) Your Welcome lorne, Its seems to me that the harder tweaking and repair has been for me the more I learned from the experience,a friend of mine taught me that if it doesn't work the way its supposed to right now to keep tinkering with it.The deal is if its messed up ya cant usually hurt anything.It helped me be more relaxed to try to conquer the problem,after all its only a machine ha ha!!have fun and tweak till your weak^^^ microwave

RTB, ca3le guy has done this type of calculation many times before,I have found that over the long haul(and short) his math and given speeds are way more accurate than the other sites.I also have done a lot of testing all over the net, although my test are much less scientific than ca3le guys, I come up with the same results.So you can rest assured that not only is this the best testing site its the MOST accurate bar none!So I for one certainly appreciate his hard work that he gives freely to us the INTERNET community as I'm sure you do also.I have watched as he goes the extra mile to make his site perfect, if there is one little miscalculation in code or any thing else he works on it until its solved.I wish I knew half of his expertise with java, building a site and maintaining it etc....I guess what I'm saying is I'm glad he took the time and effort to do all this work or else Id have to rely on one of the sites that I know are usually off by more than 10%.Thanks Damon D microwave

RTB, What is under the hood,ya know what ver windows,browser, etc...Also what are you paying for=What does your Cable co. say your guaranteed upload and download speeds are etc~~~mine is 3000/256 for instance!Let us know so maybe some can help. microwave

RTB, Try testing a couple more times and posting. Zone alarm or anything else for that matter can effect testing,sometimes some strange rule is in effect on firewalls etc.I'm not that familiar with zone alarm, but see if there is a way to allow everything for a couple of test to see if anything changes. Of course as you know after testing put firewall back up along with anything else that you may have removed temporarily. microwave

) Bertski I agree the speed you posted as a every day speed would be great,I often forget that even my "slow" speed times are really very good. I sometimes don't remember the s%$t speeds I use to have to live with. Ah those days are gone forever,now I'm waiting for the "new" improvement whatever that may be so I can go twice as fast as now. RTB, Great job as you found out a little tweaking here and there and your speeds change to faster than a speeding bullet (almost).Also as I'm sure you are aware of, as long as you have a GOOD copy of the registry file you can do testing and tweaking to make your machine as fast as possible.When the s*#t hits the fan you can revert back to the original "good" copy of the Reg. To answer your question I have used the tweaks you are talking about, I have found them very useful not only on my machines but on friends and family as well,as a matter of fact I recently formatted my pc and tested with normal settings, after using the optimizer my speed almost doubled. So I'm a believer in using those and other tweaks.As you know as long as you have a good copy of the registry its hard to really hurt anything.I guess its one of those rare deals where you can "turn back the hands of time" so to speak.
