  1. What you are experiancing is normal operation. Both devices are set up in such a way to do an identical job and basically shutting each other out. What you should be able to do is go in to the new on and turn off "DHCP" at least. In this way the new one is no longer trying to give out "IP Addresses". There might be a couple other things that need to be done but in this way you might be able to get the new one to act somewhat as an amplifier/extender.
  2. It seems that there is a lot of people that voted for him that are seeing the true color's. Unfortunately anyone that was sided with Bush or Clinton would have lost the race. To win all a person would have had to do is to be anti-Bush and anti-Clinton too win, and that is exactly how his campaign was run. Now they are seeing our puppet government in action.
  3. Goto to the HP website and download the manual for that particular manual. It will tell you haw to access the recovery partition. With this you should then be able to access the "Recovery Console". Not sure if that will allow you to reset the password or not. While there you also have the option of doing a full recovery of the computer. Not sure if an install option with out destroying the current OS is available. Worst case scenario you will be able to do a full recovery of the PC and teach the punk a lesson for forgetting his password.
  4. Living in a small section of town because of not being able to pick up the local language is fully understandable. Congradulations to your forefather's for bringing the family to America. My dad's sid of the family came to America through Canada into PA then Ohio. My mom's side came from Germany, Ireland and some from North America itself as in Native American.
  5. I know you are waiting for it tommie and I will post the link but first I must say that this letter does say a lot that is true. I do agree with it just like the video posted earlier. As mentioned in the link I'll post at the end don't forget there was still a lot of people in the past that did not adopt the USA as wholeheartedly as the letter portrays. This is why we had "Little Germany" or "China Town". There were many others. In this way these groups did not have to change as quickly if at all. During WWI and WWII it is very true that the immigrant children did join up and defend the US against the home countries of their parents. This link is different in my past links in that it is for additional information. Snopes calls it a "mixture" in that it has "true" and possible "false" information. They really did not point out anything "false" just elaborated more in that not all immigrants in the past hugged the US as the letter above portrays. But in my opinion, as I'm sure others may agree, the immigrants of today are more reluctant to stand up for the US as in the past. As an off the wall example if the US were to suddenly go into a full out war against Mexico, not only would we be fighting at the border but in every town and city in the US. Nearly every "Mexican" would either high tail back to Mexico to fight or would just pick a fight on our soil. Nothing against Mexico or the Mexican people just a quick example and the high influx in illegal (undocumented) Mexican's in the US. Without further ado the link for additional reading, not to be against the posted letter. http://www.snopes.com/politics/immigration/newimmigrants.asp
  6. I have had that on my IPOD for the past year. Great song and video. Saw a bumper sticker the other day that read "Welcome to America, Speak English or Go Home".
  7. Thought about it a few months a go. Did a search on line and similar to what was mentioned above, the only people I could find that had anything good to say were the ones selling the crap. There are many complaints about it working for a short while then quitting. Tech support was pretty much non-existent. Some customers wound up buying a couple different ones all with the same problem.
  8. Too me having Patriotism is having "pride" in one's country. I'm also a believe in that one of the reason's for the lack of Patriotism these days is because of all the political groups that should not be interfering. As an example, all these different "Human Rights" groups out there. They cry about someone or a group of people being mistreated and we, the USA who else lately, goes in to take care of the problem and now we are the bad guys. When it comes to this war as another example, I do not care if you agree with congress or the president or not. Support the troop that it is on the ground. That is Patriotism to me. After all if it was not for the ground pounder we half the country could be speaking Japanese and the other half could be speaking German today. Not saying either country is bad but the USA would not be the way it is today good or bad. The you get all these legal and illegal immigrants that could care less about the country that they entered as long as they get the American money to send back home. That statement is to include some of these sports stars we have here that high tail back home after each season. I'm sorry, I can not approve of it. Take all the millions that you are being paid and run. Yeah they may spend some here during the season but most of it is being spent somewhere else. In short I have got to disagree, Patriotism has nothing to do with business. Yes a country has to be run like a business but they are two seperate things. If you are not proud of the country you are a citizen of or where you live by choice you do not deserve to call either home. There is nothing wrong with being Patriotic to two countries. No matter what country it is. Also ever notice that most that "cry" against Patriotism have never been in the military. Not saying that is the case here. tommie gorman and I do bump heads as can be seen in a few of the above post's, but I do believe we both agree when it come to Patriotism itself.
  9. Never said they did not do anything admirable. Just pointing out that Lee Marvin and Bob Keeshan were never at Iwo Jima together and that Mr. Rogers was never in the military. All three did great things for our country, unlike a lot of the Hollywood stars of today. You couldn't get most of them to do a 2-4 year stint in the military if their lives depended on it.
