for aiming and accuracy. also i agree with you spud, for instance on a different subject at my old home b4 comcast i ordered verizon and for the hole time i had it the line was choppy and shuting in and out and time lagging and many issues online, for 4 months many many hours of being on phone with techs for them to verify an issue and me being able to talk to them when it acually was acuring, and 5 technitians at my home at different times all leaving saying it is fixed where it usually lasted for bout 30-3hrs b4 it was a problem again >< ...finally after all that they said sorry we cannot provide serverise in your area it is a little off from lenght and relieved me of serverice, witch in fact screwed me cause with a triple play package the other 2 items phone and cable are different even if packaged and not there problem say the least when i got scewed royaly. mudmanc4 Posted November 22, 2009 CID Share Posted November 22, 2009 Hmm form your last post DNAST1ST , sounds like this is more of an "old hardware / lines " issue with comcast ? I don't play online games much at all, so I wasn't really aware that you could choose your server, say like you can with half life.
Crazy Naru Posted December 31, 2009 CID Share Posted December 31, 2009 did you try to play those online games offline? It sounds like you are having hardware lag instead of server lag. Perhaps the network card you are using is causing the issue. I had a bad network card once where internet was perfect in speed but had a hard time with games. But you did say you are having problems with your PS3 as well. Check the house line for the cable. You cant have too many devices or a weak splitter on the same line as the modem. Make sure that all of your splitters are 1000Mghz and that they are good. They do go bad after time
DNAST1ST Posted December 31, 2009 Author CID Share Posted December 31, 2009 I can play offline games just fine on my pc, also yes problem is persistent to all my hardware. ps3, wii, pc games. my latest thing i called comcast they had me pick up a new modem but that did not fix the issue. i need to call them again but they said on there end everything seems fine and i doubt there is anything on there end to fix>< where would these cable splitters you speak of be in the crawl basement? basically i'm connected with the wire from there right to my modem is all. and with or without a router is same. Buntz Posted December 31, 2009 CID Share Posted December 31, 2009 where would these cable splitters you speak of be in the crawl basement? basically i'm connected with the wire from there right to my modem is all. and with or without a router is same. The splitters could be anywhere. Go outside and find the place where the cable enters the house. There may be one there, if not follow the cable line from there up to your modem. I had one go bad on me ,the tv work fine, but I could not get online at all. Also check the cable lines out.
DNAST1ST Posted January 4, 2010 Author CID Share Posted January 4, 2010 well i checked for the splitter and it is a 5-1000 3way splitter also looks like its new from when we got internet 4months ago cause the old one was on the ground next to it. so at this point i am stumped on what to do><
dlewis23 Posted January 4, 2010 CID Share Posted January 4, 2010 A splitter really wont cause lag, it will cause other issues with the connection like dropping out. Post some trace routes to servers your playing on that are having lag.
