  1. Hey! I know this isn't the be-all and end-all but looks like we got a doubling of upload speed here in Phx just recently. Yay! (Certainly paying enough!)
  2. Thanks .s1 for the clarity on that mirror issue. It's not 'cached' in MY temporary files...so, how can it even run if the mirror is defunct?
  3. A '10 card' also references a set of fingerprints...F.Y.I. I had to weigh in on something and no, I've not flown the coop entirely, just got some blazing good download speeds twice from: http://www.testmy.net/o-mirror-s1 (that mirror's server must be on my roof ) And so, 'whoopie' is called for here..just restarted my cox priority account. It's too fast, but I don't see how it can be *wrong*. It's certainly not in line with the average of other sites which are lower. That I do confess.
  4. All y'all going 30/5 and 50/5 as I gear up to gear down...honest. Dare I say I'm going to settle for the 'Lite' version of Cox HSI for awhile if they'll *allow* me to keep paying them money.. I finally got a 'hot/cool' modem that ironed out the connection problems after 2 1/2 years of yuk. "They" musta had a guage on me showing I was getting service I was paying for and have initiated the *Disconnecterator* after 2 weeks of connected bliss...No worries mates. I know what I'm doing. P.S. I'll soon be left in the dust for awhile...but here's the wee hours download of the 47Mb test: Download Connection is:: 13072 Kbps about 13.1 Mbps (tested with 48638 kB) Download Speed is:: 1596 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2007/09/25 - 3:22am Bottom Line:: 228X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 0.64 sec Tested from a 48638 kB file and took 30.48 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 103.68 % faster than the average for host (cox.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-C2PME1QBZ
  5. Note to self: Stay on topic: Download Connection is:: 12661 Kbps about 12.7 Mbps (tested with 48638 kB) Download Speed is:: 1546 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2007/09/15 - 10:36pm Bottom Line:: 221X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 0.66 sec Tested from a 48638 kB file and took 31.47 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 98.45 % faster than the average for host (cox.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-ZQ07EIG1D Not too shabby..
  6. Ya Tim...and 'on topic' too, which I haven't been...but my signature says what can get with 12260 is it? Ya..my best 47Mb has been near 13Mb at most me. I'll go test now...though it's too accurate to be pretty
  7. Thank you Tommie...and all who's luck has been better in that department that have put up with my complaints. I'd Googled my few brains out for so long...and tried every blessed suggestion. The Dlink was a prayer answered
  8. Hey, I want one Tommie! Guess what? I finally, finally, finally..yes, finally have my Cox Cable Internet NOT disconnecting all the time. Reason? after SB5120's and SB5101's...good modems but didn't solve the connection problems...and then a Cox provided Webstar...only kind 'he' had on his truck a month ago...didn't solve the prob. either...I ordered, from the manufacturer a Dlink dcm202. It arrived in 2 days and have not had an unplanned disconnection since...quite unlike lately in this heat where 11 disconnects per 3 hours came to hair-pullingly 'normal'. It'll take awhile to heal from the pain of 2 1/2 years of:"Well it looks ok here" while on the phone or when the roll one to my place...ya will take awhile. I'm not selling Dlinks...but It sure solved MY long-standing problems!! Whew!
  9. This being an 'old' thread...my last comments were in May '07 but today I got a replacement for the not-so-hot Webstar that Cox sold me on their recent visit. Not a bad modem exactly but no help in the connectivity department. So now? :cheesy:I'm over-joyed to say that for Cox (at least here in AZ), the Dlink dcm-202 that arrived today is blowing the doors off all previous modems in terms of *connectivity*. I've had Cox service for about 3 years and after the first 6 months, nothing and no one could help me keep it connected for more than 30 hours at a stretch and usually 1 or 2 hours, maximum. It's very, very nice to be getting Premier service that actually stays connected. I'm a fan of Dlink fan. For each of us, it's a matter of what works, in the final analysis...not trying to sell modems. No increase in speeds but what relief from woe!!!!
  10. Hi Bryan, Maybe Tommie will clarify...in fact I'm sure of it. Nice 'meeting' you. I'm not here much but occasionally lurk a bit. Have a good weekend!
  11. Tommie? Did you grease your modem? WOW!!!
  12. Too, too awesome coolbuster!!! Have you tried the bigger downloads? Like at... http://www.testmy.net/dl-48638 You'll often see lower but more accurate results..I like 'em fast too though!