  10. From Snopes on Captain Kangaroo and Lee Marvin: http://www.snopes.com/military/celebrities/leemarvin.asp Fred Rogers, Mr Rogers Neighborhood , never served in the military: http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/mrrogers.asp
  11. So it may not be Firefox causing the problem after all? I have Firefox on my Mac and windows partition of the Mac. Have not had any problems on either.
  12. Sounds like fun. I have two Linksys router both running DHCP off the same cable modem. The line come in from the cable modem to the first Linksys. This one provides internet both wireless and cabled to the computers, Xbox360, and DVD player. Ther is also a cable going from this to the second Linksys to provide wireless to the cell phones. Both router provide different IP address's. So in essence two seperate networks. The reason for the second wireless is it has propirety firmware from T-Mobile that seems to allow the phones to work better. I also forgot, I also have a Linksys wireless bridge connecting a printer and another computer through a Linksys workgroup switch. I can connect to either wireless router and get full internet access. So it is possible to have more than one router on the network. It can take a little work. In you case the router that does not provide DHCP is acting like a workgroup switch.
  13. I came across this one, not sure if it is the same as above. I put a link to the page that I got this info from. Buckeye Email Email Settings for Buckeye Customers Set up your email software If you are presently using Buckeye Express (cable modem) or Buckeye Access (dial-up) for your Internet Service Provider and you use email software such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Office Outlook or MacMail, you will have to make a change in how your email program sends messages and how it receives messages. First, a little explanation - Email programs use two mail servers to process mail. One is the POP3 (incoming) server and the other is the SMTP (Outgoing) server. The SMTP is the outgoing mail server through which you send your outgoing mail. Since you are connected to Buckeye's network, they know that you are a valid subscriber and allow your outgoing email to be relayed to the destination. The POP3 Server is the incoming mail server used to collect your domain email until you open your email program and download the incoming mail messages. SEV.org email users will continue to use mail.sev.org as their server. However, the login username that Outlook, Outlook Express, MacMail and other mail clients use must be in the form of [email protected], rather than just the username alone. This will have to be changed in your client. The mail server at AMBT requires this, where the server at Buckeye did not. In short, your POP3 (incoming) mail server will stay mail.sev.org, while your SMTP (outgoing) mail server needs to be changed to a mail server on Buckeye's network. Typically this SMTP (outgoing) mail server is mail.bex.net. Note. Buckeye recently mailed you a new email address so that you can have email service after we move our sev.org mail server to American Broadband. If Buckeye gave you an address other than a bex.net address, such as buckeye-access.com, you will have to substitute the different domain. For Example, mail.buckeye-access.com would be used for the outgoing mail server, rather than mail.bex.net that is used in the examples. Below are instructions for popular email clients. http://www.sev.org/Email/Buckeye.htm
  14. I like OVguide myslef. Joost I believe you need to download their player. I'm not sure about Hulu though. i don't think you do. With OVguide sometimes you can find stuff that has not been put on DVD yet. http://www.ovguide.com/

    weird

The big differance with the speeds could be distance from the server you are testing from. What OS are you using? XP and 2000 can usually be tweaked by Cablenut easily. Vista does not work. At least not for me it did not. Vista usually does fairly well on it's own to keep the speeds up. Linux and Mac I do not know if the OS can be tweaked for better speeds.
  16. True quit true for the most part. I will not say that it is 100%. I do agree. As a big point to go along with what you mentioned. Racism. I do not believe that we are born racist. Watch very young kids as an example. They do not care, for the most, what gender or nationality you are. They just want to play. A they get older, depending on their upbringing, they may shy away from different nationalities. It's a lot to do with the teachings of the parents. These days the parent is relying on the school system to teach what should be taught at home such as manners and respect of others.
  17. Possible, very possible. Yes our history, and other countries, is full of censorship that we are not aware of. They only way to really know is to have been there yourself. Not saying people lie about things but they may exagerate or mistakenly omit facts here and there.
