I dont know much about Linux, but i know the TCP settings will need some tweaking aswell as Windows to max out broadband connections to get close to capped speed. VanBuren

try this Jack download this attached file and unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut open cablenut, in top left coner you see file, click load custom settings file, browse to C:ProgramCablenut and dubble click on the file you unzipped now you have some values set in adjuster, click save to registry and reboot, by pass router and connect direct to modem make a new speedtest both from testmy.net and speakeasy and tweaktest and post result VanBuren

Thats a myth, im using SP2 and pull 9.2 Mbps all the way from Sweden http://www.dslnuts.com/ quote" Microsoft has updated the TCP/IP to include AFDParameters from the IPv4 and wont read TcpWindowSize correctley in most analyzers, what this means is that the only tool that will tweak correctley at this point is the Cablenut program. As we get more information we willl post it. Here are the comments and link to Mnosteeles news thread. http://www.broadbandnuts.com/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=3126 If you have additional info on the changes feel free to add to that thread.. This is also effected in all flavors of Windows 2003 server. Quote: by Mnosteele Well it

-
that score should be alot faster if its inside theplanet network, even if you using windows default settings... unless your capped at that speed try the fiberoptic files i have in version 3 of my tweaks https://testmy.net/topic-1013 VanBuren
-

Web100 reports the Round trip time = 1653.63 msec; the Packet size = 1460 Bytes; and There were 10 packets retransmitted, 33 duplicate acks received, and 42 SACK blocks received The connection was idle 0 seconds (0%) of the time This connection is receiver limited 33.06% of the time. This connection is network limited 66.90% of the time. Contact your local network administrator to report a network problem Contact your local network admin and report excessive packet reordering send all this info in your last post with test link to your ISP, a RTT of 1653 is 10 times too much also make a traceroute to this server http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ the problem is in this node 2 19 ms 58 ms 105 ms brhm-t2core-b-ge-wan71.inet.ntl.com [213.106.231.185] good luck VanBuren

do you have a router installed? If so, by pass it and connect your pc directly to modem, also reboot your cablemodem for 30 seconds and make a new speedtest both at speakeasy and testmy.net VanBuren
-
this dosent look very good, you loosing packets and have a latency ( RTT) of 1618 ms bw = 0.08 based on packet size = 11Kbits, RTT = 1618.36msec, and loss = 0.0060240961611270905 The theoretical network limit is 0.08 Mbps The transmit buffer (101.0 KByte) limits the application to 0.48 Mbps Your receive buffer (64.0 KByte) limits the application to 0.30 Mbps The network based flow control limits the application to 0.30 Mbps run test again and also copy all text in "Statistic" VanBuren
-
what speed do you get here? http://atl.speakeasy.net/ VanBuren
-
your ISP probl block ICMP traffic VanBuren
-
you retransmit packets, and that probl beqause of that node, it might be overloaded, ISP hook up too many users on same node however run this test aswell http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ copy all text you find on result, click more info and copy all text paste it in a new post VanBuren

way above your cap down and abit over your cap up...... be happy, nothing more to do VanBuren
-
hey again Nitro yea it is a problem at your ISP end if you average that node with 150 ms run this test and let me see what settings you have now after you loaded the file http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks post result URL VanBuren
-
hey again mbrainerd what you can do is to change DefaultSendWindow so it match your new uploadcap, the setting you use now is based on a 1024 Kbps upload cap so use 896 / 8 = 112 KB/s x 1024 = 114688 and the DefaultReciveWindow suppose to be multiple with 1024 so i would suggest 27648 or a larger value, untill you find the "break point" where the speed decreasing cos of retransmissions. VanBuren
-
very nice, im happy for you to finally get what you pay for what are your current Cablenut settings? make a screenshot or open adjuster and in top left corner click save custom settings file, then .zip it and attach it here VanBuren
-
hey Jack and welcome to the forum those scores are ugly on that package, and i dont think its a tweak issue do like this open cablenut, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry now reboot your pc, also reboot your modem leave it off for 30 full seconds. also reboot your router now make a new speedtest, and a tweaktest and post result VanBuren
-
thats crazy VanBuren
-
hes cap is 1 Mbps up and live somewhere in Sweden VanBuren
-
you have some re transmissions quote "Web100 reports the Round trip time = 175.23 msec; the Packet size = 1460 Bytes; and There were 18 packets retransmitted, 466 duplicate acks received, and 87 SACK blocks received" you need to finetune TcpWindowSize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize check this post how to do... https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1989.msg19795#msg19795 your MSS is 1460 your Bandwidth is 3 Mbps = 375 KB/s try diffrent latency i would suggest to go lower and see if the re transmissions in Nitrotest decrease the tweakfile using 250 ms but i would suggest 220 ms first VanBuren
-
you are very close to your cap already but if you like to test my tweaks, download cablenut 4.08 here https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=64 install win XP SP2 if you dont have it already download the attached file, unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut open cablenut adjuster, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry in top left corner, click file, click load custom settings file, browse to C:ProgramCablenut and dubble click on the file you unzipped now click save to registry and reboot, reboot your modem and router aswell for 30 seconds make a speedtest and a tweaktest http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks copy result URL adress from tweaktest and post it here good luck VanBuren
-
post again when you got it installed, ill be around VanBuren
-
if your using my cable tweaks you will need XP2, however you can try my DSL tweaks aswell but it dosent give same boost to speed as the cable tweaks VanBuren
