FallowEarth Posted November 21, 2005 CID Share Posted November 21, 2005 Here's SP2 if you want it: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx Shouldn't affect your speeds tho. And yes, you should be able to increase your speeds, just follow reso's steps!

dn0 Posted November 21, 2005 CID Share Posted November 21, 2005 Ok now I am confused Welcome to the forum, Scam- They want you to read and follow the advice from the two following threads: http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=2097.0 http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=3924.0 It will take some time, but these are full of very good tips and info for speed help. FallowEarth Posted November 21, 2005 CID Share Posted November 21, 2005 Ok now I am confused Sorry, just to clarify my post. You don't need SP2 (Service Pack 2) for XP. Whether you have it or not will not affect your connection speeds, at least not significantly. And yes, both resopalrabotnick and myself were suggesting to click on the links that dn0 provided. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=2097.0 http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=3924.
Scams Posted November 21, 2005 Author CID Share Posted November 21, 2005 How do I find out the advertised speed? NVM I think I got it 384 kbs sound right?
dn0 Posted November 21, 2005 CID Share Posted November 21, 2005 Hey Scams, If you have Rogers' Lite tier, then your speeds would be right on: From Rogers' web site: (Link) "Surf and email at speeds much faster than dial-up. Modem set-up of up to 384 Kbps download and 96 Kbps upload. " You will have to check your bill or call them to find out what tier you have. The reason it may say 30.91% of your hosts average is exactly that; the average of all Rogers users here is just higher than your speed. But if that speed is what you are paying for, then there is no problem. If you are paying for their higher speed tier, then you do have an issue.
