Officials appealed to European Union countries for help." France sent two firefighting aircraft, while Germany offered three helicopters. 14. very sad news , it seems the weather "A hot, dry summer, with temperatures recently touching 40C (104F) has left much of the country vulnerable. and hot, dry winds were expected to continue through Saturday, gusting up to gale force and fanning the flames." I guess I should stop bitching about our wet summer in the UK ,I think it would take a flamethrower to start a fire here ,
  15. note the small print in my sig.
  16. sorry for cutting down your post ninjageek, I agree, with most of your original post # 45 , but as a child of the 60's , we got it wrong , life ain't that simple unfortunately , and "smoke" is just avoiding the unpleasant IMHO , but stay on your box , a bit more brotherly love, is needed all round , Hitler , the worlds greatest orator , started out right in the 1930's and was the leader Germany needed at that time , Germany had a massive immigration problem , (has America not got a similar problem today ? ) his biggest mistake was opening the Eastern front ( Russia ) who he had labeled subhumans , this was done against the advice of his militarycomanders , secret weapons , well how did we get a man into space without the knowledge that was gained from those times , from my times with the elitist German engineers , (and believe me they still exist ) Quote , anon , "we achieved what we set out to achieve, Hitler would have been dismissed , and buried if we had won the war , but just look around you , we finally got there " , so as a Brit. engineer I looked around , and could see their point , BTW I am not a Nazi, new or old , a hidden SS officer aged 80 y. a Jew or Christian, but a simple observer of life , and all it's hidden twists and turns , and have learnt not to judge a book by it's cover ,
  17. Hmmm. an interesting project , I have loads of old dell latitude laptops , and 5 desktop computers 4 running CRT's , so is this possible ? at low cost, as I could sure use the desk space ,
  18. Thanks for your support guys , and yes I still have your info Tdawnaz (and printed out ) never forgotten, for me I have to battle the inner demon , I am doing it for my grandchildren , I can still beat the oldest on the bike, not by stamina , but but skill, but not for much longer , yesterday off road proved to me that time is running out , and I want to be around too teach them more , and thanks Coknuck for your inspiration, My symptoms if I give up the weed violent mood swings light headiness lack of concentration mental depression and vitriolic posts on TMN forum so guys expect the worst in my posts This is going way of topic, So should I start a new topic for those trying to give up smoking a kinda self help topic /challenge on giving up the habit/addiction ?
  19. Nah , at my Age I would be asleep F**k how I ever got involved with smoking I will never understand , I didn't start tillI was 30 years old , but I am addicted ,
  20. Yeah, if I ever leave the UK , thats one thing I would miss, those cool sharp mornings, when physical exertion feels real good , the sky is clear blue, and no F**ing rain , ( the UK 's wetest summer on record 2007) and being on the bike feels good , and thats my hope for the UK autumn , BTW ,I am on a doctors suggested keep fit program for quiting smoking , it's begining to work , every time I feel like smoking , I cycle 5 miles, it works better than the Oxford UNI advice to masterbate if I took that I would be near blind
  21. Thanks Reso ........, you are right on that ,yes I have catalytic gas burners (2) but not used much , maybe in Dec-Jan if it is a cold winter ,
  22. Hmmm , I had one when I was when I was 8 years old , when I was seriously ill , so for me it's real ,
  23. Yeah, many civilisations did this , and recently so did hippie communes , but all eventually failed , it's all down to the inherent "I want one, or one better " syndrome , which is the driving force in human evolution , some just have it more than others , 20 years ago, I saw the light , and now live without central heating ,aircon , TV, designer clothes etc, with 4 year old computer , and a 33 years old , car folks thought I was , but I have no debt and I am my own man , suddenly folks are saying I wish I could live that way, , BTW ,I am not a complete hermit (yet ) I bought a microwave cooker 5 years back
