  1. if i do have freeware on my pc, what is wrong with that? i find it amusing that you claim to know the content of other peoples systems and then imply that using freeware (ad-aware for example) is wrong. and klown, thehalfs post is edited. don't know wether or not you saw the original.
  2. 64 bit wep :haha:
  3. i can do 128 with an isdn line. fast pings too. stable as hell too. and i can choose to scale it down to 64 or 0 anytime i want 1 or 2 voice lines.
  4. i'm going to guess that you have an underground phone line, being in britain and not in the sometimes shockingly telecommunicationally challenged USA. (folks, i'm not knocking the usa here, it's just that you would expect the only remaining superpower to have figured it out by now and put /all/ the phone lines six feet under along with all the lower voltage power lines. that /might/ even cut back on the massive outages caused by storms. just my $0.02) anyhow. you say you're hooked up to a secondary plug. how does your telco cable for dsl? do you simply put a filter on each phone or do you get one splitter for the whole house, off which the dsl and the phone lines run? if so, is that secondary plug you're mentioning behind the splitter or does that line fork off before it. if you have a central splitter and that line forks off before it that might explain the problem. if you're not exactly sure what i mean, see if you can get a tech on the line again and explain exactly what you have, the problems etc. i know you've probably done it a millino times before, but be sure to mention where and how what is connected. did the tech measure signal strength at the appropriate points in the house or just where the line enters the building?
  5. k. first, read the 2 links in my sig then post all the info asked for if possible, otherwise it's kinda hard to help.
  6. so it's a coincidence that al asks and transedge replies to the proposed fix and then later the same thing in reverse?
  7. so what's the problem. you can't remember a simple password? or maybe you should leave out the caps when typing it in to make it easier...
  8. it's them damned space aliens i tell you!
  9. omg, malevolentduskchickie is multiplying. no wonder we've been advancing on 20k users so fast. half of em are his.
  10. look outside your window. see that white van with the tinted windows?
  11. no. because then the police will come and arrest you for theft.
  12. but you are transedge, whom i saw in another post being referred to as nighthawk by an admin. so how many id's do you have, and what the hell for?
  13. if that isn't a how to on stealing, i don't know what would be considered as such.
  14. so al244 is transedge also known as nighthawk? and the i finally got my xp working part in orig post sounds like demon2. might someone care to check the guys ip/comp id?
  15. your network connections probably show an ip like 192.168.xxx.xxx while the online ip is different. that's because the one your comp has is the one it uses to connect to the modem while the one seen online is the one your modem is assigned by your isp.
  16. it says 5400. that's the new high speed autofocus motors.
  17. hm. i have the terayon 715 too, and the only connectivity issue i have is when the power drops out.
  18. hm. why bother making a bootable cd yourself if you can just go to the store, i've even seen them in a well stocked supermarket for crying out loud, and buy a bootable version that even comes with printed documentation and purdy holographic sticker thingies.
  19. it's called photographic memory.
  20. um, no. 4 wires. two pair. it's a digital connection to the telco running on 2 pair. inhouse you have some rackmount gear that splits it into the 24 channels and then uses those for voice/data however you confgure it.
  21. picture a garden hose. picture a golfball. estimate how hard you would have to suck to move the golfball through the garden hose. that's how badly the score sucks. especially since you are paying or claim to pay 180 bucks for a mediocre download and an upload that's well under cap. if i was being ripped off that bad i would be most seriously pissed.
  22. well, evileveningchicken or whatever, dlewis is mistaken. the 64k up/down of the 24 channels would hardly be sufficient to handle a voip call. if you have a t1, which you don't, and you never will get in spite of having gotten pretty much all the info necessary to make a decision months ago, you can set the equipment on your end up to handle 24 simultaeneous voice calls. the phone number issue is usually handled by giving you a 10 digit phone number (xxx) xxx-xxxx and the option to assign internal extensions. making your phone number for a phone hooked up that way (xxx) xxx-xxxx ext. xxxx.
  23. your upload could suck a golfball through a garden hose.
