  1. Got rid of Hughes...

For years it was the same game: launch a new satellite up, overload it then lie to paying customers about performance issues. Hughes seems to hope that most people wont ever figure out they arent getting what they pay for....not to mention hope they dont understand data caps. Takes quite an effort to even get past the script readers for a key player in getting problems fixed.

What a relief dont have that hassle any longer.

Verizon 4G unlimited plan for me.

  2. I have noticed the test on this site showing very high scores on download for me, when in fact my speeds are very slow lately with HughesNet as well as very sluggish web browsing. Im not really surprised as this seems to be the trend with Hughes.....sell all you can get, worry later about providing the service? Last evening HughesNet tech support told me to turn off anti virus and disable firewall.....well today we will just file another BBB claim, simple enough.

  3. I have an unlimited Verizon Wireless 3g data plan for my phone, read somewhere that even though the unlimited data plans are grand-fathered speeds will be throttled after 5Gb of data. I only ever went past the 5Gb once.....myself did not see any reduction of speed. Does anyone know how this works?

  4. I have went over my allowed 24 hour data usage with Hughesnet:

    Bamm.....FAPed

  6. angry.gif I for the 1st time can say, Wild Blue your system sucks for sure. I've been with them for some 4 years, maybe getting my posted speeds of 1meg knuppel2.gif 6% of this entire time. Well I'm done with you and your shit. icon_smile.gif I now have 3G service and its nice to run at 3meg 95% of the time..... smitten.gif Thank you ATT for 3G

You mean the scientist couldn't convince you not to use your system only in the wee hours or that your system was installed incorrectly but worked in the early am hours. :2funny:

  7. What package are you on also. At one time they had a package that was 500/50. So it depends on that also. And that would be right in line. :smile2:

If your on the newer Ka band HN9000 modem....you should not be seeing that much slowdown as the lowest plan is 1000/128k

mine is the 1600/250......working fine, however show me dsl and the sat is gone for sure.

  8. It seems Hughes has again tweaked the service.....no more elite plan speeds. The FAP meter is now working again as well as a new reset time. The new reset time for me is around midnight, prior to the screw up the counter reset at 2:30pm.

  9. Yes, I did experience some down time on Saturday 4-3-10...... when I called in the idiots credited me $79 and schelduled a tech to come replace my transmitter. (Hughes assured me bad radio and possible dish alignment problem) A few hours later all was running fine, but did not notice the speed increase until today. Still getting great speeds, hope it last.

  10. It seems Hughes is getting more generous with the bandwidth?

  11. you right thats what the topic is. and you posted on topic?  uh no.

So now your going to tell me what I shouldn't be posting about? wow.

like the general said, what planet do you call home?

why you should call WildBlue for help?

    1) you never get your upload plan speed of 256k

    2) your downloads reveal speeds of only 13% of your 1500 plan speeds...... 200k (download)

and your tech support for how many years at what web site? once again wow!

I'm 99% certain your a scientist in disguise.

It apperars you are going with plan B and pretend there is no problems with WB?  It would be easier to hide your speed issues if you didnt do upload test and dont test in the peak evening hours? just a thought.

speed test from marsh_0x  1500/256k WildBlue

  12. Once again your complaing how bad Hughes was.....(which 117w satmex5 was one of the worst)  you seem to fail to realize your current speed....your on a plan 1500/256k ?  and have yet to show a test result of  even 200k up and reveal consistent downloads of  a mere 13% of your paid for download speed.  Speed test results here

I somehow keep forgetting just exactly how this works:

Hughes provides slow speeds it called fraud....but when WildBlue provide screaming speeds (13% of plan speeds) its called superior?  :tard:

I would again suggest you talk to the WB almighty customer service and just see what happens...... this ought to be good. or plan b just pretend all is well

  13. Answer is only because my desktop icon linked me to check download only as I care less for upload, now the icon is changed to -> Dual Bandwidth Speed Test <-, remember I am new, and do thank you all for the warm welcome and only have a few weeks of knowing I could have become a member and log all my scores for future proof, live and learn.

My motto ~ a day without learning was a wasted day ~

My 8 years with Hughes tests, confirming with Speak Easy has always shown me little difference with upload speeds, from memory only and a possibility still exists to log in to Hughes speed tests and able to copy paste my past logs stored online ?

I'm still tempted and probably will within 72 hours start/authorize on a monthly only bases, existing Hughes 7000s and parabolic dish 117w bird, wiring has remained (with a new frequency assignment only) not the over crowded 1050MHz H) Hughes worthless service I had for $84 to prove a point based on your TMS for simple proof my bad downs, then again time frames (years) because there were the good times.

Oh a side by side comparison would have been so precious.

I live in northern Wisconsin mid way between Tomahawk and Rhinelander in the deep country, but Version exchange (453) wouldn't allow a "foreign exchange" (283) exchange in addition to both phone lines, that my neighbor has been grandfathered in for many years.

My question to you, why have you allowed that unacceptable speed to continue ?

What efforts have you done to correct it ?

