The First Thanksgiving"They spent two months at sea to reach a strange new world, and barely survived once they got there." Voyage On The Mayflower The 1620 voyage from England to America was more than 3,000 miles and beset by autumn storms. Daily Life The Pilgrims arrived in the New World during the winter, making it very difficult for them to find food and build shelter. Already weakened by their two-month voyage, most of the passengers failed to survive the first few months in their new home. Fortunately, native people called Wampanoag, or "eastern peoples," already lived in the Massachusetts Bay area. They shared their knowledge of local crops and navigation with the "coat-men," as they called the English, and helped the colonists survive. (and finally) The Thanksgiving Feast The English colonists we call Pilgrims celebrated days of thanksgiving as part of their religion. But these were days of prayer, not days of feasting. Our national holiday really stems from the feast held in the autumn of 1621 by the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag to celebrate the colony's first successful harvest. http://teacher.scholastic.com/thanksgiving/ So now you have the true story of Thanksgiving. Now is the turkey done yet?? According to wikepedia that is true Roco. Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is an annual one-day holiday to give thanks (traditionally to God) for the things one has at the close of the harvest season. In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, and in Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday in October. In the United Kingdom, Thanksgiving is another name for the Harvest festival, held in churches across the country on a relevant Sunday to mark the end of the local harvest, though it is not thought of as a major event (compared to Christmas or Easter) as it is in other parts of the world. This tradition was taken to North America by early settlers, where it became much more important. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving

Qwest is ripping me off badly. Uncap?
tommie gorman replied to modenaf1's topic in General Discussion
Welcome to the forum modenaf1 Something else forgotten that may make a bigger difference is clening. Tweaking before cleaning is a no no. But read here and make sureit is clean first. Achieve the Best Performance Out of Your Computer http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257 A lot of the time it will make a much bigger difference. Yu might actually find the rest of your hidden speeds. Do this and then post another speed test. :wink2: -
They allowed your taking a video?? That is quite unusual.
-
When I first got here I just wanted my speeds I was paying for. Now I have become a clean fanatic. And it helps. A lot of the things I do daily, are supposed to weekly or monthly items. But for the same part, some of the things I do monthly, are daily things to be done. But water only gets a 95% Big Mac. That is all she said she wanted. I get the other bite.
-
Good speeds coknuck, it looks like you almost have it running almost as good as your bike.
-
Oh I did fell sorry, but not enough to pay her bill.
-
Not all speed tests are the same. Nice speeds though.

Can CCLeaner be set to run automatically after a browser closes?
tommie gorman replied to Sharky2006's topic in General Help
If you were using IE6 the fastest way would just be to clean out your cache. But on Firefox I am not sure. -
Just let me know Roco, it all sounds good.
-
Now that is new story on me. Are you sure. They called YOU??? Man that is a very unusual story indeed . Congratulations. And I have been on here a little over a year now. That was very nice of your ISP indeed. If I were you I would at least e-mail them a X-mas card.

Let's get our minds working for a moment shall we?

You know I am always a taker Roco, but I sleep sometimes. I read part of your link Roco. Back in Missouri and some states we call them isolationist's "Hillbillies". "Further, terms like redneck and cracker, often connote rejection of, or resistance to assimilation into the dominant culture, while hillbillies theoretically are merely isolated from the dominant culture. Nevertheless, the term is sometimes considered derogatory depending on the context in which it is used or the attitude of the target." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillbilly -

Welcome to the forum SidV if I haven't welcomed you yet. Have you tried reading "Achieve the Best Performance Out of Your Computer" http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257 Or tried the TCP Optimizer? It is actually preferred by many on satelite, and faster. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013 Good luck, and no experimental settings needed. -
All I know is I am a regular guy. We wait til X-mas Eve. to shop, unless it is for us.

Alone is exactly what it says. Lonely. With two it would not be near so bad. I know I batched for several years. It royally sucks. But quite livable. Also having lived in the country most of my life by preferance, I might make a fitting mate for ya water. And yeah, I will let you steal the Bear skin at night. Better bring along some decks of cards. And I have satelite so I will bring it along for updating TMN of the daily and nightly events. -
Nice speeds asrabbit91, what your advertised speeds??

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! November testmy.net babies...
tommie gorman replied to tdawnaz's topic in General Discussion
Nah, it is still November. -
Short story. I had a tenant who wanted her furnace relit. I thought nothing of it. Sent my furnace man over to see on a very cold day. He calls me from his cell phone to report she was missing a gas meter. Duh, she had not paid the gas bill and they had pulled it that day. Now I know this has nothing to do with this directly, but I thought it might be humorous and lighten the mood a bit.

Hey swimmer, you know they have to try and tweak. Try telling a brother not to bother his sisters toys. It'll never happen.
-
All I can tell you is call your ISP. I havethe same problems daily. From 300-1800 kbps. everyday. It is normal for Dway. Maybe not for your ISP. For a flot of $$ I would be upset. If they agree it is an ISP problem, there is little we can do til then. Good luck. Post back and let us know how you do, and if there is anything else we can do later.
-
Yeah me too. I might not be typing right now. And that would make me very sad. [kidding]
-
That is close, but you might be able to do better. Try testing with the 2992 file test for the D/L and 579 for the U/L. That is what I use all the time. Gives real accurate speeds. Not the smart test.
-
Wow, almost up to full speed. Are you located very far from Texas USA? If so that may be part of the speed you might not get. Distance slows it down some. Those speeds have really increased for you Hendrik Schipper That is always so good to hear. More than 20 times the increase. Just curious, did you tweak it yet?? If you loose them again, I would try tweaking it.