  13. Just back in the 'hood and wanted to say howdy! Download Connection is:: 14735 Kbps about 14.7 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1799 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/07/20 - 7:21pm Bottom Line:: 257X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 0.57 sec Tested from a 12160 kB file and took 6.76 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 141.87 % faster than the average for host (cox.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-850YDHP2C
  14. No complaints here either...or not enough to worry about. I'm just posting as my signature the 'fresh' dnld results with the 48,638KB file as my new Sig. Hooray for the 'boost'.
  15. I'm very happy with the Speeds I'm getting *now* from Cox 12/1. My Signature below reflects the Large File test of 48,638kB at: http://www.testmy.net/dl-48638 Taken just now...and since it's almost 10pm so, that's pretty good for NOT in the middle of the night with that large a file. Try it!
  16. Okee dokee granpa...maybe a bit of surgical tape'll do the trick...
  17. It is nice Tommie...and at least I don't have to hold the cable modem in hand as granpa has to with his satellite dish I should just be 'don't worry, be happy' with that but I do 'worry' because my frequent disconnection/reconnections occur way too often. Still...could be worse. At least I can get stuff done fast enough that the disconnects are the *only* inconvenience.
  18. asulekh? India may be a poor country, as you say but 'where is my ISP?' is a good question. Perhaps on Mars? Just kidding. Talk to them...that can't be right, can it? Sometimes one has to just keep nagging them to help you and to 'google' of course on anything you may think of that's related Best Luck!
  19. Hey granpa! I thought I'd check in with you since I don't *know* very many in TMN...good to see you're still keeping up the good work and posting...hahahaha re "Hand held dish" I'm blowing my own doors off here with Cox 12/1 and 'Boost' in Arizona...you don't even want to know. But I've missed coming in due to having a relative staying here since Feb. 7th..Odd how we know exactly when they arrived, eh? So, she's settled in her own place now...mostly and I can dink around on the computer more. Glad to be back and nice to 'see' you too.
  20. I'm in Scottsdale, Arizona and I've been happy with the 12/1 Premier from Cox lately...*especially* with the 'Boost' but have had connectivity issues off/on for quite awhile. FINALLY decided to install a directional coupler instead of a splitter at the wall where cable comes into my place...NICE! Here's my test just now with 48,638kB download. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 12928 Kbps about 12.9 Mbps (tested with 48638 kB) Download Speed is:: 1578 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/06/05 - 10:23pm Bottom Line:: 225X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 0.65 sec Tested from a 48638 kB file and took 30.82 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 122.25 % faster than the average for host (cox.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-LBNF3ZDQ7 User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90) [!] My SB5120 signal log looks very good too, though it never was 'bad' I'm hoping I'll see many fewer (as in 'none') modem restarts now. My downstream power level was running -4 and -5 which should have been ok, but 0 is better, though some debate that . SNR hasn't changed. Upstream has though, from regularly 40 to 49 now at 39 and steady. Maybe that'll help keep me connected. Downstream Value Frequency 579000000 Hz Signal to Noise Ratio 36 dB QAM QAM256 Network Access Control Object ON Power Level 0 dBmV The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading Upstream Value Channel ID 2 Frequency 22800000 Hz Ranging Service ID 2289 Symbol Rate 2.560 Msym/s Power Level 39 dBmV Not too shabby for the big download. P.S. The directional coupler rather than a splitter has done squat for my Upload stats But I'm lovin' that download!!! and...dare I include a good link to that item? http://www.accessorywarehouse.com/shop/customer/search.php?substring=directional+coupler P.P.S. For all y'all with and without 'Boost' our friends at SpeedGuide have cloned some info from here, there and everywhere for this help for all cable modem users: http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?t=198915
  21. My signature shows my best download here on TMN. I Pay for 12/1 with Cox Premier at $64.12 including inside-service mthly amount.
  22. Keetan, I'm just happy to see your list of specs following your invitation to IM you...I'm going to assume you *have* the best modem already and it's showing I needed to know myself, like right now because I took delivery on a new SB5120 today to replace my first SB5120 as it's been a good one...and I've had it awhile...no issues except off/on connectivity...which may just be hot weather here in the deser. But with the new modem, I don't know whether it was firmware obsolescence or what... my Cox 12/1 died down to 1/1 on most speed tests, including here at TMN. That'll never do! Some few were fine, which in a way is even more puzzling. Some of you may look at the firmware numbers and say 'aha!' but I won't bother you with that...it could take awhile before Cox pushes me a newer firmware that fixes the problem...and so, I just had the 1st modem reprovisioned and I'm back to square one...researching modems. As to 'perfect connectivity'. I don't know if it's possible but I'll thiMk hard about the DLink. (While I pack up the new dud and return it to NewEgg) Thanks P.S. All speed tests are back to normal...doubt just all the switching will fix the connectivity probs...but hope springs eternal, eh?
