I recently purchased Norton Internet Security 2005 and are very happy with that, blocked alot of intruders. I used to have NOD 32 and it worked great too, but i had trouble with auto update (wonder why) so i had some trojans I still randomly check my puter online with other antivirus programs like housecall, no one has found any virus after i installed Norton. Norton take some resourses but its very easy to use VanBuren

and remember no speedtest is 100% accurate, even tho Testmy.net is very close that dosent mean that the fastest speedtest is the most accurate, i have a feeling alot of ppl think that. My ISP speedtest is the most accurate i ever seen, but its not a "web" test, its a complete testprogram that measure your speed for 10 seconds upstream and downstream. Both in UDP and TCP. That make the testfile size in my case around 1.2 MB/s x 10 = 12 MB and for 100 Mbps connections 120 MB. VanBuren

60 bucks / month gives you the "standard" package. 400/128 Kbps you need to ask yourself, what are you using your connection to? If you play multiplayer games wireless is the way to go. If you dont play multiplayer games, and you get better speed with Direct Way do not change. VanBuren

you first need to fix the ping issue, demand that your ISP fix that. VanBuren

I remember the 56k days, when i moved to a place and got a 512/64 Kbps cable it was awsome, the speed was sooo fantastic. Downloadspeed of 40 KB/s on Napster was like wow ! Then i moved again to a place with fiberoptics, 10 Mbps up and down. it was like OMG !!! Its very easy to get spoiled with speed, today i wouldnt even bother downloading movies in 40 KB/s. If the speed is below 400 KB/s i try somone else. VanBuren

I have no burst cos my ping overseas to tesmy.net is around 160 ms. infact i have a "negative burst" my top speed is not reached before i have downloaded aprox 2 MB, thats why i run faster on big tests, burst has very small impact on result with 12 MB. VanBuren

' yea i must have been kinda tired when reading that, sorry Basik my bad VanBuren

hey Jenny You have Bresnan Communications Cable, they offer 2 packages 3 Mbps down or 4 Mbps down. I think you have 3 Mbps downstream. When you use cablenut its important to use the right MSS value and customfile. I suggest you use this file since we dont know your upload cap. "Cable & DSL 3000 128" its in ProgramCablenutVanBurens cablenut settingsWinXP_2K_CABLE_DSLMSS1460 folder. good luck VanBuren

hey justin 45K is nothing of 3 Mbps, if you had a 56k connection i would have understand why you think TCP optimizer worked better then Cablenut. TCP optimizer use a very large RWIN value, that get you alot of burst speed first MB you downloading and the test calculate your average speed, so 1 MB of burst in this case has a very big impact on result. Use the 3 MB test instead to find a more accurate result. also read this thread about burst speed and large RWIN. http://www.testmy.net/forumz/viewtopic.php?t=1011&start=0 VanBuren

did the file work? Same thing has happend to me a couple of times, but all was fakeshare movies and did not work. Edit: this show how accurate some speedmeters are, also a funny thing to add Comhem is a swedish cable modem ISP with a maximal upload speed of 1 Mbps hehe VanBuren
