  1. I would do a couple of things; this is for Windows XP users. I would first try tweaking your settings using these tweaks. https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php I would next try tweaking SP2 if you happened to install it. https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 Then try VAN

  3. If your motherboard supports SATA then you can go into the BIOS setup and set the SATA as that hard drive you will be loading the OS on (it should be in your motherboards manual)

  5. 1.5M/384K is probably close to your maximum connection speed. You can always try and tweak your computer and settings. https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php I would start here for tweaking your internet settings. Van also has a step by step tweaking guide you should try next
  6. It sounds more like a computer problem than an internet problem. Post your computer specs and what programs you are running and how many programs are running in the background (little icons on the right hand side)
  7. You might have no desire but how much time spent trying to get your existing setup to work might be worth a hardware setup. If you want to try to set up ICS, I will link you some information. http://www.homenethelp.com/ics/ics-install-arch.asp Above link has step by step help for ICS
  8. Go to your routers support page, look at FAQs or knowledge base, it should tell you how to switch to access point mode which will help you connect wireless.
  9. Netgear should have some information about turning your router into access point mode, I will fish up the information soon.
  10. I could help you with ICS but I believe the best way is to add HARDWARE to the mix. WIRELESS baby! You can buy wireless cards for both systems and an access point which will help you share internet and files (easy setup) Linksys is guaranteed to work with the DWAY modem. If you want to use ICS (lots of work) I will still help you.
  11. I would first try to uninstall your wireless networking card from device manager and then reboot and let Windows detect and reinstall the card and LAN settings.
  12. Charlton Heston is a dying fossil that should finally expire. The revolution should begin now. The first American Revolution did not grant this country freedom, it granted this country a facade democracy covering up an autocracy style of ruling that has grown into fascism.
  13. When the Cable infrastructure is well maintained Cable is far faster than DSL. Also with DOCSIS 2.0 Cable got a big upgrade. Anything is better than dial up but with a 5.5mbit down during peak times and 7.4mbit down during the other hours, 800kbits up during peak times and 1mbit up during the other hours, Cable is a champ.
  14. This is going to take some work since SP2 requires a lot of tweaking. https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php TCP Optimizer, and install all the tweaks that relate to you. https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 Windows XP SP2 tweaking You also might want to scan for spy-ware.
  15. 4000ft or less, should be around 4mbit 8000ft or less, should be around 2mbit Anything greater than that should be around 1mbit
  16. They all have their purpose on my end; hotmail for personal, gmail for business and yahoo for online forums and other online services that require email.
  17. A while back when I worked for this company they changed over to VOIP and this problem would come up once in a while. http://www.iconnecthere.com/nonmembers/eng/accessories/accessories_grand.html I would do this before calling tech support since they will probably have you run through all these steps.
  18. Calling the Windows Firewall protection is like calling cheesy plastic bags around your house protection against a bio-chemical weapon. Plus, a performance hit is subjective; a little 10% hit might be huge to some and small to others. (I am not saying it
  19. The CMOS battery has nothing to do with a Windows password. Removing the CMOS battery will reset your BIOS settings and the BIOS password.
  20. I would try to unhide all folders, maybe do a search for a file you know you saved. (might want to use a 3rd party search tool like google hard-drive search)
  21. It is still a good idea to clean your system of spyware and any possible viruses and Trojans. It is also a good idea to clean your system, temp files, defrag
  22. You are pretty close to your cap speed but you might be able to tweak it some more. Which windows are you running?
  23. I would disable Windows Firewall. Even if Windows XP did block ports you can always tweak it.
