The Case of the Mysterious Broken Attachments....[/html] lol, this is just a notice that I FINALLY got the broken attachments fixed. They gave me a headache but are now completely restored. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you, especially to those of you who's avatars were effected. If you see ANY attachments that are bad please forward me the link and I'll look into it. But from the queries I've done I looks like every attachment (including the avatars that were missing) have been restored. - ty - D

PBR? (pabst blue ribbon) PBR isn't bad... I just can't stand the ice beers or malt liquor....ewwww, any beer that uses simple sugars to increase the content or speed up brewing is just bad news

haha, yep As long as you both pass my authentication procedure then you'd both win.

Actually yes, this is available for everyone.

Yeah, definitely 'really' for a much larger office than my own, lol. But wow, I couldn't turn down such a killer deal. So far I've only printed on some paper I had lying around (like 85 whiteness crap). I gave my (really nice) cannon bubble jet to my older sister because I hardly ever used it. I used it so little that the ink got messed up from sitting so long... but with a toner system I'll have no problem. And with the speed of printing I'll be using it much more often. For some reason it says 8ppm color and BW. But trust me it's WAY faster, 8PPM is a WAAAAY understatement and doesn't make any sense. Maybe mine is all turbo'd out or something, haha. Also, it says it's only 600DPI... which... eh, I can believe. Although the print quality looks really good (especially for how quick stuff is printed) it's not what I would call a photo printer by todays standard. But that's what you get with a color laser printer, I just checked and all the way up to $2000 is still only 600DPI (by spending much more you just get a higher duty cycle and maybe a little faster printing in some cases). The duty cycle is like 35,000 pages/month, to put that in perspective compared to inkjet a high end ($600) hp inkjet says "Recommended monthly volume: Up to 1000 pages". Now I will never print even 500 pages per month myself... but it's good to know that the printer is at such a gauge that I could do 70X what I could imagine ever doing... nice to have something that sturdy (even expensive ink printers I've owned don't seem to last very long). Back to quality, as I said, I've only printed on reeeeally crappy paper. As soon as I get some nicer paper if you'd like I can mail you a print out so you can see what it looks like.... it's really all about the paper. . -D

I got a killer deal on this http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF05a/18972-236251-236268-15077-f51-446153.html It's an HP Color LaserJet 2600n, I couldn't let the deal pass by. could you believe I got it for only $170! That's like the price of a InkJet, lol. Not only did I get a deal, but it was also 100% brand new, in the box and everything. He said "$200" and I said "eh, I'll give you $170" and he took it Now for the bad news.... I looked up the price for replacement cartridges and they are like $70 each and it takes 4. -- but the toner cartridges are huge so I'm sure they'll last me a long time. For anyone who is thinking about getting a color laser this is a really cool printer. I have mine setup in a spare bedroom hooked up to the LAN. The printer has an http server built in and you can log into it (like a router) and change like a million settings, it also shows each cartridges ink left down to 1% increments (which is very accurate.. see the screenshot below). I highly reccomend this printer, even at full price. I've seen refurb versions of this for under $300. This also prints very high quality and REALLY fast.... a full page of color is almost instant. ... it's just going to suck when it comes time to get toner, haha. -D

wow, cool..... this isn't my fastest score... but it's my fastest score on the wireless on my laptop. I surprised that I was able to max out my connection, usually wireless runs quite a bit slower than the wired..... at least that's what I see everyone else having. -- I guess i just get a nice clean connection in my house, I guess having my router mounted at ceiling height makes the difference (I have a data closet at my house and the top shelf is about 10 inches from touching the ceiling. I was recently in California at a friends house for a couple of weeks and he had his router (same router I have) litterally on the floor. My connection dropped all the time and it was constantly having problems, pings were all over the place (they were like 52ms, 38ms, 460ms, 190ms, 39ms, 380ms -- it was crazy). So, if you have a wireless router I highly reccomend installing it as high up as you can. In fact, it's not a bad idea to mount it litterally to the ceiling. I've seen this done at some businesses (again.. with my same router.. lol). it really makes a difference. - just a heads up -D

flash drives... flash drives... two free flash drives. Maybe YOU will win one of them and if you win one of them then that means your friend won the other one! testmy.net is... as always... growing! This is a notice for our soon-to-be member number 40K. Our 40,000th member will be given a 1GB flash drive (name brand... most likely Corsair, PQI or PNY). Also, the member referring member number 40k will also be given a flash drive... keep reading for rules. There are multiple methods for calculating who is member number 40K. The method that will be accepted will be announced on the winning day to further protect against fraud. (the method that will be used has already been chosen). Current members are NOT allowed to sign up new accounts to claim the prize. (keep reading... referring friends will get you a flash drive also) In the event that the winner of the prize does not wish to give out his/her home address to claim the prize the prize will be given to the next sign-up... this will continue up the line until someone claims the prize. If the member was referred by one of our current members who is active and in good standing that person will also get a 1GB flash drive. Any found attempt to fraudulently win will result in a ban and forfeit of prize(s). Member 40K MUST be signed up on or before December 1st 2006, if member 40K signs up after that date no prize will be given because the contest will be over. In the event that member number 40,000 happens to have NOT been referred by anyone any members who attempt to contact this member with something along the lines of "hey, tell them that I referred you..." will be banned without warning no matter who you are. If you are caught making ANY fraudulent accounts those accounts will be deleted... along with your main account (the main point is... don't try to scam the system. there are many things that will referenced and checked before a winner will be announced) Now... The Catch! We are on target for some time in mid-December. But the contest ends December 1st. Q: So how does this work? A: Tell your friends! By referring your friends it will push the sign-ups forward and make a win possible. If enough of you tell enough of your friends then we will easily be able to hit the target date. It won't take much to hit the target date, but the date has been chosen to make sure that it won't happen without participation from our members. So start referring (and make sure you keep track of who you refer, you never know something may be announced later regarding the top referring members). Good luck! So, tell your friends about testmy.net and help us celebrate our 40,000th signup and a close to a great 2006. You and one of the friends you refer could each be getting a 1GB flash drive in your stocking this year. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! * rules are subject to change Contest Rules Two 1GB name brand flash drives... up for grabs

