  2. either write your own or post quoted articles
  3. testmy.net is currently seeking authors to write internet, technology, hardware, software and all around computer news for the site in our newly renovated news section. Positions are limited and there will be many rules to accepting the position, if you think your up to the challenge please let us know in this thread. We will only accept members with a completely clean background with the site (no major past issues) and members that have been with us for a while. If you're interested please also tell us how many articles you would be willing to post to the site on a monthly basis. And of course these positions will come with a spiffy title and rank image Thanks guys! - - - I hope to see allot of people willing to fill these positions.
  4. Actually I noticed that I did in fact have something in place to prevent this... I had it set to no more than 4 recipients at once. This guy ran a script on the site though and his script sent 4 then sent 4 more then sent 4 more.... over and over and over. So it looks as if I need to do a little bit more to prevent this from happening in the future.... as always I will figure out something to make sure that our members are safe. But they will always try, when you have a site that has this many members and has as much traffic this site has jerks will always try to misuse the service. I just under estimated what lengths people would go to... I never thought that someone would go to the trouble of writing a script to get around it. I'm looking into making it where people can only send a limited amount of PMs per day... this will be impossible to bypass Again, I'm so sorry for this being able to get to your inboxes. I hope his ISP does something with him. But I wouldn't be too suprised if he was using someone elses IP to hide.
  5. I went ahead and made the changes needed to fix this from happening in the future. Now, regular members are allowed to send a PM to a maximum of 5 people. This will fix the problem for sure, I'm sure that nobody in their right mind would attempt to send 6200 messages by hand... they will just move on to a site that isn't secure Thanks everyone who reported this.
  6. This member has been banned and he will be reported to his ISP. Sorry to anyone who received this spam. Because of the high volume of people reporting this issue I'll be unable to reply to each person individually, but our mods took care of the problem before I could even get to it. I'm very sick right now but as soon as I'm well I will be taking actions to limit the amount of recipients allowed per message to make it difficult for people like this to spam our members. I thought this was already in place but when I upgraded SMF I must have written over the changes. Again, very sorry this got through. The best thing you can do is delete the message and ignore it. If we all ignore spam like this these people will have no reason try in the future.
  7. Add yourself to our new frappr map [LINK REMOVED ... Site no longer exists] just a fun way to see where our members live, will also give you an idea how close you are to the test server. - Damon
  8. I think you're having a problem testing because it wants to forward you to a size that's too big and the PSP can't handle it, right? Run a test through this >> http://www.testmy.net/o-000 -- and you won't be forwarded, it will only test with the size you chose.
  9. haha *blush* There actually is a word longer than that... it's "smiles" ...... hey, there is a 'mile' between the first and last letter .. }}} bu-du-dum--crash! {{{ lol
  10. It's true.. I went to C:WindowsHelpToursWindowsMediaPlayerAudioWav on my computer and opened one of the WAVs with notepad and on the last line I found 2000-04-06 IENG Deepz0ne ISFT Sound Forge 4.5 Pretty funny.. check out the article I found at techrepublic.com - Damon
  11. It has something to do with DNA... I have no idea what it is specifically, and I don't think I can google something that long.. bah ha ha ha