    Marsh

again if you want to test side by side test the Hughes Ka band spaceway3.....not the old Ku system? thats like comparing the pro plan to the select? or a wood bat to a composite bat? WildBlue is a Ka band so one might think to test the same service, same plan?

  14. marsh_0x, frankster has a long history baiting people using Wildblue.  Just about every post he makes on the Wildblue boards is "post speeds", "Hughesnet is better".  That's trollish behavior. He has been blocked numerous times on Wildblueworld.com for doing the exact same thing.  So, no it was not uncalled for.

    Thank you.

and some more rocket science wondering why its

getting worse and wont be surprised if there is no connectivity
    .....by Micwa1  :tard:

guess that grass wasn't so green after all?

  15. Now I'm starting to understand better, you have issues with WB and a now happy Hughes customer for some unknown reason.

    Wait until tomorrow haha

Followed behind is generallee, what a brother/sister/cousin/wanna B that hasn't come over to the bright side to Hughes, for what reason ?

No company will allow your posted speeds.

Good grief my log ins could easily prove NO difference in upload speeds, regardless of the times, granted download will vary with traffic, exactly as does with cable.

    Not even worth the effort.

    share2-NO2JGFESR&dual=yes&q2=S6FYHNB3V

    Marsh

you have done only 3 upload test logged in and none of the 3 are 256k upload.......so the scientist will right away say this is a bad aim? your many downloads do prove obviously you are among the many others not getting what you pay for with a 1500/256k plan......seeing downloads @ under 200/300k ? Its funny you forgot to post the scores at 200k? or even mention it?

    I dont follow this logic:

Hughes slow speeds= trash, oversold, terrible, the worst.

Wildblue slow speeds= clouds, rain, bad aim, snow, time of day, test site, server, router, tria, cables, traffic, holiday, school kids, and the list of excuses goes on.  :2funny:

    http://www.testmy.net/tools/database/db_search.php?s=60&q=marsh_0x&type=user&framed=&limit=30&sort=&d

It seems the writing is on the wall.... and I hate to hear about people having to spend $95 on service calls for nothing. Read about all the time.

That upload test should look something like this or better

  16. The scientist claim the upload beams do not get congested:  :bs:

good dish alignment indicate the upload beam does not get congested, even during peak hours.

Our download beams will get congested, and speeds will vary with time of day, but not the upload beams or the upload speeds.....

Can anyone with a "good dish alignment" using WB post consistent uploads speeds all hours of the day?

    (early morning, mid-day and evening)

  17. I agree that ka band is much more tolerant of rain than ku band, but a heavy rain will knock it right out. I lose the signal on my Directv at the same time as the Wildblue signal goes down.

I have gone below 80% of the advertised speed the few times I have been on in the evening, but over all I am at or above the advertised down load speed.

I haven't tested the up load speed that often, but I don't remember ever getting the 256 that is advertised. I am happy if I can upload at 20kps consistently.

Most of my neighbors have switched to Wildblue from Hughes and most of us are very happy when we compare our present service with what we had before.

Before Hughes I had Starband, which used a phone line to upload and a large dish to download. The highest download(log on) speed was 250kps and up load was 28kps(log on) or 3-5 kps actual speed.

Satellite is the worst way to get the Internet, except dial up. The monthly fees are expensive for what you get, the installation is expensive and the technology is fickle at best. But, there aren't many other options and the other other available options have their drawbacks as well.

The FAP policy of Wildblue is also much better than Hughes.

Obviously your not aware of Hughes current FAP policy (free tiime 2-7am, tokens) etc... and since WB is so much better than Hughes....the same plan should show better speeds up and down? Not that I never had problems with Hughes, but current day side by side:

Its raining here pretty good, lots of heavy cloud cover and windy: still good with Hughes Ka band

ITs now around 4pm est.....lets see what WB results are.

  18. My own experience with the Ka band is that the weather has much less impact on performance? At any rate please test as often as you can all hours of the day to see the true speeds. The true equipment test would be to run several test anywhere between 3-6am then compare with the evening results. When I was looking to switch WB told me could expect to see no less than 80% of plan speeds? so a 1500/256k plan should expect to see 1200/200k or very close.

  19. ummmmm no upload I guess?

I think if the upload and download test were run morning and evening.....the capacity issue would be easily seen.

The scientist say the uploads do not slow during peak hours, but yet its rare to see 1500/256k plan get the said 80% consistently, especially during the evening hours.

  20. My experience with Wildblue is completely different.

I pay for 1500KPS log on and nearly always log on at 1700kps at testmy.

It does slow down at peak times, right now I at 1200kps.

I have had wildblue now for year. Before that I had Hughes for 5 years. The last year with Hughes I rarely got dialup speeds, and i could not get past the tech support in India.

Other than having to reboot the modem once a month or so, I am happy with Wildblue.

I also like the fact that Wildblue has their own forum, where you can ask questions of Wildblue and get answers from their techs quickly.

I wish you good luck, you will need it.

Could you please log in while speed testing.......?  Myself am seriously amused at the WBworld forum answers to customers speed problems.