Definitely lift with your diet plan. Adding muscle will actually help you burn fat. More muscle = more calories burnt every day (JUST by having that muscle)... it will also help your metabolism, and will overall just make you feel better. --- but keep in mind that if you're lifting you may see a slower actual lbs loss because you'll be adding muscle weight as your losing fat weight and as I'm sure everyone knows... muscle > fat --- you won't lose as much weight at first but you'll sure look tough as a mofo I'm just going off what my sister always says. My little sister is like obsessed with diets and stuff like that (even though she doesn't need to be, she looks like a super model, I guess maybe that means that she knows what shes doing, lol). She's always dating personal trainers, dietions and body builders so she gets her info from sources that know

doh, after the server format (as you all have noticed) there are kinks to be worked out... especially by a large website ran by one person... One of those kinks was the email notifications, I've corrected the problem and notifications are being sent out. thanks to those who let me know about the issue -D

I run redhat enterprise 3 --- lol, XP.. bah ha ha, that shit would crash every 15 hours. I get like 1000 or more password hacks a day (through SSH) but luckily I've never been root hacked. I run SSH on a non-standard port so that's helped with that a bunch... but some still get through, I suppose some of them just scan the ports.... most just turn and run when they notice it's not on port 22... bruteforce rarely works anyways, and those odds get cut WAY in my favor when you take into the account the complexity of the passwords I use for everything. They all would take so long to bruteforce that it's not even funny (I use uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols and long passwords that have no meaning what-so-ever...) bruteforce is the least of my worries. alright.. I'm tired, I'm going to watch the new South Park now.. lol. -D -

yeah, hackers fuckin suck balls... they can all rot in hell. It's like I have to update all of the 1000's of things running on my server every two weeks to make sure I don't have some new exploit (like a php exploit mySQL loophole that the hackers found out about). I do have scripts that run every night that auto update allot of really important stuff but still... /sigh -- everything seems to be running great right now, and the server load is at an awesome low after finding out a single setting in httpd.conf that makes all the difference. But god, running a servers that get as much traffic as mine do and I'm sure yours does is a huge headache sometimes. But for some reason I will have like 6 months of no problems and RIGHT when I go on a vacation or something BAM! hackers start invading my shit... and then I spend my vacation sweeping up the mess. I'll be keeping an eye on everything and when I get back to phoenix (most likely) I'll get any details worked out, I suppose I'll cut my vacation extra short... I can do everything remotely but working on this laptop stresses me out, I just miss my comfy office setup -- really needed when you have to work for hours on end, laptops are nice and all but damn my back hurts, lol. -D -

I'm looking into this... I was out camping... but luckly I'm in cell range to hear of the problems either that means that I camp in lame places or cell providers are getting kick ass At any rate, I just had the server rebooted and am now looking into why we had problems, I just reloaded the whole OS on the server and have been working on getting kinks out (the way that this site is setup it takes a specialized server setup). -
As some of you know the server was re-formatted and the site was completely reloaded on the server. After this some of our users attachments and avatars are no longer working. This is just a notice that you may need to re-upload your avatar (or attachments in some of your posts if you have an attachment in a post that you think is important for other members to be able to get and you are unable to edit your post then please contact me or one of our mods/admins so that we can re-upload it for you) Sorry for the inconvenience... and thank you for your patience and partonage during these rough times. -D

I'm currently in California and on shitty comcast (6mbps/512kbps) but I did remote connection to my house in Phoenix and got the following score :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 12143 Kbps about 12.14 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1482 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 1123 Kbps about 1.12 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 137 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/10/07 - 11:35pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-3UZV980OR U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-DF91BI86A User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) [!] damn my connection ROCKS!

It seems like part of the attachments directory wasn't copied in my backup.... but I have a copy on my computer at my house. I'm having my mom go to my house in a little bit and setup my remote desktop (because I'm in California) and I'll upload the rest of the attachments... so hang tight. -D

attachments that were on the site before te downtime aren't working for some reason... I'm trying to figure this out right now so please stand by. -D
-
for the most part everything is back to normal. I still have a few things to work on, but at least you guys can see the site now
-
GD is now installed, so the signature image deal works.... now I'm rebuilding apache with pspell so that the spell check feature will work.......
-
I will be making a post telling details on everything when I'm 100% done with everything. You will notice a few things that don't work, (like the signature thing) but I'm working on this right now. I havn't made a post yet because I was a little sleep deprived while trying to get the site back online (I think that I didn't sleep for two days in a row... but I'm not really sure because I was having delusions, lol... my friend told me it was friday and I thought it was only wednesday.) .... the good thing is that the site is back online, and the server is clean and secure. but I still have work to do. -D

What has happened to the speed test progress bar
CA3LE replied to paladin's topic in General Discussion
this has been corrected. thank you for the heads up... actually this was one of the little things I was originally unaware if but I took care of it
