Small problem with gateway and connection.
Swimmer replied to MttFrog13's topic in Networking and Hardware
see what the ip lease time is set at.. that could cause the problem.. also when this happens see if the ip on the network adaptor is changing.. -
I was wondering if anyone here had any experience in subnet addressing.. I have an idea how how to connect mutiple routers together but would like to subnet them
-
you are on one of those wireless deals... I can almost bet that the packet issue is hardware related.. interference, signal quality or just the hardware itself.. You cant even get DSL up there?

Have you heard about the Opteron?? http://www.anandtech.com/linux/showdoc.aspx?i=2163&p=8 you might want to check that one out..

I realize that.. i was commenting on the fact that the slow down is related to the fact that the system is no longer running in the configuration. -
the ip address is the address of the host computer, the computer that you want to use WinMX on.. if you dont know that address start->run->type cmd-> press enter-> then type ipconfig /all.. you should get a screen looking like the attached screen shot.. I have 2 adaptors.. so make sure you are selecting the ethernet one.

DONT FOR GET THE FORMULA.. points times you hard drive temp or CPU temp.. :haha: -
Was it a splitter or a booster? From what I have seen and hear for the comcast dudes is that the more splitters you have on the line that goes to the modem the slower your speeds are going to be. This is because the signal degrades everytime the connection is split. As far as the lag issue.. if you ISP is having connection problem then it is their fault for the lag issue... my guess is that you ping is freaking high.. you might want to plug in a router and while you are playing a game ping some sites.. Also run a tracert to testmy.net..

Switch.. not a router.. if you are looking for a cheap router you are not going to find a linksys one.. they hardly ever offer deals with their equipment

Horrrrrific Slowdown -.-
Swimmer replied to SilentAssassin's topic in XFINITY (Comcast Cable Communications)
Welcome to the bay area.. That is one of the constant hotspots for comcast.. they are having alot of trouble out there! -
Since this forum logs ip address i looked up what ones you have had in the past.. it looks like you can ditch the 24. ip address and use a 68. one.. that is what you have been on in the past.. now if that was before an upgrade you might be out of luck.. it never hurt to try..

Yeah it is dual channel related.. you might want to place the largest stick in the first slot.. that might help your performance just a little bit.. -
if the task it to familiarize him with the enternal components and allow him to work on the pc.. this is the way to go!!! However, if you are interested in building a machine that will be a starter for him i would point you to tigerdirect's barebones.. most of the systems ship with case, cpu, motherboard, memory, power supply and heatsink.. which leaves hard drive, opticals, and video for you to "customize" something like this would do the trick http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1456616&CatId=0.. based on the k8t800 motherboard.. you get a 3100+ sempron 754 pin processor, 512mb of ram, a case, keyboard/mouse, heatsink and 425 watt powersupply $240.. That is something that should last for a little while and is upgradeable to the a64s.. <- you are going to have to check which one before you buy.. A64 did ship with the 754 pins in the early days.. But here is my personal fav.. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1487649&CatId=1222 Soyo Black/silver case w/400watt ps Chaintech 7NJL6 NVIDIA Socket A ATX Motherboard AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Processor Ultra 512MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory heatsink, keyboard and mouse for $179.00 that is on hell of a bargan.. all name brand components.. add in an 80 gig hard drive and a 9600XT and you have a sweet computer for about $350.. you are still going to need to find a monitor and cd drive..

That is a great point! the new Geforce 7800 series is the same or slower than the 6800 in low resolution tests.. but when you put 4x AA and 8x AF the card will wip the crap out of everything.. we are talking about a 3 fps difference..
