Im not sure, but at the bottom of this page is the day that the most forum users were on line. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php It was quite a while ago and I don't remember these issues occurring. It may be tied to the site as a whole, but I don't believe that it has to do with the forum itself. Could be a mysql issue, but I do not know...... CA3LE?

Is the new client running a firewall that stops icmp signals? (SP2 with XP Firewall), or another third party firewall would preclude the icmp (ping) response. (whole different unrelated issue, I think) I assume that your other machines get to the net thru the same gateway. Someone with more wireless experience might better serve you. I would suggest connecting through a wired connection if you can, to see if it is directly related to the wireless card or not.

do an ipconfig with your other computer connected to the router. Write down the Gateway address and try to ping that ip with the client computer. (to do the ipconfig go to Start then Run then type in cmd and click run. Now, type ipconfig /all and note the Gateway IP address.)

Could be. From what I understand, he is running two servers and is splitting the load as far as registered vs. non-registered users, but don't know how the mysql ties in. My assumption is that the mysql drives most of the site (with php). I can't believe that the new hardware is maxxed.

This issue is getting a bit worse. Every other click on the site I need to refresh to load the page. Also, the main page for the forum is showing mysql errors..........9:41 EST. Just tried logging back in thru the login prompts at the center of the screen... just kept getting the smf erros.... used the upper left login on the screen, got in the first try. 9:55pm EST

Have you checked the router logs to see if there are packets hitting the router which are not getting through to your machine? Could be that the server on the other end is sending icmp or other type traffic that may be filtered by the router and is impacting your download speed.

Check the wire to your sound card from the speakers, uplug it then plug it back in a couple of thimes. If you have another 'puter, try the speakers on the other machine to see if it might be the wiring/speakers instead of your soundcard. Sounds like a loose connection somewhere.

I think the risks do not outweigh the benefits. You said your pups aren't killers, but then go on to say your male has killed 3 dogs and tried to take your neighbor out. First you say its the owners fault, then you say that its the neighbors fault. Why can't it be that pits are just an aggressive specie as a whole that can't be truly domesticated and as such should not be permitted as pets. I've never heard of a golden retriever attacking and attempting to kill someone for throwing shit at it. On the other hand, there are many animals you can possess, but you must have a permit to do so. Why not implement some type of control mechanism like that for those dog breeds that are naturally aggressive and/or unpredictable? This type of control might lower the number of attacks and put the owners under more scrutiny for training and controlling their dogs.

I'm with you, Shug. On all counts. Why do people think insurance companies cancel homeowners policies or increase rates for owners of certain breeds of dog. This is a prime example of why.

If you are using XP, you can set up a user name, add it to the guest group, then let the houseguests use that. Any information in your user profile under documents and settings should be safe from wandering users. This will also protect your operating system because members of the guest group can't install software or do many of the other things you, as a member of the Administrator group(I assume), can do.
