hey chanan and welcome to the forum 1. What OS are you running, ex win 98, win xp, if you have XP make sure you have SP2 installed! Also download the p2p fix for SP2 here https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 2. What service do you have, what is the advertised speed for download/upload. 3. What tweakprograms you already got installed, and run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks copy and paste result URL adress in your post! 4. What speed do you have against www.testmy.net and http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ also make a tracert, go to start-run type command and hit enter, type tracert testmy.net and hit enter, right click copy all and paste it in your post. use the 2992 KB test downstream and use 1496 KB test upstream post score again VanBuren
-
if your capped at 1 Mbps up, thats a good score 1 Mbps = 1000 / 8,192 = 122 KB/s TCP overhead is approx 10 % and thats useless data, that TCP protocol need so 10% of 122 is 12.2 KB/s so the maximal speed would be around 122 - 12 = 110 KB/s so it looks like your right on cap VanBuren

dern Swimmer, this reminds me i need a upgrade 5975 p on my AMD 1700+ that AMD 3400+ did real well, beated the 3500+ by far but the 3500+ peform very well in other tests, i think i will go for that when upgrade VanBuren

hey sthomas and welcome to the forum Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need. Open Internet Explorer and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure nothing there is checked. Connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it depend on the ISP service unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL. If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot http://beam.to/spybotsd and Ad Aware http://www.lavasoft.com/support/download to remove any spyware. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one, AVG is great http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates. Download and run CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ try that VanBuren

dern my bad, i thought you was on a 3000 / 768 package use this file, its made for 1500/ 384 and should work alot better your upload should be able to go faster then that, i thought Verizon had a 384 Kbps upload on 1500 package VanBuren
-
i use this site alot www.dslnuts.com read their tips and tricks page, that explain how to set some values seems like you are maxed out, shooting 97% of cap and cos the increase was very low with using a large TCP windowSize i suggest you go back and use the file as it was with a TcpWindowSize of 64240 for faster webrowsing just reload the file and click save to registry VanBuren
-
no problem its almost impossible to find the right settings direct, the hardest is to fine tune TcpWindowSize so it fit all if its too big you will drop packets and if its too small you will slow down try this open cablenut, change TcpWindowSize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize from 64240 to 256960 also change Tcp1323Opts from 0 to 1 now click save to registry and reboot make a new speedtest both up and down, use the 2992 KB test down and 1496 KB up VanBuren

hey Ether and welcome to the forum do you have SP1 or SP2, also, do you have a router, if so bypass it and see if things speed up VanBuren
