  1. overclocking , for me if stock ain't good enought , why waste $$$$ on super cooling etc , when a new puter or upgrade is called for ? anyway 6 months down the line we are all out of date anyway ,IMHO ,
  2. my dreams of the 28th Sept are fading , 70 to go @ 22.49 BST ,28th Sept. take it from me Bro , Whipped cream goes rancid after about one hour , with body heat , but strawberry jelly is good for 3,on the nips ( so I have been told ) the usuall disclaimer applies

  4. Grandpa your quote " and sometimes clueless " makes me feel better , indeed in some computing areas I am totally clueless, so OK I try to help folk in the UK , I just been trying for 3 days to get a freebie friend on line with broad band with sky ADSl , her line is enabled for adsl after a 3 week wait , but no joy , I finally get onto Sky help desk , finally get to Tech level , after pages of scripted talk , we do all the tests , all work out OK , ( various tone Sig's down the phone line etc, zilch , she lives in a company apartment , and my first question was you do have your own phone line "yes " no she doesn't she has a company "dial 9" for a line connection , DUH , any one got the answer for this , OK 56K dial up would not be a problem , as I can add the "9 " but for allways on broad band ????????, I told her to contact the company Tech guy , his reply is "I don't know " Oh lol, "where angels fear to tread" springs to mind here , Yours sincerely Clueless UK
  5. thanks for clearing that up for me FallowEarth, it works ok for me , as USB 2 is not activated in the BIOS , and USB is not recognized in pre boot in older puters , although you will need sound drivers and Vid adapters from the makers , also a laptop hard drive to desktop adaptor , cheap enough anyway,
  6. yeah ,OK my browser "maxthon " took care of the pop ups , it makes a drum sound on popups, it sounded like "drumming up storm " so can anybody trust me with a USA Zip code ?( P.M) as I would like to vote on your next Pres. I would be happy to swap my UK Post code in exchange . BTW, 52% of UK voters(female ) would vote for Bill Clinton ) James Carter came 2nd , but a very close blow by blow decision in the UK

  15. LOL my speed finally settled at 1.9 Mbps the original high speeds was due to line adaptive rates ? (best reliable speed obtainable ) on my phone line , this was the same speed as I obtained from a BT engineer line test ,so came as no great suprise , now moving on to 2007 , ADSL+2 is rolling out in the UK , my Exchange is now ready , but my ISP -Pipex has been taken over by Tiscali .com rated 49 th out of 50 for reliability and service , my contract (1 year is up ) so I can move on free of charge , so is it that easy ?, my email addresses will change, I use one for business so that could be a loss of income , folks have know me as Trader-xxxx for 5 years ,for me reliability, cost , and finally way back in the priorities speed , are the important factors , + I use a laptop on 56K dial up for my Biz account , as I can plug it in any phone jack and get my mail , the UK's big problem is the past it's sell by phone line system , my phone line is 60+ years old , and the exchange is 3 miles away so using ADSL is never going to be fast for me , and the same for a lot of other UK folk , the bad thing is the advertising of 8Mb service is in the small print " up to 8Mb " if any UK member needs to learn more ,have a look on http://www.dslzoneuk.net/ it explains more about our "unique adsl system " , BT=British Telecommunications who own all the phone line systems in the UK , so for ADSL no mater who your ISP is, they rent the line from BT ,
