sparky Posted December 27, 2007 CID Share Posted December 27, 2007 I have a question, you state your not on a PRO plan in one of your posts back on Page 4 of this topic, yet your signature says you are on a pro plan and on another post you say your paying $80 a month! so what is it? Also, why does most of your speed posts not contain a validation link? Just curious. Ok guys I have the DW4000 and tweaks, not on pro plan. Reason I do not post is when I do some people, do listen to my suggestions or call me a liar. I have had DW4000 for over 3 years now. I tried the DW6000 and did not care for it and went back to the DW4000 a year ago and no extra charge. I did have to keep the DW6000, which I sold. Hope this helps. ::::::::::.. JCDisciple Posted June 3, 2008 CID Share Posted June 3, 2008 After being a Hughesnet (grumpily barely satisified) for two years, I am starting the fight all over again to level 4 engineering. My usual speeds were consistent after they replaced my IDU twice, and finally pointed my antenna to a different Sat. My usual speeds averaged 900+ Down/190+ Up (Pro Package $79.99/mo) Until two weeks ago. My download speeds are fine. My uploads are having major uplink queuing issues (according the to advanced diagnostics table) Only in the late hours of the evening do I get my speeds up. But my job and work are during regular hours. I had good service for two years. Not now. sparky Posted June 3, 2008 CID Share Posted June 3, 2008 Its is crazy that we have to keep fighting with these idiots to get any sort of service, its crazy that we have more time logging issues then we do using the service, what is up with that. zeddlar Posted July 24, 2011 CID Share Posted July 24, 2011 The new speeds with the 9000 systems. The upload limit is the same so not gonna post a test for it but the upload speeds are staying closer to plan speeds now. Rumor has it we may get to keep these speeds and the 7000 systems are soon to see an increase as well. guess it is a wait and see game now. zeddlar Posted September 4, 2011 CID Share Posted September 4, 2011 Still clicking along and some of the HN7000s users are now seeing these speeds and for anyone that didn't know these are official upgrades.
etwx100 Posted October 27, 2011 CID Share Posted October 27, 2011 I'm curious, after reading the posts on this and other forums about Hughesnet speeds, what is a reasonable download speed for the Hughesnet home plan (the basic bottom tier - now 250 limit)? I have a 7000S modem, on 113 West. This is my average for 15 tests today: https://testmy.net/avg/etwx100.png Is this typical? I'd appreciate some input. Thanks. zeddlar Posted November 18, 2011 CID Share Posted November 18, 2011 Those speeds are way slow, if you havn't already then go to the hughesnet forums and ask for help. Probably your only option for improving them much if any is going to be to upgrade to a 9000 modem on the KA systems.
tommie gorman Posted November 18, 2011 CID Share Posted November 18, 2011 When I was on Hughes.net mine ran best if I kept it clean constantly. Spyware, defrag, crap cleaner, and grounded including static. I ran 1030's DL with the 6000 modem. Just FYI I guess.
hophi Posted November 24, 2011 CID Share Posted November 24, 2011 I have been pleasantly surprised by this uptick in speeds. Just got a similar one at 3.1 in the middle of the day! And last night (and it could be an accident) but my FAP was doubled!!!!! I'm on HN9000.
hophi Posted November 24, 2011 CID Share Posted November 24, 2011 I have to admit I don't understand Hughes or their policy. While their speeds have increased recently I thought my FAP had doubled. When the 24 hr period just ended, this is what I see on the download allowance status page. Plan allowance 1050 MB, allowance remaining 658 MB. Can anyone explain this? I am paying for 425 MB and getting 525 MB and was afraid to say anything so I stayed with it. Now they're telling me my plan is double but I'm getting 50% more. Regardless, I'm using it all. tommie gorman Posted November 26, 2011 CID Share Posted November 26, 2011 Its usuallly just best to enjoy. And not worry I'd say. Not like they are going to take it back.
zeddlar Posted November 28, 2011 CID Share Posted November 28, 2011 It is a roll over feature, your bucket still fills by the same amount as always but you can bank your unused allowance up to double your normal allownace. To get 658 MB then that means you carried over 133MB from yesterday and got your daily refill of 525 MB which adds up to that 658 MB. Enjoy. They have alos been throwing around some free tokens, not sure who all is getting those but I havn't seen any yet other than my usual one a month. There is also talk about allowing tokens to roll over from month to month which would also be a nice feature but I don't know when or if it will be implemented for sure. hophi Posted November 29, 2011 CID Share Posted November 29, 2011 Thanks for the update. It sure looks like rollover. Recently I was using less of the daily allowance and getting more at the end of my day. Of course, they're not going to inform you that their policy has changed (if it has). Well, I'm enjoying what I have, especially the improved speed, after 6 years and upgrades to more improved modems. During this period, i have been promised DSL from Qwest (now CenturyLink) with frequent excuses and broken promises. Even contacted my state Senator who applied some pressure and so far I've gotten more promises which have not been kept. So as you know with only Hughes available, I'll take what I can get. zeddlar Posted November 29, 2011 CID Share Posted November 29, 2011 Actually they did post an update today explaining the new rollover feature on their website.
fikester Posted December 2, 2011 CID Share Posted December 2, 2011 Im not sure about rollover, however my Download allowance or FAP limit has doubled.
zeddlar Posted December 5, 2011 CID Share Posted December 5, 2011 Yups, thats the rollover, your bucket refills by the same amount that it always did but you now also sve what you had left untill you reach double your old limit. They are talking like that might not be the last of the loosening grip either.
tommie gorman Posted December 5, 2011 CID Share Posted December 5, 2011 That certainly is a big improvement in the last 6 years. Not bad Mtnfolk.
fikester Posted December 6, 2011 CID Share Posted December 6, 2011 My speed has been between 2-4Mbps even during the peak evening hours.....overall not many issues since I have been on the Ka band. https://testmy.net/4LXDct9.png
zeddlar Posted December 20, 2011 CID Share Posted December 20, 2011 Still improving.... SMOKIN.....well for Hughesnet it is. Double checked that with a 107 MB file download and it is accurate. Hope this keeps up. I get 1250 MB I can bank up every 2 days (if I ever used it, lol) and 5 MB connection. Not broadband yet but closing on it.
