First welcome to the forum! I have Insightbb and pay for 10/1. On my wireless laptop I get around 9.2-9.8 download. On the wired desktop I get 10.2-10.5. You might want to try hard wired and see what you get.

You are not really speeding up the internet! What you are really doing is tweaking your machine to except the internet better thus making it a little faster!

If it was me I'd backup everything I wanted to save and do a clean install. From what I've read it the best way to do it. You can do an upgrade with out loosing anything. It takes it a long time to do the job tho!

You can't compare W7 and Vista. I've been using W7 since it was in Beta. Right now I'm using W7 Ultimate 32 bit. I not ever going back to XP or Vista. You will be happy you changed, I was!

I would say your loosing most of your speed crossing the big pond (Atlantic Ocean). Our server is in Dallas,Texas.
