no, i am asking if you want to manually short the power switch cables on the power supply without going through the case/mainboad since that is all the switch in the case does. i have even ussed a homebuilt case where i didn't havea switch installed for months, so tggling the power switch meant touching 2 exposed wires that snaked out of the case. like hotwiring a car, lol. gave good atmosphere for gta. the reason i am asking you to disconnect everything else besides maybe a fan is to see if the power supply comes on when it is switched that way, and to avoid any damage to components if there is something wrong with it. when you switch it a you do now, does the ps fan come on? is there a mechanical swtch on the back of your ps, is it on?

hm. unplug the power supply from everything in the comp, hook up an aux fan to it and short the contacts of the power switch cable that would go to the board with a paperclip to see if the power supply is doa? CAUTION! RISKY!

for all parents and students out there, when it comes time for the history classes to inform you or your children about WWII i suggest you petition the school to show the episode 'why we fight' from the 'band of brothers' miniseries. i have watched that episode several times, but it still brings tears to my eyes when the american soldiers are shown liberating a nazi camp. the images are disturbing yes, but they also show the unspeakable horrors man can commit if evil goes unchecked.

it seems i failed to say something in my previous post, the reason i am so grateful for what the allies did is that i am german, and while not old enough to remember the wars the though of growing up under a nazi regime is truly scary. but for those brave men and women my life would have been very different.

just bite the bullet and reformat the sucker. even if you do manage to remove whatever it is, you will still have leftover stuff and screwed up settings in there. backup your data, scan it on a clean comp for any malware that tries to piggyback (hope you have a burner and access to a 2nd comp) and do a clean install, making sure that after you get the os up you first dl one or more antivirus/spyware progs and lock the box down before starting to install stuff, that way you avoid getting reinfected. (hopefully) good luck.

sorry, no idea how to tweak a mac, but i would say for specific apps mac is definitely better than windoze.