  12. here is a little fun fact that some of you might find interesting. I was watching the science channel just now (the showDiscoveries This Week) and it was a little fun fact they said before the commercial. The longest word in the dictionary isn't supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. It is in fact a chemical compound that is 1,913 letters long! This is the absolute truth, no joke. It refers to a specific portion of a strand of DNA. Here goes... The longest official word ever (1,913 letters) is the term for the formula C1289H2051N343O375S8 Methionylglutaminylarginyltyrosylglutamylserylleucylphenyl- alanylalanylglutaminylleucyllysylglutamylarginyllysyglutamyl- gycylalanylphenylalanylvalylprolylphenylalanylvalylthreonyl- leucylglycylaspartylprolylglycyllisoleucylglutamylglutaminyl- serylleucyllysylisoleucylaspartylthreonylleucylisoleucyl- glutamylalanylglycylalanylaspartylalanylleucylglutamylleucyl- glycylisoleucylprolylphenylalanylserylaspartylprolylleucyl- alanylaspartylglycylprolylthreonylisoleucylglutaminylasparaginyl- alanylthreonylleucylarginylalanylphenylalanylalanylalanyl- glycylvalylthreonylprolylalanylglutaminylcysteinylphenylalanyl- glutamylmethionylleucylalanylleucylisoleucylarginylglutaminyl- lysylhistidylprolylthreonylisoleucylprolylisoleucylglycylleucyl- leucylmethionyltyrosylalanylasparaginylleucylvalylphenylalanyl- asparaginyllysylglycylisoleucylaspartylglutamylphenylalanyl- tyrosylalanylglutaminylcysteinylglutamyllysylvalylglycylvalyl- aspartylsrylvalylleucylvalylalanylaspartylvalylprolylvalyl- glutaminylglutamylserylalanylprolylphenylalanylarginylglutaminyl- alanylalanylleucylarginylhistidylasparaginylvalylalanyl- prolylisoleucylphenylalanylisoleucylcysteinylprolylprolylaspartyl- alanylaspartylaspartylaspartylleucylleucylarginylglutaminyl- isoleucylalanylseryltyrosylglycylarginylglycyltyrosylthreonyl- tyrosylleucylleucylserylarginylalanylglycylvalylthreonylglycyl- alanylglutamylasparaginylarginylalanylalanylleucylleucyllysyl- glutamyltyrosylasparaginylalanylalanylprolylprolylleucylglutaminyl- glycylphenylalanylglysylisoleucylserylalanylprolylaspartylglutaminyl- valyllysylalanylalanylisoleucylaspartylalanylglycylalanylalanyl- glycylalanylisoleucylserylglycylserylalanylisoleucylvalyllysylisoleucyl- isoleucylglutamylglutaminylhistidylasparaginylisoleucylglutamyl- prolylglutamyllysylmethionylleucylalanylalanylleucyllysylvalylphenyl- alanylvalylglutaminylprolylmethionyllysylalanylalanylthreonylarginy- lserine. Try saying that five times fast But the longest 'real' word that doesn't refer to a name of a disease, place or chemical compound is actually floccinaucinihilipilification. Do you remember the comercial where there were kids at a spelling bee? The host said to the first kid "cat" the kid said "cat, C-A-T, cat. Then the next kid came up and the host said "Your word is floccinaucinihilipilification" and the kid just sat there... then the comerical said something like "does life seem unfair sometimes... grab a coke" or some S#!t like that, lol..... I guess I'm the only one that remembers that. the really funny thing is I tried to run spellcheck on this and it errored out, hahahaha, see the screenshot I've added - you know it's a crazy word when it crashes spellcheck. -Damon
  13. It's going to be really nice when solid-state hard drives become standard. Data access will be so fast! I think at that point we won't need RAM because we will be able to use the solid-state drive for both purposes... what do you guys think?
  14. that would be so awesome... to have a computer that boots up instantly..
  15. that's is rediculus! -- that's $1000/gig .. hahahahahahaha F#@& that! That ram better give blowjobs for that price, lol. It goes from 2GB at 249 to 4GB at 3999.99 - that extra 2 gigs costs 15X that of the first 2GB - they must have to do something really special to get that extra 2GB in there, for that price they must have to hand make a whole new laptop that can support the extra 2GB, lol.
  16. oh, some pictures I just saw on their website showed just the finger stick... it must have just been the model I saw I guess. -- well that's good to know
  17. Thinkpads are well built and very light... I agree with you there. Their design is a little dated but it was a good design then and it's a good design now. I just find it wierd that they use the same case that they've used since like 1997, lol. I I really can't beleive that they STILL don't have a touchpad! Those finger sticks they have drive me crazy.
  18. so far so good.. it still hasn't come back Nobody knows everything... This is actually the first question I've posted, and it's a simple problem with a simple answer.... I just didn't know that there was more than one way to disable it....... and why the hell does the way I was using not work permanently, lol.. damn microsoft!
  19. this theme now comes in 5 choices of color -- http://www.testmy.net/tools/theme_selection-GL.php Also, a new theme called "Greenhouse" has been added
