Yea on badroutes and overseas a larger testfile will give a more accurate result. Ice try my server in sweden, you can load up to 20 MB testfile. http://thegamer.serveftp.com/ I know it wont be as fast as a US server, i drop from 10 Mbps to 3.8 Mbps to testmy.net. But give it a try VanBuren

Hows this for 39 bucks a month service... Im happy.

COX COMMUNICATIONS INCREASES SPEEDS FOR HAMPTON ROADS
VanBuren replied to SkateZilla's topic in Make it Faster...
Same thing for me, if i ping em it works fine but tracerts mess them up. VanBuren -
Did you try it during download? Maby the problem only accure when you download/upload. Your cap is 2560 Kbps and you score 1054 Kbps that shouldnt affect your ping to 1st hop much (the hop thats controlled by isp). But i can see it does that for some reason here 1 83 ms 55 ms 24 ms ********.*********.chello.nl [***.***.***.***] Normal ping for cable to 1st hop is around 30 ms, you have a average of 55 and not using half your bandwidth. That make no sence to me VanBuren
-
No im not pinging you, check how clean this tracert is to chello.nl http://img71.exs.cx/img71/2694/chello_nl.jpg the only thing i can think about when looking at that tracert you posted is packetloss. VanBuren
-
i see alot of packetloss here Nothing we can do about it i think, if you can, do the same thing from your school VanBuren

COX COMMUNICATIONS INCREASES SPEEDS FOR HAMPTON ROADS
VanBuren replied to SkateZilla's topic in Make it Faster...
these nodes seems very unstable for me 9 136 ms 142 ms 156 ms pos2-0.cr2.ams2.nl.above.net [208.184.231.254] 10 144 ms 133 ms 141 ms pos3-0.cr1.ams2.nl.above.net [64.125.31.169] try to ping em and ping will change all the time, they are after all in your country and your ping shouldnt be more then 50 ms. VanBuren -
ewwww Dern, try 20 MB test and during download make a tracert, to see where the problem is. I think chello and my isp has very bad routing between them, i got a friend in NL with dsl hes ping is normal 42-47 ms and score very accurate. VanBuren

Heyas RTB Make a tracert from school and from your home and compare, nl above nodes been unstable a few days now. Did you tweak at school btw? you can always try thegamer.serveftp.com if your not planning to go above 8 Mbps VanBuren -
couldnt said it better myself VanBuren

Post more scores Add what your cap is and what you get from my test, also what ping you have to thegamer.serveftp.com I think i found the right settings now, several friends tested it and showed very accurate. VanBuren

New dl record for me here :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 3664 Kbps about 3.7 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is:: 447 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 65 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2.29 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=CSFYEDL6T Not bad overseas Keep on testing overseas http://thegamer.serveftp.com VanBuren -

Try using 100 Mbps half duplex, almost all dsl and cable connections are halfduplex, so you will never have any advantage of setting it to full duplex. The only dsl i know using full duplex is vdsl with same upload cap as download. Im not 100% sure of this but give it a try, if your speed gets faster in full duplex then use it but i really daubt it. quote from dslreports.com faq "Q: 1 or 2+ second stall detected: (#1606) A: This is quite common, and not a big issue. Congestion on the Net is the cause, and this will fluctuate throughout the day/night. If it is a consistent finding, run a Line Quality Test and look for slow, bogged down servers (red & yellow warnings). The most important thing is speed. If your speeds are fine, then don't be concerned with this." You can try to set your RWIN even lower then 8760 cos when you get packetloss the speed wont be so affected as it is now. I got abit confused i remember helping you before and then you said you had 256kbps connection. But lets assume its 128 http://www.dslnuts.com/bitsbytes.shtml with this RWIN calculator i suggest to use 16 in bandwith field (128kbps) and 200 ms in latencyfield and 1460 in MSS field. that give you a RWIN of 2920 That will limit your speed to a server with 200 ms ping to 16KB/s. if your capped speed is 256kbps just use that RWIN calculator with 32 instead of 16 in bandwith field. and get a new RWIN value. Good luck ! VanBuren

Been a way over the weekend, and i changed some settings again. Keep on posting scores, even tho some of em are slow, that way i can get it working better. VanBuren

I run 10 Mbps full duplex, in autosence my NIC choose 100 Mbps halfduplex for some reason.... I tested to run at 100 Mbps full duplex but then i got hevy packetloss at my upload. My speed was like 5 Mbps upsteam So i set it to 10 Mbps full and my upload speed got up to 9.5 Mbps and no packetloss. I belive all has to try what best for them. VanBuren
-
Tnx for the feedback You might know how much i like to tweak so i check stats and trying to improve uploadspeed over high ping. So keep on testing hehe VanBuren

Very nice speed ICE ! How is your routing to other test sites like www.dslreport.com testservers? VanBuren
