I have a HP PSC 2355 All-in-one Printer/Copier/Scanner. I downloaded a software upgrade from HP and now I can't scan anymore. All I get when I try is an error message indicating a communication error! I know my printer is a Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) type, but I still can't get it to work. You do know that by going wireless you loss about 50% of your bandwidth. How new is your unit, just because you purchase it yesterday doesn't mean your NIC drivers are out of date. Whenever I purchase anything new like graphics card the first thing I do is look for new drivers. Anyway, before you can download hyperwrt firmware to increase your transmit power you really need to know what version of router you have. Try looking on the bottom of the unit. What Vanburen ccs file are you currently using to improve your TCP/IP connection? Further, once I know your version number I will send a link to the firmware that is best for your unit. Do you know how to open your routers web page? Its usually 192.168.1.1 then type in, "admin" if you haven't set up a user name and password. Further, you have to set up static ip addresses on your xbox and your main computer> For Main Computer: right click My Computer>click Properties>Click on General tap of the Local Area Connection Window> Scroll down and select (highlight), "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" > Next click on the "Properties" button and this will open the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window>click the Radio button that states, " Use the Following IP Address" now put in the following information: IP Address 192.168.1.XX (use XX to be between 10 and 99) Subnet Mask: should fill in automatically or use 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 For: Perferred DNS server use what is listed on your router's web page. Once open click on the, Status tab and under, "Internet-configuration and type", look for DNS 1 and DNS 2 these are the values to inputed into your perferred DNS server and alternate DNS server back in the, "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties", window. Once this is done click,OK button and close. For XBox, I will assume you know how to give your xbox a static ip just read directions. Further make your you use the same DNS values you used in the, "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties", window. I don't usually recommend using DMZ which opens all ports and makes your system more vulnerable to outside attack but all we are trying to see is if port forwarding works. Sorry for the late reply, yes, I have wired and wireless. Of course though the wired units get better speeds. I have done quite abet of tweaking and I believe I have gotten the best speeds possible. I go with Comcast and I get 6000/384, but with tweaking I get 7000 up. I go with MAC filtering already as my neighboor was using my wireless signal. One thing I can suggest too speed up your system a little faster is to reinstall your NIC drivers which seem to get corrupted over time. Also, look for a driver update for your NIC this could help to. Also, are you running at 10 Half or full duplex with regards to your NIC. I tried once at running at 100 full duplex but this simply was not good, after reducing back to 10 full duplex the system ran butter. Anyway, just some things to consider on those cold lonely nights! I have a wrt54gs router from linksys and I got rid of the stock antenna and put on larger 7 gain. This definitely increased my range and I got better signal strenght. I don't know if you could put on larger antennas but you might consider it. I work with linksys routers so I can't say if there is a firmware for your router that will allow an increase of transmit power. Again, make sure you have the latest firmware that should help. compuworm

I would keep Sp2 but that's my opinion. If you feel your system is faster without it than dont install. Who is yoru ISP? If it is Comcast they have McAfee for free download. Again, what router do you have and are u using any tweaks for your TCP/IP?
