organ_shifter Posted October 19, 2005 CID Share Posted October 19, 2005 I'd make the switch. You would have a nice selection of packages to choose from. 4000/384 6000/384 8000/

CrysTal M3th 1g Posted October 19, 2005 CID Share Posted October 19, 2005 Definetly stay with Sdsl, Comcast may look good, but it might suck depending on what kind of area you live in and if it is a city then say No Way!!!!
organ_shifter Posted October 19, 2005 CID Share Posted October 19, 2005 Comcast will definitely hold its own. It's cheaper, plus you get to watch TV on a great deal. You won't notice the upload speed difference too much at all. The only way you'd notice is if you went from like 2000Kbps or 1500Kbps to 768Kbps (upload). :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 966 Kbps about 1 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 118 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Wed Oct 19 13:36:06 EDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 17X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 8.68 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 176 % faster than the average for host (comcast.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-FLGIW5ROT
Swimmer Posted October 19, 2005 CID Share Posted October 19, 2005 Yeah.. as long as you are not in a problemed area.. you should be alright.. East coast and West coast are known to be bad areas... My guess is that you will not see that much of a difference between the upload speeds..

Blunted 2 Posted October 19, 2005 CID Share Posted October 19, 2005 thats why i ditched optimum online for dsl cause it was horrible speeds anywhere from 600 to over 950 kb upload and 4500 to 9500 download and looks like it might be impossible to tweak from all the traffic. optimum is supposed to be awesome but not here they arent so be careful cause i know that sdsl will charge you a disconnect fee if your contract is not up. hope you live in a small town if you get comcast
junkieXL Posted October 20, 2005 CID Share Posted October 20, 2005 Trash them both & move into VanBuren's basement lol :evil6: hmmm...Comcast, despite its regional saturation issues, is definitly the better bang for the buck...not too far in the near future, i see *DSL services becoming extinct, as it can not compete with the speed, reliability & low cost of cable pipes. -JxL
6arett Posted October 20, 2005 CID Share Posted October 20, 2005 Maybe later down the rode when all webservers can suppot you downloading over 1000 kb/s the swich is worth it. but if ur happy with ur sdsl keep it...i would want symetrical.. anox195 Posted October 20, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 20, 2005 well what do you use your sdsl for? i use sdsl to host mail and ftp servers, and sometimes MLG games on halo 2...
Blunted 2 Posted October 21, 2005 CID Share Posted October 21, 2005 then your comcast cant do that
anox195 Posted October 21, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 21, 2005 why? a 768kbps upload should be enough to do those things....
Blunted 2 Posted October 22, 2005 CID Share Posted October 22, 2005 not really if you want them to be half way decent then 768 is not enough and you'll get capped after a while. its upto you what you need but i wanna see you do this on cable without being capped the first month
spartus4 Posted October 22, 2005 CID Share Posted October 22, 2005 Stick with the sdsl. Comcast just plain sucks. I loose may connection everynight for about four hours (10pm-1am). Numerous techs have been out but they can only come out up till 8:30pm. So, they tell me that there is nothing they can do. Stick with the sdsl if it is stable. Comcast is anything but stable.
