Hey Shug, I've got a reason, at least, for medicaid and medicare. My wife had a V-Fib arrest at home just under 3 years ago. I wound up doing CPR on her and just luckily a paramedic was in the area with a defibrillator. He stopped her heart altogether then we got her into the ambulance and he gave her a dose of epinephrine. Her heart just started up again after the epi. From what I know now, thats rare and she falls into the 5% survival rate for her arrest and subsequent down time without proper blood flow/oxygenation (between 7-9 minutes). She has been left with a severe brain injury which impedes both her quality of life and her capacity to work. She, in essence, has no short term memory and/or transference of memory between short and long term. Her memory issues are Alzheimer's 'ish in that respect. She is continuing her rehab and has had gains over the past few years. Without Medicaid, we would have had huge hospital bills which we would never have been able to pay even if I worked 5 jobs and further she would not be able to receive the rehabilitation that she so desperately needs without it. . Maybe you're just talking about TANF, but Medicaid is a part of the "welfare system" and goes hand in hand with TANF, of which she does not receive, so I thought that it might help to put a true story with one of the programs involved in the welfare system of the United States. I'm not flaming you but would rather like to think I'm giving you information on one case where it is actually helping a person. I agree to a certain degree regarding TANF. There are some women who get pregnant every 2 years just to stay on the roles. Thats just wrong, but I believe that welfare assistance should be there for those in desperate need.

Thats good news that she was able to get out! A nephew of my boss lived in the devastated area and he got out ok too. Let's hope all who wanted to get out but could not survived.Mother nature has been having her way with us for the past couple of years. The Tsunami's, and now this........... Hopefully these things don't come in three's and it will abate for 30 years or so.

Not getting on your ass, Myriagon. I just did not see anything that was flaming the president and wanted clarification. The second part was a joke.... see the laughing face there........ Don't be so sensitive. BTW: Me, in........... I don't think so.......... Cholla: I've heard they're trucking alot of bottled water to Louisana from here. Is that a critical need, since you're in the area thought you might have a better idea as to what is critical.

  6. On the pc version, it allows you to see and disable plugins if you want. I doubt its there though. I think it may be the third issue where his engine is selected as Yahoo. Don't know, though..... If you look thru your hijackthis log, do you see any entries for yahoo?

My heart goes out to those who wanted but could not get out before the hurricane hit and for the animals.... got 3 cats and the dog to the left, myself........... but for those who decided to stay and not heed the warnings knowing they live below sea level and have a cat 3-5 hurricane bearing down on them.... nothing.
  9. Is there a Yahoo toolbar still lurking somewhere? Check in View menu under toolbars. You can also check to see if a plugin was put in under Tools>options>download and click on the plugins button at the bottom right of the window. (not likely, but can't hurt to look there) Do you have yahoo selected as your search engine here: Excerpted from http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/search ****************** You can use the Search Box feature with many other search "engines", not just Google: * If you click the icon at the left side of the Search Box, a list of engines drops down. Click on the one you want and that will become the current engine. Thereafter, whenever you press Enter to start a search, the search will use that engine. * To add a new engine to your list, click the icon at the left end of the Search Box and select 'Add Engines...' This brings up the Mycroft page from which you can select additional engines. ****************** Edited for wording.... Sounded a bit smart-assed when I read it so I changed my wording... sorry about that....
  10. Search for a folder named Mozilla. Just delete the whole Mozilla folder after uninstalling firefox, then reinstall.

  16. Check to make sure the monitor is set correctly in device manager. If its just using the generic plug and play vga monitor, you will only get low res out of it. IF this is whats happening, set the monitor to the svga generic "driver" or find the ones for your specific monitor. Good Luck!
  17. Your speeds look good. I don't do much tweaking help, but Van Buren or someone else should be able to help you!
  18. Does it do this when you type cmd in Run under Start Menu?
  19. The entries marked in red are the ones I use to determine if I have a connection/speed issue. I run this from a couple of different servers due to problem areas between my machine and the individual host of the ndt system. Your numbers, to me, look fine in the areas I've marked red.. Van Buren is the expert on scaling and he may have suggestions there. What were your speed results and who is your provider and what are your max up/download speeds for the package are you currently on?
  20. You can look in the i386 directory on you hard drive. Go to My Computer, then doulbe click on the i386 directory and look for the three files the article Swimmer posted. If they are not there and you do not have an install disk for XP from the manufacturer of your computer then you can recreate the autoexec and config files with the instructions in Swimmers article as well, starting at step 5. Also, check the system32 directory for the command.com file to see if it exists there. Depending on the machine you have, the i386 directory may be on a different partition (D: drive, not your cd rom) or e: drive. The win98 boot disk will only work to access a fat32 (file system) install of winxp..........
  21. I knew my shoes would burst into flames if I went into a church, so I got married on my side lawn Congrats again, Pitbull
  22. Never used a cell like this before but have had issues with usb devices. Uninstall the software, then delete the device out of Hardware Devices. Shut down, then hook up the phone to a different usb port (turn the phone on if it needs to be on) then start your machine up and install the drivers. If there are setting in the cell, you might want to check to see if anything has changed there as well. Hope this helps.
  23. I've seen a faulty device driver do this as well.

  25. Have you tried booting into safe mode? Hit F8 key as you start the machine. A menu will appear and have a list of options to select from. Select start in Safe mode. If you are able to run for a while in safe mode, scan the system for adware, viruses, etc.. If you select safe mode with networking, you will be able to download scanners such as ad-aware, spybot, torjanhunter and anti-virus such as AVG or Avast if there are none on the machine. Let us know.
