I have the same modem (webstar dpc 2100 series) and I could only get about 3.2 Mbps. then I played with a lot of Van's settings and jumped to 5.9 Mbps on a 2992 kB test now I get 4.5-5.1 Mbps on the 5883 kB. So play with cablenut setting by Van they work.

Most of the time my connection (when it works, that is not quite often these days), is equal of slow that a dial-up, with the difference of which mia has but failures and cuts.
