  2. Where in CA are you located?
  3. yeah just install both.. it will not hurt anything on the server..
  4. ok.. the older driver might have not been optimized for the Geforce 6 series.. They had driver problems when the first cards came out if i recall..
  5. you should see what is going on in the bay area.. it is a mess from what I have read.. I am not sure about LA..
  6. what drivers are you running on the 6200? you might want to try these http://www.omegadrivers.net/ they tend to be a better driver build and yeld better results in test about 70% of the time.. What test were you using?
  7. Apple is the loser.. why would you by a laptop that is going to be about $1500 on a platform that is going to disappear? My choice would be the gateway.. Bigger hard drive, more memory, and x600 graphics.. the sony would be an ok choice.. however, intergrated graphics, only 512mb of ram, smaller hard drive. However, this one will kill the other 2 in batter tests..
  8. i agree..
  9. yes.. http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Previews/nv6200/ 6200 is current gen.. 9200 was quite a while ago.. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20041222/vga_charts-06.html that is the VGA chart of doom3 the 6200 is on there..
  10. This topic has been moved to Networking and Hardware. [iurl]https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=6972.0[/iurl]
  11. I know for a fact that an old pc will run fine... I can bring up my 266mhz box this weekend and run some test if you would like.. Ethernet is way better than USB.. Ethernet you can transmit and recieve at the same time.. here is an article that explains it in plain english.. http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question667.htm
  12. what hardware version do you have A2? or A1? I have been reading on other forums that A2 is having problems with the MAC stuff...
  13. I normally dont do this.. but give me a bit and lets see if we cant get you back up and running where you should be.. If anyone has seen vanburen please pm or IM me.. i would like him to look over this set up.. Alright... lets give this a shot.. download this program.. http://www.majorgeeks.com/TCP_Optimizer_d2104.html On the slide bar on the top set it to 10000.. then click optimal setting on the bottom.. reboot.. power cycle modem and router.. then lets see what happens..Make sure you write down your current settings so that if it doesnt work you can return to what it is running at now...
  14. thank you myriagon..
  15. Ok looking at your setup you should be getting the same speed as wired if you do have the high gain antennas.. 5.8 cordless phones are just as bad as their 2.4GHz brothers.. My sugestion would be to read this http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-2097... then post in that forum if you are having trouble with the config of the rwin values.. the 19% refers to the average that users on your ISP are testing at. if you are not getting atleast 90% then there is something wrong.. which in your case there is. From what I can tell this is not really a networking issue.. It is more of a connection issue.. Talk with some people in the Make it fast area and that should take care of it.. 802.11b isnt going to hold you back.. that will run between 3.2-5.5Mbps.. which should be more than enough for any type of home connection. that will not tell you anything that you dont already know.. The speed of your network has nothing to do with how fast your internet is.. 802.11 b can handle just about anything out there on the market today..
  16. very cool.. what manufacturer?
  17. I should have it up soon... sorry i cant find my adobe acrobat cd right now..
  18. Found a site that listed a bunch of testing sites.. this was back in the day of the blue and orange layout.. Used it for a while then joined the forums..
  19. When was the last time you power cycled your modem? If it have been a while do it.. that is how the upgrade are applied to your connection.. I think the entire nation is on the 4mb system now execpt for CA.. It really sucks out there...
  20. http://www.realvnc.com/ download that program.. install it and forward port 5900-5901 and 5800 to the computer if you are behind a router.. give me 4 hours and I will put a guide up for ya...

    Got Sound?

have you tried this? http://dmzweb3.europe.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=219,E=0000000000069298613,K=3730,Sxi=0,Case=obj(3056),Kb=ww_english,VARSET=ws:http://us.creative.com/ I still this is related to a driver of some sort..
  22. remote desktop is a good way to go assuming you are running windows xp pro.. you can only client on other versions.. vnc is also a good one.. Make sure that you have the service set up and router through the router if needed before you leave! Also the IP address might switch on you.. so send her to whatismyip.com if you are having trouble connecting.
  23. I bet that helped out alot? like the computer booted faster then 5min? I dont think i would even try to install on anything less than 256 or 512. Hell an unpatched fresh install of the original copy takes 78.3mb of ram to boot.. Speaking of Bf2.. I have found that if i alt tab out of the program i am running close to 700mb used while in game.. That is HUGE!!! that is also before the memory leak was repaired by 1.02
  24. Was that the hard drive they were sued for? There was one of the lines that had a 50 or 70% failure rate.. Yeah you can get them at Sam club and some other retailers... they have some pretty good deals.. i saw one for about a grand with some pretty impressive specs..
  25. I know squat about engines.. other then they make my car go.. It is more of a balancing act between processor speed, amount of ram, and how old the system is.
