Peeps in the know...good upgrade?
resopalrabotnick replied to Indestructable's topic in General Discussion
yeah. and finding a quarter gig and a gig stick that runs not just the same speed but the same timing might prove difficult. -
i had a balky mouse and because it died on a friday and i didn't feel like picking one up over the weekend i ended up using the keyboard mouse controls for a few days.

well, the 256 running same as the 1 gig would be optimum or a workaround to the board not supporting deviating settings on the banks. -
still the man with 88. whooohooo!

go to the accesibility options in the control panbel and set up the keyboard mouse.

iirc cablenut has the option of displaying your current values. you can export those to a file or make a note of them, then tinker with it. i think it also lets you revert to default values, which should be the values you have now, unless you've done some manual tweaking.

so get 2 of the same gig sticks and add them to your exisitng mem. good thing the current meme is 2x256, that means it is already dual channel capable. the optimum would be to get the gig sticks with the same timing as the 256 sticks, otherwise you need to check if you can set the bios for different settings on different mem banks. on the issue of gamer ram, um, . it's all hype. compare the numbers, get what you want need, don't go for anything sold as 1337 gamer shit unless you want the flashy design. the only /possible/ advantage to 'gamer ram' (wtf is that anyway? ram that sucks at running word?) is that it might be more stable, /possibly/ when overclocking due to a large flashy heatsink or pseudo-heatsink. although some of the pseudo heatsink cases i've seen on ram sticks seem to act more like insulators than heatsinks. -
i guess you mean the mouse pointer. if there is no mouse plugged in, it should be there anyways... are your otyher problems possibly malware related? if so try right clicking and moving the mouse around, if the pointer is merely set to a single pixel or transparent a context menu should appear somewhere. you can then go to the control. panel to reset it. or you can go there via the keyboard, and also try setting the accessibility options for a keyboard control of the mouise if it is indeed the mouse itself having trouble. and do make sure it is plugged in. otherwise a little more info would help in solving troubles.

that's like setting up a poll on when do you think i'm gonna win the lottery.

usually, the more you copy a program, the worse it gets. every copyin process adds new single bit errors to the data. these can be easily corrected by the error correction codecs, but that takes processin time . so unless you're running a first installation off an original disk you are burning processing power to make up for the corrupted data.

more ram can't hurt. do you have paired modules installed now? would slightly less name brand ram be cheaper? remember, for the dual channel to work the sticks need only be of same specs. not even neccessarily same mfr, but that helps to be sure to get same specs. that matching modules is pretty much all hype. -
Bypass Password??? On Dell Latitude

ok. no -
that might explain it. the !!'s were like 3 lines full but w/o linefeed in the message window. i guess ie just snips at the b order while ff tries to display them, apparently the forum doesn't try to reformat to multiple lines which is strange in itself since it did so n the message window.

seeing the hype for the doom movie makes me wonder why they needed to come up with a story. wouldn't 90 minutes of gore have been enough for the target audience?

hmm. seems there's a pattern.

serves you right. :haha: :haha:

to quote william shatner, compare /before/ you buy... but seriously. your pings should be better with t1 than with cable. but the speed and how it is connected is sooooo different from your cable... you seriously didn't look into the specs and stuff before signing a 350 buck a month contract?

now i don't get it. does the fact that your friend gave you his backup copy to use (which means he violated his eula or commited piracy to get that copy) make it any less illegal for you to use it?

Looking for Wireless Card (for Desktop); Budget $20-$35
resopalrabotnick replied to Gryphon's topic in General Discussion
good luck on your diy cantentana! and one more thing, the signal strengths that are defined by the 802.11 standards are for marconi type antennas, meaning the simple omnidirectional kind. using a directional antenna can put the radiated signal strength over these limits. shouldn't be enough to harm anybody physically, maybe longterm, but if your neighbour gets messed up reception on his radio or something you are outside the fcc guidelines afaik. so do be careful how you point it. especially if a neighbor has a pacemaker...
