  1. hey falco, i did the very same thing, added a pc 3200 stick with my 2 pc 2100 and had 768 MB of RAM however after approx a year that pc 3200 stick broked down, for some unknown reason, system got unstable and shut off for no reason sometimes 1st i thought it was a virus but i couldnt find anything like that, so i figured ill try to unplug that stick and since that pc running fine. well atleast so fine as 512 MB run hehe Im not saying this will happen for you, it might been me damaged that stick when i increased the FSB to Overclock my CPU. anyways its worth a shot good luck VanBuren
  2. hey cloudeleven and welcome to the forum run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks copy result URL adress and paste it here so we can see it VanBuren
  3. bypass your router and reboot your modem for 30 seconds also make a new speedtest also make a tracert start-run type cmd and hit enter type tracert testmy.net and hit enter rightclick copy all and paste it here VanBuren
  4. follow the steps, we cant help you if you dont provide more info VanBuren
  5. hey Sovereign and welcome to the forum follow these steps and post again https://testmy.net/topic-605 VanBuren
  6. This topic has been moved to Make it Faster.... [iurl]https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=2043.0[/iurl]
  7. you have a very long route to testmy.net and will never reach 6500 Kbps what you can change in those files is DefaultRecive window, so it match 6500 and not 6000 as download cap the new value is 6500 / 8 = 813 x 1024 = 832512 VanBuren
  8. then use 230ms and your done
  9. why do you ask if hes still here? You know there been some issues here, i thought everyone had left this behind now, but i was wrong....... If you need to ask him something why dont you just simply PM him or send him a email? thread is closed VanBuren
  10. use the 2992KB file as i suggested before, over that high latency those small testfiles is not accurate
  11. Not a big increase but its cool it was abit faster when you get the upgrade, download this file https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=550 and unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut then choose files in this path C:ProgramCablenutVanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_3vanburens_cablenut_settings_version_CABLE_FIBER_DIAL-UPWinXP_2K_CABLE_DSLMSS1460 VanBuren
  12. test the last files i attached and tell me what file that works best, 200 ms latency or 300 ms latency, its inside the 6000 768.zip file VanBuren
  13. I dont think you will go much faster then this, your already above your cap...... what is your upload? however, backup your current settings open cablenut, in top left corner click file, click save custom settings file and save the backup and you can try the file i made for 3500 384 if you dont go faster, just load your old backed up settings again VanBuren
  14. hey bluntdog and welcome to the forum follow these steps and post again https://testmy.net/topic-605 VanBuren
  15. thats some advertising VanBuren
  16. then there is not much to do, the route between you and testmy.net is long and if you get loss on a 300 ms ping then it will slow down alot VanBuren
  17. do a search in this forum, then deside if i give you "Correct" information https://testmy.net/topic-1996 check that thread for example VanBuren
  18. i made 3 files for you with a latency of 200, 250, 300 try em out, remember to click save to registry every time you change and reboot VanBuren
  19. download other files, close to where you live but i suggest you try values instead, this can take some time, first try 220 ms then try 200, now you see a diff in speed and know where you heading if speed decrease, try a larger latency eg 300 ms VanBuren
  20. also always use the 2992 KB test when testing speed here
  21. http://thegamer.serveftp.com/FAQ.htm quote 25. Run this TCP analyzer http://forums.speedguide.net:8117/ 26. Find that MSS value eg 1460 27. Find 2 big files to download where you get full speed here is some fast servers [uSA users] ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64 ftp://ftp.newaol.com/aol6.0/179902/setupaol60.exe ftp://test.tampabay.rr.com/ftp.50m.sav [EU users] http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/vendor/microsoft/ServicePack6/sp6i386.exe ftp://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/games/urbanterror/urbanterror37_full.exe ftp://ftp.ltu.se/pub/misc/bf1942/maps/4maps4theaterswar_mappack.zip start the download when you use your maximal bandwidth, eg download 1 running 300 kbps + download 2 running 325 kbps = 625 kbps = 5 Mbps, ping your isp (for optimal ping to use later is the ping to your first hop). 28. Run this RWIN calculator http://www.dslnuts.com/bitsbytes.shtml in bandwidth field use your capped speed in Kilo Byte, so if you have 1500 kbps, split that in 8 (8 bit= 1 byte) and you get 187,5 KB/s, use the ping you got in #29 in latency field, and the MSS value from #28. 29. Now you have a optimized RWIN value. 30. Open cablenut adjuster in top left corner click open file, browse to VanBurens cablenut settings folder choose the connection you have and OS and also the folder with your MSS, now dubbleclick on the file that suit your advertised speed eg Cable & DSL 3500 384. If your calculated RWIN is above 65535, you need to set Tcp13230pts to 1. 31. Now you got a few values set in adjuster, change TcpWindowSize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize to that RWIN value you calculated before. Also change TcpRecvSegmentSize and TcpSendSegmentSize to your MSS.
  22. i like speed 2
  23. yea 90% of your cap is good, cos you need to consider TCP overhead of around 10% VanBuren
  24. heya mistkron make sure you have 6000 768 file installed as it is, then read this post https://testmy.net/topic-1989.msg19795#msg19795 and finetune your TcpWindowSize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize 6000 Kbps = 6000 / 8 = 750 KB/s MSS = 1460 latency = the tweakfile using 250 ms the latency here suppose to be the worst possibleyou have to your gateway, try downloading several files and see what ping you get a normal ping is between 200 and 300 ms Web100 reports the Round trip time = 281.09 msec; the Packet size = 1460 Bytes; and There were 3 packets retransmitted, 35 duplicate acks received, and 29 SACK blocks received you had 3 packets re transmitted, measure the latency to gateway or try reducing the latency to 220 ms and see if the re transmissions stops. VanBuren
  25. its funny how ppl diss SP2 without any form of solid information what the problem is....... as you can see the tweaktester report diffrent RWIN with same cablenut file, before and after SP2 if SP2 gave performance problems please enlighteen me why i pull 92 % of my cap overseas with SP2 installed...
