  1. reminds me of the purported tool to kill the system idle process since it uses so much cpu time....
  2. course you can always just upload to a server and then the server uploads to whomever wants to see your video.
  3. don't need everyone to have that job. the investigators probably didn't need to leave the office. hell, they even conned the guy into coming to the office to get arrested. (dumbass!) they do all the detective work online, if they need to seize a machine they send the goon squad. talk about a cushy desk job.
  4. are you sure the dvd drive is dvd-rw compatible?
  5. it probably looks like a lot of effort being put in to catch cybercrime because it is so easy to do. just sit in an office and follow the electronic trail.
  6. the easiest way would be to just throw them in an archive that's password protected. or you can set up users with different rights to folders, creating a user 'nosey houseguest' for them to use.
  7. people like that should be put into general population in the pen and the other inmates should be told he's a child molester/rapist.
  8. even worse, you figure out a way to disable that piece of software and play the cd anyway and you make yourself guilty of breaking the rules of the millenium copyright act. screwy that is.
  9. as much as i hate to agree with team id copr or his more appropriate methhead id, you are just borking your os. /if/ you had 2 connections and /if/ one of those ran on a device that can use firewire then you could /possibly/ combine them into one faster connection /if/ your isp allowed you to do so. but since all of that is highly unlikely, yes, you are simply giving your data the runaround inside your system and the system is caching the result.
  10. and a funky or dislodged ram stick will usually not result in rebooting. the bastartd will hang and/or not boot, but it shouldn't boot-cycle.
  11. wouldn't that be worse? of course, human bites aren't as immediately dangerous as dogs, but the human mouth is dirtier than a dogs and the bites tend to get infected more easily with all kinds of nasty bugs. we're like second only to the komodo dragon in that department, and that sucker uses lethal oral flora to kill his prey.
  12. i think you call that creative marketing
  13. my bad on the nic's then, good for you! so why no gigabit?
  14. lol? wtf? i think it's wrong that people are allowed to keep a dog the way they did. i'm not saying a pitbull is more dangerous than a chihuahua (although it does bite a bit harder) it's just that the pit is a lot easier to mistrain and tends to end up an aggressive animal a lot easier than other breeds. my grandmother had two german shepherds. tyhe older one was male, the younger and thank god larger one was female. the male was getting old and somewhat screwy in the head, she was contemplating putting him down when the dog jumpoed her, knocking her down. the only thing that saved her life was the female going between her and the male and holding him at bay until she copuld grab a shovel to 'subdue' him.
  15. fiber isn't that expensive and has the great advantage of being immune to and not causing electromagnetic noise. the problem i see is that first of all he's not taking advantage of the fiber by running fast ethernet instead of gigabit, and i read something about converters meaning he doesn't have fiber nic's. with those two upgrades the setup would be really sweet.
  16. in that case, where is classic rock, or did it just get lumped in with metal, punk and probably electro pop too?
  17. without even looking at it i would surmise the group calls with up to 200 people are set up with one person streaming his video out while the rest watch, like for corporate kissy kissy motivational type BS. if it works and it can also stream desktops it's not a bad solution for companies that are spread out and not big enough to warrant the investment into real conferencing software i guess.
  18. right now my taste in music has become pretty mych what my 16 month old likes. and let me tell you, he has a very interesting taste in music. some swing pieces get him rocking out, he likes the stones and ac/dc, village people, lot's of disco, some other classic rock and a few speed metal type songs also seem to do it for him. classical or mood music is not his cup of tea. opera is met with disdain.
  19. why would the ports from the usb riser be any slower than the ones directly on the board?
  20. well, your original values are hexadecimal, 4 bytes each. each byte is represented by a 2 digit hexadecimal value. binary it would be much longer, you would need 8 digits for each byte. that is mainly why the hexadecimal system is used in this context, it can elegantly represent the 256 (dec) possible values the sequence of 8 bits can represent in 2 alphanumeric digits, each with a value of 0 to f. edit I know the 2 above are DWords I was asking about the other tweak Class=1 LocalPriority = 1 HostsPriority = 1 DnsPriority = 1 NetbtPriority = 1 these look like boolean values to me, where they use only a single bit 0 or 1 to signify true or false, in this case off or on.
  21. of course it should have another satas, the question is wether it has an ide to run that drive he wanted.
  22. o use my plan, make a buck. contact me for licensing information.
  23. ok. the red cable would be the serial ata cable and there should also be a power connector. the problem is the circuit city site doesn't say wether or not the comp has a standard ata interface, which is what the drive you picked needs. it should, but i don't know how far out there sony is concerning proprietary system setups. you would need to check your documentation wether or not you have it, or post here what brand/model the mobo is. also, you might want to check other dealers than circuit city for the harddrive. i know that my local costco usually has a nice hdd for sale, at a good price. newegg, tigerdirect etc. also are good places to .look for a deal. things to consider are: do you want a bleeding fsat hdd or is size more important. or both. shop and compare before you buy.
  24. on the linksys site search for your model, they also have the full manual as a pdf iun case you need it. good luck.
  25. good speed, decent pings. no way to tweak the speed of light though. too bad there's no low earth orbit network for sat access. well, there is, iridium, but 15 bucks a minute or so for a 64 k connection. arrgh. btw that's what the cnn and other news blocky videophone thingy uses, they bundle two iridium channels to get 128k to send that glorified webcam crap from anywhere.
