  3. yea im also on fiber optics and ping that low is only seen against servers in Max approx radius of 200 Miles quote from http://www.rpatrick.com/tech/speeding/ "From the NANOG FAQ: Q: How much latency should I see on a circuit? What is considered normal? A: As I'm sure everyone remembers from their high school physics class, light travels through a vacuum at 299,792 km/sec (let's round up to 300,000). When it travels through a medium that isn't a vacuum, it moves more slowly, depending on that medium's index of refraction. For example, water has a refractive index of 1.33, which means light travels through water at 1 / 1.33 = 0.75c, or 75% of the speed of light in a vacuum, about 225,000 km/sec. Fiber works on a principal called "total internal refraction," which means that light is continually reflected into the core with little or no loss in the cladding. To accomplish this, a different material is used for the core and cladding. Since the cladding has a lower refractive index than the core, as long as the angle of incidence exceeds a critical angle, light will be reflected back into the core instead of escaping out the sides. The values of the refractive indexes used in current fiber are 1.46 for the cladding, and 1.48 for the core. This means that light propogates through fiber at approximately 0.67c, or 200,000 km/sec (or 125,000 miles/sec). By multiplying by 1ms, we find that every 200 km (or 125 miles) adds approximately 1 millisecond of one-way speed-of-light delay. Divide this by 2 to account for the round trip time (RTT) that ping/traceroute measures in, and you find that for every 100 km (or 62.5 miles), 1ms of RTT is added." http://www.testmy.net/topic-837 this is my trace on fiber optics 1 1 ms <10 ms <10 ms ua-213-115-113-2.cust.bredbandsbolaget.se [213.1 15.113.2] 2 1 ms <10 ms <10 ms vlan2.dr2.lul10.se.bredband.com [195.54.119.238] 3 2 ms 3 ms 3 ms vlan3.dr1.lul1.se.bredband.com [195.54.119.233] 4 1 ms <10 ms <10 ms ge1-2.cr1.lul1.se.bredband.com [195.54.120.225] 5 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms pos6-0.cr2.svl1.se.bredband.com [195.54.124.26] 6 11 ms 12 ms 11 ms srp9-0.cr1.svl1.se.bredband.com [195.54.123.177] 7 20 ms 21 ms 20 ms pos6-0.cr2.sto1.se.bredband.com [195.54.123.181] 8 21 ms 20 ms 20 ms pos14-0.cr1.sto1.se.bredband.com [195.54.123.129 ] 9 21 ms 21 ms 21 ms pos13-0.cr2.sto2.se.bredband.com [195.54.123.106 ] 10 38 ms 38 ms 38 ms pos1-0.br1.ams1.se.bredband.com [195.54.123.150] 11 38 ms 39 ms 38 ms ge4-2.mpr2.ams1.nl.above.net [195.69.144.122] 12 38 ms 38 ms 39 ms so-3-1-0.mpr3.ams1.nl.above.net [64.125.27.173] 13 39 ms 39 ms 38 ms so-0-0-0.mpr1.ams5.nl.above.net [64.125.27.182] 14 52 ms 52 ms 52 ms so-5-0-0.cr2.lhr3.uk.above.net [64.125.27.177] 15 124 ms 124 ms 124 ms so-7-0-0.cr2.dca2.us.above.net [64.125.27.165] 16 152 ms 152 ms 152 ms so-2-3-0.cr2.dfw2.us.above.net [64.125.29.13] 17 152 ms 152 ms 152 ms 216.200.6.237.theplanet.com [216.200.6.237] 18 153 ms 152 ms 152 ms dist-vlan31.dsr3-2.dllstx3.theplanet.com [70.85. 127.30] 19 152 ms 152 ms 153 ms dist-vlan41.dsr2-1.dllstx4.theplanet.com [70.85. 127.83] 20 152 ms 152 ms 152 ms gig1-0-2.tp-car9-2.dllstx4.theplanet.com [67.18. 116.86] 21 153 ms 152 ms 152 ms 6.67-19-36.reverse.theplanet.com [67.19.36.6] but im in Sweden, so its not very close hehe VanBuren
  4. good job php Its easy to use, but could you write one version that automatic check ping and tracert testmy.net and automatic copy the log, so ppl using the program just have to click paste when they ask for help here? Im sure most ppl can handle this as it is, but it would help some VanBuren
  5. what latency did you calculate with? VanBuren
  6. hey just- what tweaks are you running? yea it might be the route my route almost never change to testmy.net. but speed change alot, there is packetloss that never show up on the tracert VanBuren
  7. MTU = Maximum Transfer Unit MTU also limit MSS ( Maximum Segment Size ) and thats the amount of bytes in each packet your pc send/ receive MTU = MSS +40 ( 40byte overhead) a large MTU is always faster then a smaller one, cos you need less packets to transfer a certain amount of data However a diff between a MTU of 1492 and 1500 is almost none against low ping servers and low speed transfers VanBuren
  8. looks like your capped 128 Kbps upstream VanBuren
  9. looks like your maxing out somewhere, almost same score with tweaks VS default try bypassing your router and connect your PC direct to modem via ethernet, test again VanBuren
  10. hey Darweeezy and welcome to the forum 3. What tweakprograms you already got installed, and run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks copy and paste result URL adress in your post! VanBuren

  13. hey scabs and welcome to the forum thanks for that great post , i wish all ppl that need help could post all these details first try this bypass your router and connect your PC direct to modem via ethernet make a new speedtest VanBuren
  14. hey asiandiscovery have you tried version 6 of my tweakfiles? and hows your upload? that linequality test was not done VanBuren
  15. you have a very unstable ping Ping stability: 72 120 200 41 123 138 37 153 105 103 that can be a router problem, or a problem with your ISP net bypass your router, and make sure you using 10Mbps half duplex on your NIC or use default duplex settings also reboot your modem for 30 seconds make a new speedtest VanBuren
