nerdygrl14 Posted January 10, 2010 CID Share Posted January 10, 2010 hi i was going 2 download a free virus scanner)AVG) When i get the option should I run or save it?
starship_troopers Posted January 10, 2010 CID Share Posted January 10, 2010 both do the same thing. run just saves the install as a temp. file while it installs, and save saves the file to your drive. but in the end they are the same process. one just saves the install file. of course the "install" file, really is just a file that downloads the program files from grisoft then installs...so either way. nerdygrl14 Posted January 10, 2010 Author CID Share Posted January 10, 2010 thx for the answer. So it doesnt matter if i run it or save it? i mean it will still stay available for me when I want to use it?
starship_troopers Posted January 10, 2010 CID Share Posted January 10, 2010 yep. it will get installed either way. just saving it saves the install file as well. but either way AVG gets installed to your computer.
tommie gorman Posted January 11, 2010 CID Share Posted January 11, 2010 Actually with save you have to find it to activate it also. If your gonna use it right away and set it up immediatly its much easier to just run it. But if you just want it for some day, save is fine. starship_troopers Posted January 11, 2010 CID Share Posted January 11, 2010 That works on my Vista box, but seldom on my XP. Maybe it was just my box. i know with newer versions of firefox it makes a downloads folder. and in win 7 it has one in the libraries folder. dlewis23 Posted January 11, 2010 CID Share Posted January 11, 2010 That works on my Vista box, but seldom on my XP. Maybe it was just my box. Thats because XP was set to have it go to the desktop. The downloads folder thing didn't start till windows vista. Its a good idea, I just wish Microsoft didn't hide it in the My Documents/Libraries folder. I hate going though a few folders just to get to the downloads.