  18. Snopes does have links to a lot of the inaccuracies on their page. You are correct in that we only have the written word on a lot of this stuff now. But when the original author, not Tommie, can't get some of the names and date right? This is what skews all history. Snopes is has a very good team of researchers to check the acccuracy of their articles. I'm also in agreement that what the signers of the Declaration of Independance broke many laws that would getthem death for what they did. No disagreement there. I also feel that we need more article similar to this to wake people up. As another example during WWI and WWII we had a lot of actors from Hollywood joining the military to go to war for our country. Were are they now? They speak against our military for being in this war when most of them don't want to be there either. But they do it because they volunteered to defend this country from terrorist's both foreign and domestic. Alot of them are also adopting foreign born children. What not enough orphans here to adopt? Or they build schools in foreign countries. Lord knows we can use more schools here. Or what about some these exotic getaways the rich are able to take vacation/weekends to. They want me to help rebuild places that I will never get a chance to see. I understand there are people in the world that need help but when are we as a nation or individual's going to start taking care of #1 first. We as a nation need to get back on our feet before worrying about other countries that will never payback or help us in our natural disasters. I'm a Patriot, I stand for the USA. Yes our government seems to only take care of their own.(Rich) I have put my life on the line for this country and would do it again if need be. I apologize for getting off on a tangent there. I'll step down and back. One other quick note, as mentioned articles like this and many others I have seen here and on other sites are great eye openers. Some do need better research to get the facts right and many others are so far off base that it is not funny. This last one was not that far off in all reality. I'm done and again I apologize for going slightly askew.
  19. This is not entirely true according to Snopes. http://www.snopes.com/history/american/pricepaid.asp Must read the whole thing to find the many inaccuracies. Such as the following: # John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year, he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. A few weeks later, he died from exhaustion and a broken heart. John Hart's New Jersey farm was looted in the course of the Revolutionary War, and he did have to remain in hiding for a while afterwards. However, the claim that he was "driven from his [dying] wife's bedside" as his "13 children fled for his lives" is dramatic fiction. The British overran the area of New Jersey where he resided in late November of 1776, but his wife had already died on 8 October, and most of their children were adults by then. He also did not die "from exhaustion and a broken heart" a mere "few weeks" after emerging from hiding
  20. Just removed my account just in case. It was nice to be able to download software to try before buying it.
  21. Just wanted to chime in again at least one more time. First I wanted to thank you for the all the advise. Went ahead and installed XP in Boot Camp to get full functionality for some propierity software for work. It was very straight forward and XP is working beautifully, though I think I'm going to stay on the Mac side for the experience. I have checked the other links you pointed me towards, and I think the local CUPS will come in handy. Again thanks. Take care fellow Buckeye.
  22. Have not tried that yet. I've got to agree are the statement about people not using something and complaining about it. Another statement that makes a lot of sense that I came across is along the lines of, it does not matter the OS as long as the Applications you are using get the job done for you. In the past the I never really considered a Mac good for the home or typical business. Mainly because of the lack of software being easily available. Could not walk into the local department store to get any. But it was great for graphics and such. Now it is a good home/personal computer for anyone tired of windows. Admittedly I like windows but admit it does have problems. This Mac has the same specs as my old Vista laptop and it so much faster and smoother. I'm still not a convert yet but it is getting close. I'll be checking both the Vmware and the local print server out as I get used to the Mac. Had to get Parallals working because I told the boss I needed to install windows. So since it was paid for I'll use it for awhile as I work with Vmware to see which I like better.
  23. Was wondering what happened when I went to the other thread. Any way, Firefox in general, I just could not get to like in Windows. Just kept having to go back to IE7/8. Don't know what it was. Now in Mac firefox just seems to be smoother and quicker. I think that was the problem in windows. Even with the hacks to speed up Firefox it still just seemed to lag as speed went. That or because Safari does not work for one of my sites I'm or less forced to use Firefox. I like. I did manage to get XP running in Parallels last night. When it came up after install it was a little confusing/alarming. I'm sitting there looking at my Mac desktop, XP task bar along the bottom and the Mac finder across the top. Thought something was wrong at first. Dropped the mouse to the bottom and the Mac dock appears, had it set to auto hide. Internet in XP worked perfectly, was able to move files and drives freely between XP virtual and Mac. Have not tried USB thumb drives or SD/CF cards yet. Hopefully they will work as I need those for work stuff. Overall I would say that I can now do 99% of my work with out having to touch a strictly windows PC of any kind. The world that we live in is a Microsoft world. Yes there is ways around Microsoft software, some works better others not so well but sooner or later there will be a compromise. I do like this laptop/Mac and even with a few minor freezes it has been a fawless transition. For people that are in the same business as myself, copier repair connectivity, I would say to get a Mac if you can afford it. In the past to print from a Mac you had to have a Post Script printer a transfer the file to windows or Linux. Now it is possible to print to nearly any HP compatible printer. Also it was difficult to scan to a Mac from a MFD unless you went with Scan to e-mail or FTP some place. Now it is possible to scan directly to a Mac through SMB scanning. I support KonicaMinolta and Savin/Ricoh copiers. So if their or other techs out there with questions let know. If I cannot answer them I can point you to a forum that is specific to that subject, off list of course. Again Mac's have come a long way and I liking this one more and more. Now if they can just get cheaper for a new one.
