richcornucopia Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 He could have had other programs consuming bandwidth when he took the first test, and not when he took the second test.
Ryan314 Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 thats what i was thinking, like maybe the first test was incorrect.. and then he installed cablenut and by coincidence his connection was back to normal

Voltageman Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 Anyway to max it out so that I'm getting the whole 100% or is that impossible? If you can get 90% of your Advertised Speed, you're doing OK.. Voltageman Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 Competition.... We had only Cablevision(Optonline), for the longest time...No DSL, only OOL or Dial up(lol not). Luckily my town got chosen for FIOS, and as a promo they offerred us the 30/5 for $55 for 12 months..(we shall see what happens in a year)...Cable was 10/1(which they just bumped up to 15/2 here for free to try and stop the flood of customers leaving), for $49...So we jumped on Fios...So happy we did... :::.. cdf216 Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 I highly doubt cablenut gave you that much of a jump in dl speeds...... but, maybe im wrong Actually Cablenut settings can cause that much of a difference. Take me for example, This is a Download result with the "standard" 64240 RWIN: http://www.testmy.net/s_engine.php?type=test_id&q=UCW79N50R and here is one after using Cablenut: http://www.testmy.net/s_engine.php?type=test_id&q=%09X23Z4UFSM As you can see there is a 339.80 % or 3.398 Times faster difference. resopalrabotnick Posted December 22, 2005 CID Share Posted December 22, 2005 actually, if his rwin was low enough and his connection fast enough to get the high score, then increasing the rwin appropriately can effect that change. i had a win98 machine that went from 750k to 3.5m simply by increasing the rwin. (because the default rwin on 98 is tiny)

cdf216 Posted December 29, 2005 CID Share Posted December 29, 2005 actually, if his rwin was low enough and his connection fast enough to get the high score, then increasing the rwin appropriately can effect that change. i had a win98 machine that went from 750k to 3.5m simply by increasing the rwin. (because the default rwin on 98 is tiny) That's exactly why it increased my speed so much. I'm on a 15 mbps connection. but windows default RWIN for XP can only support a 5mbps connection on average. so using cablenut to adjust RWIN allows me to get near maximum.
