  1. TestMy.net's new home server is online. Most people will almost immediately be on this server. It's a monster. With 2000 Mbps of connectivity, 4 200MB SSD in RAID5 array, 16GB RAM, Dual Intel Xeon-SandyBridge E5-2620-HexCore (24 threads of processing). Intensive mySQL queries I've ran query 10X+ faster than the old server. Some things that were so intensive that they couldn't execute on the old server pop right up on the new server. It's amazingly quick. This means snappier response all around. The old server was starting to reach full load during peak hours. Still operating correctly and handling the job, plenty of bandwidth available on tap... but the CPU load was getting higher than I'd like. So I put a more powerful server online. Enjoy!

Wow, thanks for the speed test and the PC speed up tool. My computer has been running pretty slow and this has been a great help so far. Kathy

    Comcast 30/6

Here's some more food for thought. Did Comcast give you a DOCSIS 3.0 modem? 30Mbps/6Mbps has almost an indefinite requirement for a DOCSIS 3.0 modem especially due to the upstream and downstream requirements. 30Mbps is near the limit of most QAM265 systems per downstream channel. If they gave you a D2 modem, get it swapped for a D3. That should fix the slow speed issues you're seeing. At the lower packages, a DOCSIS 2.0 modem does work fine. EDIT: Re-read the orignal post. That's a DOCSIS 2.0 modem. Also, from my own experience with the RCA/Thompson DCM425 units, those things are awful. It may just be the way Time Warner configures them or their firmware though! With my own experience, the RCA modem you have chokes at around 10Mbps, and often locks transfers at an unstable 8-12Mbps, and while it can do PowerBoost up to 30Mbps on 10-15Mbps profiles, it really struggles in real life transfers. I'm not quite sure how it performs in bridge mode though!

  9. Hi Marvin, When exactly does it shut down? In 15 years I've never had anyone tell me this... I don't think that Comcast or my service are to blame, you have to have a deeper issue it just happens that the methods that my tests evoke may be making the issue more apparent. ... or it's coincidentally shutting down. Go to my forum at https://testmy.net/ipb and post your issue, maybe someone has your answers there Cheers, - Damon

  10. Hey Dave, What is it.... like noon over there! As you can see, I don't sleep... am I a robot? You be the judge. Thank you for the feedback. I'll be exploring more detailed statistics, basically like you're saying, in my up coming versions. It's been a goal of mine to provide detailed statistics like that literally since version one. I have new techniques that I'll be implementing that will provide my users with exactly what you're talking about.... without having to bug all my users for private information. Although, it takes time. I am the entire website... I do every aspect of it myself. But I feel that what you're talking about is 6-8 months off and that's factoring in the fact that I have a baby due in early November. I actually wanted exactly THAT to be in version 12 but I want to take some time off for the baby so I released early. Thank you for taking the time to make a suggestion and let me know what you think. I really appreciate the feedback. Please tell your friends, TestMy.net is word of mouth Cheers! - Damon Mueller - TestMy.net (I hope you didn't read it in a robot voice... if you did, re-read it normally...) Not a robot... right? haha I take member suggestions very seriously and this has since been created, visit https://testmy.net/country for details.
