  1. To confirm that my ccs file has changed your window registry, do this test. RWIN should display as 127776. https://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php
  2. yes, provided you have downloaded the cablenut program. click it again and see if the first value in the top left field reads 127776.
  3. Did you use the Cablenut program to open my file?
  4. I think you may have opened my ccs file but did not click 'Save to Registry', exit and reboot your comp. The last nitro test you did showed a buffer of only 62 Kbytes. My ccs file will double it to 124 Kbyte. Go back to this page and load my ccs file again, click 'Save to Registry', exit and reboot comp. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=11726.0 Then do a speedtest for both down and upload, using the largest file.
  5. Is your comp set to my ccs file or with your orignal file?
  6. Do 3 speedtests at www.testmy.net using the LARGEST file of 2992 KB. Do the tests 5 minutes apart. See if you have large changes in the results.
  7. what is on the other side of the wall? To test if there is EMI near to your modem and connection, turn off your comp, monitor and modem and then use a cordless phone near to your connection and modem and listen if your phone gives out static hiss.
  8. RTT = 372.65msec This value has got higher than the earlier 257 ms. Seems to me that you have problem in line quality. Most common source is from some form of electromagnetic interference (EMI) affecting your phone and connection lines or modem. Check to see if you have anything that may give out strong source of EMI? Last week, we had a guy here whose line was affected by his heat pump located on the other side of the wall.
  9. Do this test again and just post the last 2 paragraphs of MORE DETAILS: http://nitro.ucsc.edu/
  10. And the modem is connected directly to your computer through a USB connection? Is your modem placed near any electrical device (eg. sound speakers, telephone/fax, directly on top of your comp tower...)?
  11. No. It is just that your ISP has put in routers that will not respond to a ping. We have to locate the problem by elimination. Are you using a modem and router? Is your system a wireless?
  12. Oops! It is a reverse Ping and Traceroute. Do not key in 'www.testmy.net into the white box. When you get to this link, there will be numbers in the white box which is your IP address. This is the IP address you want to Ping and Traceroute to. Before you copy the results and post them into this forum, blank out the last few digits of your IP address.
  13. Sorry! Here is the link: https://www.speedguide.net/networktools.php
  14. Go to this link and check the box to select the test. Key in 'www.testmy.net' into the white box at the bottom and click 'go'
  15. Your RTT value is too high for USA. Carry out a Ping and a Traceroute to check where the high delay is.
  16. You seem to have pretty high time values in your first and second hops. Did you place your modem and router close to each other? If so, separate them a few feet apart.
  17. Any guide from the manufacturer's website to access the driver of your modem? Until you find the way, set your NIC to auto.
  18. "estimate = 1.42 based on packet size = 11Kbits, RTT = 257.1msec, and loss = 9.22509E-4 The theoretical network limit is 1.42 Mbps The NDT server has a 101.0 KByte buffer which limits the throughput to 3.06 Mbps Your PC/Workstation has a 62.0 KByte buffer which limits the throughput to 1.89 Mbps The network based flow control limits the throughput to 1.93 Mbps" You are from overseas? Your RTT = 257 ms and RWIN setting at 63888 limits throughput to less than 2 Mbps. Try this ccs file.
  19. Sorry, I read it wrong as half duplex.
  20. I personally have not done any of these adjustments as mentioned in the link as I am connected directly through a USB modem. The section that mentioned force setting is here: "ntl:home 100/120 (Ambit) duplex setting The ntl:home 100/120 (Ambit) cable modem duplex setting can be configured by the user, by using the web pages at http://192.168.100.1/, user root password root. By default, the cable modem is configured to auto-negotiate its speed and duplex setting to be the same as your ethernet card. If you manually configure an explicit speed and duplex setting in your ethernet card, you should also configure the same one in the cable modem, thus removing auto-negotiation from both ends of the link. The optimal setting is to manually force both the ethernet card and the cable modem to full-duplex, thus avoiding all ethernet collisions, and avoiding any possibility of an auto-negotiation mistake. "
  21. Test speed results also depend on internet traffic conditions. Usually, I will test my comp's optimum performance at 5-6 am period. But this auto setting is the correct one.But as said in the link on cable modem, some auto setting may not function well, and a force half-duplex setting in both NIC and modem may be needed.
  22. After the test is completed, you will see 2 buttons below the Test Box. Click them and you will get the 2 reports to post here.
  23. To get optimum speed, you need to correct the mismatch in duplex setting. I recommend you check the manufacturer's website or call your ISP for assistance.
  24. Your present setting should give you higher test speed than 1.4 Mbps. Perhaps your system have some other problems. Please test here and post results of STATISTICS and MORE DETAILS: http://nitro.ucsc.edu/
  25. Sorry, NIC. Read this link: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/ethernet.html#ethernet
